The royal family

Do the Royal Family just think we are really really stupid?

Just that really. From Harry’s car chase to Prince Andrew being at a Pizza Express kid’s party.

And now we’re supposed to believe that the country’s biggest PR machine in the middle of a media storm just let Prince William take a casual Mothers Day pic on his iPhone, let the missus edit it and then post it to the world?

😒

I think it's Kate herself that has created this 'perfect princess, never putting a foot wrong' persona. I remember when her children were babies and she had the big antique type pram and the kids often in period costumes. She always seems to be working very hard playing the part. I think she put huge pressure on herself.

I agree with this. When you see her interviewed or out and about on engagements it’s like she’s ‘in character’ the whole time.

Must be utterly exhausting.

Just checked out Rose and saw it’s her 40th today (well, tomorrow!) What a time to be celebrating a milestone birthday

The head of my children's primary school was off work for two whole terms because of "health reasons".

Was she also the wife of the heir to the throne?

No. Rather more importantly, she is responsible for the education of a few hundred children. No idea who her husband is.

Zone2NorthLondon · 14/03/2024 19:07

It’s in no way comparable. HT absence impacts small group. Localised impact
RF absence is a world news event. millions are interested

For once, I'm with Harry on this one. The public interest is not the same as everything the public is interested in.

The head of my children's primary school was off work for two whole terms because of "health reasons". I have no idea what the "health reasons" were and I did not demand to evidence that she was ill or still alive during her absence! No photographs were supplied. The very capable deputy head got on with the job and the parents didn't ask any questions.

And how would it have gone down if one term in someone had photoshopped her head onto the deputy’s body in the school newsletter?

I wouldn't have noticed. Strangely enough, I don't get out the magnifying glass to check the photos in the school newsletter 😂

Because your comparison is meaningless. Headteacher isn't a royal for a start.

Unless the photo looked stitched together/odd perhaps, drawing attention to itself?

I’m not a Royal watcher or tin hat wearer but the whole thing is odd.

Yes, you're right. Royalty never gets ill. Illness is reserved for the plebs that run state primary schools. Totally meaningless comparison. 😂

Yes! That’s exactly what I thought.

I think Kate tries very hard to do her job well, but it’s disingenuous to suggest that unless, perhaps, it’s your charity she happens to be visiting that day, or your ribbon she is cutting, that her health update is required on a “ need to know” basis - or, indeed, that her exact state of health or otherwise makes the slightest difference to the general public as they go about their lives.

Its just an overblown “ we pay ( pennies mind you): we want our pound of flesh” mindset - which, when someone is ill, is disgusting.

Glad you agree with what I said. Lovely add on there.

Plot twist, Kensington Palace has a bunch of devotees to start endless threads about Kate’s illness. You just to keep the attention on themselves albeit through Kate. Then when Kate has recovered enough to be rolled out to public engagements, the mass hysteria will draw in crowds.

That's a good theory but it will only be the old folk turning up. Young people with families are in the trenches trying to pay bills and put food on the table. Were paying them more than enough £83.6m to show themselves.

Kate ain't thick she had a good education. She needs to get a proper job rather than sponging off the tax payers in this country. I don't see her as a role model and there is very little to like about her or William they have no character.

But their job is to have no character, to be dutifully bland, show up looking well-groomed at events, do a bit of waving and smiling, deliver a bland speech researched and written by someone else, do a bit of chitchat on the basis of a cheat sheet read in the car, and depart again.

Other than this, their only job is to never say what they think, or betray the slightest hint of individuality, though the British public’s liking for a slightly prickly toff means Prince Philip got to have the permitted characteristics of being tactless and racist, and Princess Anne gets to look sour and ‘not suffer fools gladly’.

In hindsight they represent the British people and how they feel.

They are not period costumes. What would you dress them in - Adidas or some other "popular" brand? Something more modern perhaps?

I was talking about the RF in general for most of my post. Then in the final sentence I specifically mentioned Prince Philip and Princess Anne. It’s not clear which you meant.

RoyalDramaLlama · 14/03/2024 20:43

Yes. The 'Kate never puts a foot wrong' business- what does that mean? That she is somehow the perfect woman, because she doesn't do or say much smiles, wears clothes, and is the perfect wife and mother. The Royals and their fans have turned her into Hilary Mantells ' painted doll'.

Indeed, Kate never puts a foot wrong…

… or a jumper… or a zipper… or some hair… or even a tile…

tee-hee 😂😆

(I wrote this somewhere else, but I can't remember where, there are so many Katephotogate threads!)

Plus, dispensing them of several £ billions in inheritance tax....

Prince Andrew was leading the royals and the papers are still slagging off Harry and Meghan. What do you want people to think?

My comment stands they represent how you think and feel.

Inheritance tax is a scandal. You have to plan wisely so these fluvers don't get anything.
