The royal family

Do the Royal Family just think we are really really stupid?

Bex5490 · 11/03/2024 11:30

Just that really. From Harry’s car chase to Prince Andrew being at a Pizza Express kid’s party.

And now we’re supposed to believe that the country’s biggest PR machine in the middle of a media storm just let Prince William take a casual Mothers Day pic on his iPhone, let the missus edit it and then post it to the world?

😒

What is bizarre is people looking so hard at a picture to look for inconsistencies, people pretend not to care about the RF yet critcise every little thing.

Who the fuck doesn't edit pictures? William doesn't turn up to an event and people say Kates divorced him, died etc. Absolutely fucking bonkers, I blame social media melting people's brains.

The way you accuse RF of thinking people are stupid, do you think they are Kim Jung Un and pretraying themselves as super natural people with no arsehole? Because I really think you need to step away from the Internet if so.

CorylusAgain · 11/03/2024 12:51

Well OP, I know that the world's press think the public are really really stupid and have been proven right again and again.

Take the desperately sad example of Nicola Bulley. The press fanned the flames of frenzied online speculation. Then, when the theorists read back their delusions in the press, they believed that was validation of their beliefs! That did immense damage and everyone who participatedin that vile process shoukd still be deeply ashamed.

In this instance the decision to announce a 3 month recuperation and intent to not make updates does not suit a tabloid market. So the only thing left to them was stir up the online conspiracy theories. And look how people leapt on the band wagon. Logic out the window (like in the Nicola Bulley case) and gleeful validation that they must be on to something. The press have a financial stake in generating interest and speculation. The public just have a lack of common sense and humanity.

Mentquit · 11/03/2024 12:52

Judging by many threads on MN you can hardly blame the RF for drawing that conclusion!

BenefitWaffle · 11/03/2024 12:52

@RoyalDramaLlama which raises the obvious question of why they said no.

jeffgoldblum · 11/03/2024 12:55

People get the press they deserve.

There's enough people who have very strong feelings about members of the royal family that it borders on an obsession so it doesn't surprise me that the RF might think some of the public are stupid.

Just look at how many people have decided to emotionally invest in taking sides in a wealthy version of Jeremy Kyle, or how many posters on here were claiming they were worried sick about Kate because not enough information had been given to them.

For whatever reason the decision was made to keep Kate's health and medical situation private and that's her right. I'm surprised such a well-oiled PR machine has made such a spectacularly silly move with this photo though.

I'm worried about her and I'm not a royalist

museumum · 11/03/2024 13:01

Honestly the simplest explanation is the most likely. She’s had an operation with gynaecological or gastrointestinal so she looks like shite. She didn’t want to be photographed but wanted the press to STFU so they concocted a doctored photo. The worst idea anybody ever had but they clearly gave a fraught relationship with the press and their own press office /pr leading to a massive cock up.

Uptospeed · 11/03/2024 13:03

I'm surprised such a well-oiled PR machine has made such a spectacularly silly move with this photo though.

I think the P&POW have done this themselves. She’s signed the last 2 tweets ‘C’. I wouldn’t be surprised if KP comms advised them not to do all this but looks like they decided to act of their own accord.

KirstenBlest · 11/03/2024 13:03

Wasn't Princess Charlene ill for several months?

Doseofreality · 11/03/2024 13:04

Of course they do. We’re the plebs funding their lifestyle and payouts for paedo behaviour cover ups.

LolaSmiles · 11/03/2024 13:04

I'm worried about her and I'm not a royalist
Worried as in: I have human compassion for someone who might be going through a difficult health/medical situation. The family have chosen to keep it private and the recuperation time is quite long. It doesn't sound good but I respect anyone's desire to have their medical situation private.

Or worried as in: I'm worried sick about Kate. That's so many months off. It's obviously some serious. The family should be telling us more! We're beside ourselves with worry because they aren't telling us what's going on. Why can't they just release photos or updates to give us what we want? If they're not going to tell us her health and medical situation then we'll sit online and stir up theories and speculate about the possible ailments, all whilst maintaining the pretence that it's all so deeply deeply worrying. I'm worried sick about her.

The first is rational and many people would fall into that camp, royalist or otherwise.

The second is irrational and is what's been going on in some places.

mythbuster88 · 11/03/2024 13:05

I’m still waiting for the thread, 'William and Kate were lying (and editing) from the start, weren’t they?'

KirstenBlest · 11/03/2024 13:03

Wasn't Princess Charlene ill for several months?

She went back to her home country for a year. Then she was persuaded to return

No one knows what goes on behind closed doors. Nothing would surprise me anymore

RhubarbGingerJam · 11/03/2024 13:08

I just can't believe that anyone with a job in PR or comes would do this. Never mind for the Roysls. I suspect in all the cases you mention, they hire yes men who do what they say, and because they are Royal, they don't listen to advice of professionals when it's given.

Prince Andrew top public relations aide quit after he wasn't listen when he said not to do that interview. Apparently PR guy wanted newspaper interviews focus on his charity work and was ignored.

His private secretary and one of his daughters apparently (according to women who set interview up talk I saw) thought Prince Andrew's interview was a good idea.

So maybe you're right it's less not having good advice and more not following the expensive paid for advice.

Uptospeed · 11/03/2024 13:10

Mind you, it’s certainly taken the spotlight away from Haz and Meg and on to them.

LadyNijo · 11/03/2024 13:11

Of course they think you’re stupid — you haven’t abolished their unearned bloodline privilege, and appear to be perfectly happy with being subjects to a not particularly bright family of toothy white people who do a bit of waving and smiling as ‘work’. Whether or not you think Prince Philip killed Princess Diana in a small white Fiat, Meghan beat up Princess Charlotte in a dispute over bridesmaid dresses, Catherine is AWOL because a face transplant with Nicolas Cage went wrong, or that Prince George (or Louis?) had crossed fingers in the photo because he was signalling for help, is probably a very minor contributing factor.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 11/03/2024 13:14

I think most people are stupid, too. Plenty of evidence on this thread and others in the Royal Family section. Stupid, and barking mad.

Ineedwinenow · 11/03/2024 13:18

I feel really sorry for her that the photo is getting so much criticism, the poor woman has had major surgery, still probably looks and feels like shite ( I did after my surgery, I looked like I had been dug up for about 10 weeks afterwards, it wasn’t until the 3 month mark that I started to have a bit of colour and look better)

But in order to stop the incessant gossip she releases a photo to wish everyone a happy Mother’s Day possibly put filters on due to how she looks and feels and she’s still getting criticised.

If I was her I wouldn’t release anymore family photos, the press and public could fuck off.

Goblinmodeactivated · 11/03/2024 13:22

Yes OP I think they really do

Frisate · 11/03/2024 13:23

When you read any thread about the royal family on this website you understand why they believe they can just say whatever and people will believe them. People will bend over backwards to justify their behaviour and spin any negative story into something positive. In response to your question: yes, they do believe the British public is stupid.

Begsthequestion · 11/03/2024 13:24

Looks like she was photoshopped into that photo.

And it's possible they said William took it to explain why he's not in it.

No idea why they weren't just photographed together in a normal photo, but there must be reason.

UK newspapers are too far up the RF's bum to publish the truth, but as always I'm sure we'll find out from the international press at some point.

Like how they refused to properly report on the nazi marriage between the king at the time (Edward) who abdicated to marry Wallace Simpson, in the 1930s. The British press insisted that the scandal was just down to her being divorced, rather than reveal the current monarch was a nazi sympathiser.

If they can hide that they'll hide anything on their behalf.

Thankfully other countries are able to report freely on our heads of state so we aren't kept as ignorant as they'd like.

TheFancyPoet · 11/03/2024 13:26

yes and they know that a bit of mockery like that won't cost them their income.

Who asked them to release a photo? Believe it or not, there are many people out there who would not give a fig, if they decided that was the way forward, and kept their photos for their own family album, so your ire is misplaced.

Yeah, we'll "fuck off" with their wages as well shall we.

I'd be quite happy with that deal.

I mean who would have thought that adopting the position of the Princess of Wales attracted scrutiny and required a life in public.

I mean it's not like she had a long suffering predecessor to refer to, is it...
