Let’s raise a glass and drink to the older generation harbouring the Donald Trumps, Jeremy Clarksons, Danny Bakers, Piers Morgans and royal ‘experts’. Let’s listen and believe and then minimise any effect they have had on the psyche of their consumers. Let’s choose to see these men and some women to be of great moral standing. No bullying and hurting a still young mother of young children to be seen by members of this generation. Let’s pretend that UK polling consistently shows that the older generation is revealed to be the most negative with hardened attitudes towards Meghan. Let’s intentionally believe their opinions, made up drivel and gossip and pretend that no good is done by Meghan. Let’s pretend that Meghan is all about a photo op. Everything she does. All of it. All of the time. Lets ‘other’ another human being to the point where she would no longer want to be alive. Let’s not believe she told the truth. Let’s call her a liar. Let’s not believe her mother, Doria, who spoke about Meghan’s suicide ideation. Let’s pretend we don’t live in glass houses ourselves. Let’s dehumanise another human being and hold on to our righteous indignation towards someone who we choose to see as less than. Let’s find new ways to humiliate her and try and strip away any worth. Let’s create a one dimensional figure and be done with it. Meghan ‘bad’ everyone else ‘good’. Yeh. Sure. Lets create a figure to pillory and then when she is defended to any degree let’s pretend they must be members of the awful, awful Sussex Squad. Let’s hope our pearls don’t shatter as we clutch them rather too hard whilst casting her in the role of the wicked witch.
