The royal family

Do the Royal Family just think we are really really stupid?

Just that really. From Harry’s car chase to Prince Andrew being at a Pizza Express kid’s party.

And now we’re supposed to believe that the country’s biggest PR machine in the middle of a media storm just let Prince William take a casual Mothers Day pic on his iPhone, let the missus edit it and then post it to the world?

😒

I don't have any problem with Kate. I agree if anything this highlights the treatment of women by the press. But I have a problem with the institution of the royal family blatantly lying and then also putting blame on Kate. I don't for a second believe she has edited that picture but had to accept to be blamed for it.

tiptoetipfinger · 11/03/2024 13:53

I’m not even in the UK and I am also now wondering what’s going on. 😂 It’s on the news here too.

DrJoanAllenby · 11/03/2024 13:53

She only tidied up the original photo like many people do nowadays.

This is the original.

And the press agencies asked for a copy of the original photo as proof that it was simply amateur editing to improve a photo. The Palace refused.

Yikes.

Bunch of amateurs.

Fizbosshoes · 11/03/2024 13:54

I saw the photo and took at face value as nice smiley pic possibly taken at a different time but released for mothers day.

Then people started saying things didn't look right.
But her comment is strange - like many amateur photographers she sometimes edits pics. I'm lazy and don't really know how to edit photos....but I see many pics of friends my age, (40s) who have edited/filtered pics to make themselves look younger, thinner, smoother etc....but that's not what's happening in that pic as far as I can see?

amberedover1 · 11/03/2024 13:55

As others have said , the picture wasn't pulled because of a little editing on a sleeve .
I heard on radio that this is the first time a royal photo has been killed in this way. Did anyone else hear that ?
So if not for photoshopping, then what ?
Because it was misleading in a much greater way ?
Because the press have a v bad relationship with W & K ?

Begsthequestion · 11/03/2024 13:55

EasterIssland · 11/03/2024 13:50

Exactly. If she leaves the hospital too early post giving birth she’s criticised . If she wants to recover from a surgery without discussing what the illness is about she’s criticised. She might be the future queen but she’s also human and deserves her privacy respected. Something the press and the public aren’t doing.

Do you think they actually give a shit about what people think?

She's got castles and private jets and secret resorts and anything she needs, on tap, 24/7.

If she stays off social media she'd never even know about any of this chitchat.

Seems like a small price to pay for uninterrupted luxury.

pubblehopper · 11/03/2024 13:55

A Cannon camera, iPhone, photoshop or lightroom or whatever, it was an amateur photographer. I own an Olympus DSLR, I did a 6 week course on using it and played around on lightroom, my photos are basic, having a fancy camera does not make a professional photographer.

yeah, Kate also washes the dishes - as an amateur

My view is it was an old photo taken at the back end of last year and manipulated to appear as if it were taken this year. The agencies rejected it because the clear implication of the photo was that it showed Kate post surgery (ie recovering well) when in fact it shows an image of her from last year, pre-hospitalisation.

I agree. But my whole point is why do this in the first place?
All these posters saying they have been pushed into it by the press, absolutely not, they can do what they want when they want.
Why not just do a pretty picture of the kids picking daffodils, painting mothers day cards, whatever, as I said before and send warm wishes from Kate.
Yes there would be speculation, ooh where is Kate, but they have said she won't be doing anything till after Easter so it will have died down pretty quick.

I imagine this has come from their PR people who haven't got a bloody clue

BenefitWaffle · 11/03/2024 14:05

I am surprised they said the photo was taken with a camera phone when that can be so easily disproved.

If you wipe the meta data before sending it to anyone (which presumably they do as standard for security reasons) how would you prove it?

BenefitWaffle · 11/03/2024 14:09

People have said on the thread that the meta data was not wiped and quoted the camera used.

why would you destroy your career in this way working for the Royals and having to take the fall for their stupidity?

Yep.

They can't win - and I don't just mean the Royal Family but any victims of social media hysteria and conspiracy theories.

Do nothing and they'll say "they definitely know about all the stuff social media, why aren't they responding? That in itself suggests something dodgy is going on".

Issue a statement or a picture and that'll be endlessly analysed, holes picked in it etc. If POW came out on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to wave at the nation that'd be picked apart. "She looks strained...she's definitely very unwell with something, cancer?...is William forcing her to do this? Does she need help? ...Look at her hand and this picture of her hand from 2018, they look different don't they? Is it even her?....Mr Jones the Royal expert was on the news/YouTube and he said the Royal Family would never do x, y or z"

I mentioned the Nicola Bulley case upthread because it was a perfect example. She was a missing person, Police involved who had witnesses saying she'd been seen in the area of the river but not seen leaving the area, husband (most likely suspect) whereabouts were confirmed and not in that area etc so on all the evidence, most likely she went into the river.

Wasn't enough for the SM sleuths including MN, there was a white van somewhere near, so obvious she was abducted, someone on FB said her husband was in debt, we looked this up on companies house and there was a failed business, I went on Google earth and there's other ways she could've left the area, I've looked up tide times and there's no way she could be in the river and not found and on and on.

Enter some dubious ex-detectives going on News programmes and an 'expert' in finding bodies in water who told the world if she was there, he'd find her but didn't and the whole thing went nuts.

With 'the Police know she's not in that river, why aren't they concerned about murder or abduction, it's dodgy" wild conspiracy theories and people online threatening to out her private information so the Police made a further statement explaining there was additional information they'd been made aware of in the beginning but didn't release to the public because it was none of the publics business and then SM conspiracy theories got even worse.

It is impossible to win against the sick monster that is the media and social media these days.

Harrys car chase nonsense came from Harry.
Andrews pizza bullshit came from Andrew.
They are both spectacularly dim and have form for not thinking through the stupid stuff they say and do.

Wales family picture - they often take their own photos without involving outside photographers, and they produce nice photos. There was nothing wrong - on the surface - with the mothers day picture. It's only weirdos who feel the need to forensically examine and pick apart every pixel. Most people edit photos before posting, nothing new there.

What's with the morbid fascination with a family who are helping their mum recover in private. She'll be out and about when she's ready and not before. This obsessive witch hunting isn't a good look.

I do wonder if they have to keep Andrew away from the children at family gatherings.

Yes. Because vast swathes of the population are. You only have to read the ridiculous amount of threads started about a photo and a woman recovering from major surgery and the batshit replies to realise this.

But why would you edit Charlotte's sleeve?
It's not something you'd think to even bother editing! Oh unless you were photo shopping Kate's hand in over someone else's... isn't that a more likely explanation?
