I think @otherwayup has nailed it: she's put on weight. In the car photo she had the same puffy perimeno face as I've got, that neither of us had when we were skinny. I'd probably go into hiding too if for some reason people wanted to pore over pictures of me!

FFS. I've resisted responding to these multiple threads but it's now seriously out of control.
Initial requests that she should be accorded the same level of privacy than anyone else to recover.
Then we've had a week of increasingly conspiratorial theories about why we haven been given more information.
Then they Release a photo of which Catherine admits to photoshopping, cos her husband is basically shite at photography.
Now we're questioning that narrative.

Which will obviously garner more head space when people ask why aren't they sharing.

To be fair, there’s no shortage of people not only buying the bullshit but also trying to shout any scepticism down.

I think the simplest explanation is generally right, and IMO that’s that she genuinely had to have major surgery related to something she didn’t want to announce as she found it unglamorous/embarrassing.

I’m neither royalist nor republican and initially barely even noticed the press on it. But there are a lot of royalists and republicans who’d care, one way or another, and the way it was handled seemed to have sparked their interest, rather than the opposite.

The Royals spend so much money on comms staff that it’s rather unbelievable that they’re making such poor hires. It seems more likely that someone (William, in particular, I imagine) isn’t listening to the advice he (we) pays for.

William having so much time off at the same time as Kate was an unforced mistake. It implies that either he’s workshy - or that Kate is more seriously ill than we were led to believe.

And then the King’s got cancer, and is not confirming which type…

This is why I don't get the lack of repone to initial press inquires - amateur photographer three young kids - photoshopped like many previous issued photos to clean up - nothing to see here. * *Maybe with a humorous well least this time we don't have the extra legs and fingers.

Given last week odd press attention and stories- there was clearly going to be huge interest in photo - why wasn't this reaction anticipated or swiftly dealt with - why give the story time to grow.

Press want stories to sell and there is always public interest in RF - blaming that entirely normal situation rather than the really bad PR handling is just odd.

I think most people don’t believe the narratives because they seem pretty outlandish.

I can easily believe that she does a bit of editing for shadows or grass and trees at the side for the symmetry but why on earth this picture needed editing where it was edited???

I think that Kate probably doesn’t look well ( gained weight, steroid faces etc…) and doesn’t want to be photographed in this state, which is understanding but they misjudged public’s mood. For various reasons public started getting worried and they needed to issue something earlier. Yes, they said “you’ll see her after Easter” but sometimes sticking to your position whatever is not the best way of handling things. It was unfortunate course of events with Charles’s illness and William not being out much and cancelling that appointment which lead to questions from public. Their PR team should have recognised the situation and acted, their approach looks a bit like stubbornly making a point to me. 3 weeks ago a simple photo with thank you for cards and flowers would be enough, now everyone is suspicious.
Thanks God for Lee Anderson’s defection to Reform today. Hope KP will get a bit of a break from journalists . Their story is just the second today 😂

I avoid these threads and this board, like many, many posters here but I'm fed up seeing these multiple threads on trending. No wonder people think that women, as a sex, are lesser. That annoys me. We aren't.

I don’t know how she could’ve been arsed editing a perfectly nice picture to start with. Then making a public statement explaining herself for editing said photo.

When I first saw that photo immediately I thought there was something off, I didn't notice the editing bits but just the fact that her head is so big!? It's like the kids were sat with William originally and they've replaced him with Kate using another random photo, it's so clearly all fake. It's all very strange.

I am not a royal watcher but I have been intrigued by this. The palace originally said she would not be seen until after Easter then released a sloppily edited composite photo to the press and hoped nobody would notice. It all seems a bit panicked and desperate. I’m not remotely interested in what ails Kate as it’s none of my business, but they’ve made the speculation much worse by releasing this photo and then backtracking. I hope she is alright and recovering as she has 3 children who need their mother. It’s all very very bizarre.

I am surprised by number of posters who think it's all now been explained satisfactorily - to me it raised more questions like wtf are PR people playing at being main one.

I deleted my bloody account because the Kate crap was taking up too much of my time and reactivated it for this crap now! I just can't believe that anyone with a job in PR or comes would do this. Never mind for the Roysls. I suspect in all the cases you mention, they hire yes men who do what they say, and because they are Royal, they don't listen to advice of professionals when it's given. Someone will be fired to take the flak. It won't be William or Kate.

I think, to answer your question, men are not talking about how big Kate's head is or what she's wearing or how fat her face or little finger is today. That is the reality. The fact that so many women are earnestly discussing those things is detrimental to all women because it's so very visible.

This seems the most realistic explanation to me. I do think she has an eating disorder too, the pressure to be so slim and perfect must be very harsh. Honestly, when you see her in her 20s (which I said last week) she looked at a much healthier weight, she doesn't need to be as slim as she is now. I'd wonder how much time she gets for herself. For someone who was so sporty when younger, I'm guessing she can't do this now, and it must be hard for her, not just like she can rock up and join any old netball or other group sport team. I think the RF/palace life must be so isolating too.

But the last thing she needs is media/public fussing about her.

The press have goaded them (W&K) into responding because they were disappointed by the lack of updates and engagement.
