Rose Hanbury denies rumours

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 18/03/2024 22:26

US media are reporting that Rose Hanbury, Marchioness of Cholmondeley, has denied rumours of an affair with Prince William.

“Business Insider reached out to all parties involved with the affair scandal. While Kensington Palace “declined to comment,” Hanbury said through her lawyers that “the rumours are completely false.” This marks the first time that Hanbury has publicly said something about the affair ever since the rumors emerged”.

This looks like it was in response to a joke about William/Rose/Kate relationship on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’.

I think it’s awful the four of them had to go through this. All because someone cracked a joke on twitter and it went viral as the truth, but dropping the pegging thing.

but then look at the batshit stuff people are saying now, from Kate is dead, in a coma, had facelift , it’s a body double, domestic violence, stoma, the list is endless.

its shocking how many sick foolish people there are out there,

The trouble is, people don't automatically believe the best of the royal family. Those of us who lived through the Diana and Charles years, know its not always how its painted.

And the Royal kings and princes are known throughout history if having affairs, it was totally acceptable not that long ago.

At the end of the day, no one knows the truth, unless they know the couple well. So all the frothing or the faux disgust on mn is really a waste of time.

Easily , we've all seen her many times with excellent quality pics. The media needs to stop this. I know many believe this is her, (only on mumsne)t ,not many elsewhere. This whole" 'I'm not a conspiracy theroy' starting a sentence is only on mumsnet again! They used the nudge unut to psychological manipulate people to ramp up fear during covid and chnsge behavior during people, is that a conspiracy? We are allowed to question things. And by God we shoild be.

Stop spreading misinformation online.

I'll admit to 'frothing' over this issue. I posted on another thread recently where several posters were positively salivating at the juicy gossip on this topic.

It makes me despair of people because, whatever it's faults, you'd think MN is a place where posters care about families and especially children. I've been 'disgusted of Tunbridge Wells' about the sheer nastiness and enjoyment of the thought that 2 families, with at least 5 children between them (never mind the impact on the adults) were involved in a scandal which some people find entertaining and funny. Ha ha.

PPs are right - it doesn't matter how many times it's denied, some people believe what they want to believe - and that's what's so horrible. People on here - not X or other nastier sites - who enjoy the thought of family break-up. It's bad enough when it actually happens, but to actually wish it on others is awful. I guess if you don't like the RF or the upper classes then you can sit by the guillotine knitting and really enjoy watching them squirm.

God - I've been repulsed by some of the scummy posts on here over the last week.

I've no idea who Colbert is but having read the report of what he said he sounds really immature and talks like an air head teenager gossiping in the playground.

Oh give over, many of us lived through these years, doesn’t mean you get to make foundless accusations. Oh your parents had affairs. So ya know I think it’s likely you do too.

just awful

Did you watch the video?
The Daily Mail and others seem to be using a clip from that video that looks least like her.

In the video it is very clearly a thinner Kate as she’s been ill with abdominal surgery. But it is very clear it’s Kate.

as clear as the nose on my face. People are so bloody wedded to their conspiracy theories they simply can’t accept the mundane truth

But that's missing the point - it's not about the RF. It's about the distasteful glee and rubbing hands together at the thought of family break-up. And I bet the children in both families will get awful stuff said to them at school etc through the spreading of this stupid SM gossip. Honestly, the stuff I've seen even on here would make you blood run cold, it's so spiteful and callous.

How parents (who I assume make up most of the poster on here) can relish this kind of gossip I just don't understand, and I reserve the right to froth about it, even if it is a waste of time.

Agreed.
Thinner, but definitely her.

I haven't the remotest interest in this, but I think the depth of your concern is misplaced. Rose Hanbury is from a background where bedhopping is pretty much de rigueur, and where wealth, social norms and owning a lot of enormous properties mean that infidelity, unless it casts doubt on the paternity of an heir, is rarely the deal-breaker it is in Mn circles. RH was at the centre of a fair bit of scandal years back when she announced her engagement, announced her (fairly advanced) pregnancy and married her now-husband within three days, especially when he'd been a notorious player, and was also rumoured to be gay or bi, making her a beard for an heir etc.

I have zero idea whether there's anything behind any of that gossip, obviously, any more than there is behind the PoW rumours, but this is not like Dave at Number Seventeen shagging Brenda from Accounts, and his wife agonised because she's a SAHM of three entirely dependent on his salary, and it's highly unlikely to cause family breakdown.

LadyEloise1 · 19/03/2024 09:42

I agree with you @NotestoSelf.

Mind you there are lots of unhappy children in the mix of these aristocratic "complications" ( I'm not alluding to POW/RH supposed affair ) as Princess Diana and her brother have stated previously as have countless other aristos when speaking of their childhood. Usually nannies, packed off to boarding school etc.
These children then sadly replicate their parent's lifestyles and generational unhappiness......

Colbert is a misogynist and a coward. Thoroughly nasty piece of work. He's disgusting and cruel and making vicious defamatory comments like this should actually have consequences. I feel sorry for William and Catherine and their children and for Rose and her family.

That's certainly true about the children, and replicating. I suppose my only point is that infidelity has a different social meaning in different social environments.

Heartytrousers · 19/03/2024 10:05

I'd be amazed if William wasn't having affair(s), no idea if it's with Rose. Either way, it's awful for her and they really need to find a way to protect her and her family.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 19/03/2024 10:05

Has anyone established whether Colbert really did interview Harry in front of an audience or whether that audience reaction was piped in after the event? Just asking, Stephen. Fairs fair and all that, if you are the truth seeker you like to claim you are.

VillageOnSmile · 19/03/2024 10:07

I have absolutely no doubt that KP has guided both the low profile and now the denial of said rumours.

In some ways, I REALLY hope this is the case (because it means she isn’t completely on her own).

re being center stage of gossip.
I think it comes with being close to really high profile people.

Who is ‘close to’ who has always made the headlines. Whether it’s the RF or famous actors/singers. When there is a possibility to say ‘oh look so and so is going out/having an affair with <eg Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston>’, it will make front page of many magasines.

OnceinaMinion · 19/03/2024 10:11

Kates sister called her child Rose in 2022. Unless she loathes her, to me it shows it isn’t true. I mean no one would do that would they especially when they are in the public eye.

I also think that video is them, it’s just crappy quality. I’ve seen loads of people complaining they aren’t the same height, he’s over 6 foot and she’s in flats? People are literally insane.

CoffeeCantata · 19/03/2024 10:12

Oh Lord! How many times...?

I know that - I'm a historian. I'm not on about the morals and conduct of the upper classes - I'm talking about the revolting relish of some people who want this rumour to be true. I'm talking about the humanity here - not the history - there are real people - particularly children involved. They will most likely be hearing things said about their parents which I would hate my children to have heard - whether they're true or not. But if your attitude is: well, they're upper class, so I don't care - I think that's awful.

And this is all very high-profile stuff. That's my point - if it was just a few bored aristos bed-hopping very discreetly, that wouldn't matter to anyone. But it's all in the public domain, all over SM and bound to have an impact on those involved - some of whom are /have been seriously ill. I don't care what class these people are, or how much more money they have than me - I still find it really distasteful to wish misery on them so publicly.

How would some of these posters like their children to be subjected to national and international SM speculation about their parents' sex lives? (But, they're privileged so let's enjoy it??)

I just hope the subjects of the gossip are able to laugh about it.

In case anyone is curious about what Colbert said. If lawyers approved this they should be fired as he definitely presented rumours as facts

"I'm afraid I've got some troubling news about England's Royal Family. The kingdom has been all aflutter by the seeming disappearance of Kate Middleton. Well now, internet sleuths are guessing that Kate's absence may be related to her husband and the future King of England, William, having an affair."

"So, I think we all know who the alleged other woman is. Say it with me: the Marchioness of Chul-mun-duh-lay! What a beautiful name that I'm being told right now that I pronounced incorrectly. It is in fact pronounced 'Chum-lee.' Counterpoint: No, it's not. Learn English, England."

"Now there have been rumours about William and the marching band of chicanery since 2019"

"According to tabloids, back then, when Kate supposedly confronted him about it, he laughed it off, saying there was nothing to it." "Aha! Always a good response when your wife accuses you of cheating. 'Haha! Imagine me having an affair! It is to laugh! It reminds me of a jape: Knock knock, who's there? Oh, it's my illegitimate son. I've ~knocked up~ my mistress!'"

"The Marcus Mumford of Chumbawamba is an old friend of the royals', and she's married to a close friend of William's, David Rocksavage," "Really? Rocksavage? That sounds less like a British noble and more like a musician from The Flintstones."

"Oh sorry, I'm being told it's actually pronounced 'Chum-lee.'"

Edited

I knew he had said something didn’t realise it was as spiteful as this. Prick

Why would you be amazed? Are you amazed Edward and Sophie aren’t having affairs, or Zara? What a strange attitude.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 19/03/2024 10:17

Why are all these posters convinced William has affairs? Is it a family trait? Does Harry do it too? Or is it something specific to William?
