Yep.
They can't win - and I don't just mean the Royal Family but any victims of social media hysteria and conspiracy theories.
Do nothing and they'll say "they definitely know about all the stuff social media, why aren't they responding? That in itself suggests something dodgy is going on".
Issue a statement or a picture and that'll be endlessly analysed, holes picked in it etc. If POW came out on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to wave at the nation that'd be picked apart. "She looks strained...she's definitely very unwell with something, cancer?...is William forcing her to do this? Does she need help? ...Look at her hand and this picture of her hand from 2018, they look different don't they? Is it even her?....Mr Jones the Royal expert was on the news/YouTube and he said the Royal Family would never do x, y or z"
I mentioned the Nicola Bulley case upthread because it was a perfect example. She was a missing person, Police involved who had witnesses saying she'd been seen in the area of the river but not seen leaving the area, husband (most likely suspect) whereabouts were confirmed and not in that area etc so on all the evidence, most likely she went into the river.
Wasn't enough for the SM sleuths including MN, there was a white van somewhere near, so obvious she was abducted, someone on FB said her husband was in debt, we looked this up on companies house and there was a failed business, I went on Google earth and there's other ways she could've left the area, I've looked up tide times and there's no way she could be in the river and not found and on and on.
Enter some dubious ex-detectives going on News programmes and an 'expert' in finding bodies in water who told the world if she was there, he'd find her but didn't and the whole thing went nuts.
With 'the Police know she's not in that river, why aren't they concerned about murder or abduction, it's dodgy" wild conspiracy theories and people online threatening to out her private information so the Police made a further statement explaining there was additional information they'd been made aware of in the beginning but didn't release to the public because it was none of the publics business and then SM conspiracy theories got even worse.
It is impossible to win against the sick monster that is the media and social media these days.
