Is pasty bad?
Should poor Harry get some bronzer?
I expect there'll be some knocking around the house.

“Old” is clearly bad too. I wouldn’t mind betting that some of the “suits”
are a similar age to the 42 year old Duchess

It think it’s ginger-ist

like many gingers, he doesn’t seem to tan, hence looks pasty (or red, if he gets it wrong)

Ahem, some of us tan AND freckle.

Meghan is literally being tarred and feathered in the UK and hated upon. No compassion for her miscarriage. No compassion for how her family betrayed her before and after the royal wedding. No compassion for the obvious racism she endured instead let’s just deny it. What a sad place parts of the UK is turning into. She is overanalysed and seen through a lens so biased and tainted that objectivity and empathy are no longer applied to the individua

Or it go like this.

Kate is literally being tarred and feathered worldwide and hated upon. No compassion for her cancer, no compassion for under going chemotherapy, no compassion for how her brother and sister in law labelled her a racist in their book and betrayed her, her family, and the royal family for money, in books and interviews, no compassion for the relentless bullying over the whole of social media, no compassion for online rumours that her husband is a murderer and a domestic abuser, let’s just deny it, what a sad place the world is turning into, she is overanalysed and seen through a lens so biased and tainted that objectivity and empathy are no longer applied to the individual.

Semi-interesting development that's been noted.

The statement that's been removed is the initial one Jason Knauf released on Harry's insistence, that confirmed Meghan as his girlfriend. It also set the combative toll towards the media going forward.

Thank you.

Luckily the statement was copied many times, and it's on that TwiX thread!

Here

I’ve always followed RF developments but remember reading that at work at the time and thinking

  1. Prince Harry has a girlfriend? Didn’t realise!
  2. Actually this IS part and parcel of dating a Royal. You can’t date one of the most famous men in the world and complain that people have noticed. Kate and Camilla bore hell with dignity and grace because it’s quite crass to moan that your biggest problem is that people know you are dating a millionaire Prince.
  3. It’s a VERY fine line to moan about the press to the press. The British press could be MUCH worse to the RF but the gentlemans agreement to not use paparazzi pictures is very advantageous to the private life of Royals. Moan to the foreign press if they’re trying to break into Doria’s house but to attack the British press cannot be a good thing. They aren’t children in school, and you aren’t their teacher, they won’t sit in detention reflecting on their behaviour.
  4. Why does he sound like a sulky child? Not very in keeping with the “cheeky prince” persona perpetuated

Now it all falls into place - Petulant Prince and found someone with as big a victim complex as he has.

LaMarschallin · 26/05/2024 15:28

I can't remember the timeline of it all, but I thought that Meghan's picture of the spooning, seemingly post-coital bananas (there's something I never expected to type), the initals necklace and this statement were all tending to force her status as Harry's girlfriend into the public domain.

themessygarden · 26/05/2024 15:43

What was the smear on the front page that Harry refers to? He says it was the week previous to his announcement.

AliceOlive · 26/05/2024 15:44

I didn’t know there were multiple banana-related events for Meghan . Had heard about the writing on bananas here but never read an article about it until just now. What photo did she post?

AliceOlive · 26/05/2024 15:49

My friend’s house cleaner wrote “eat me” on a watermelon that had been sitting on her table for a while. That was one part of what ended their relationship.

tattychicken · 26/05/2024 15:53

I think there were matching beady bracelets too..

themessygarden · 26/05/2024 15:57

Oh okay, thank you. I don't ever remember seeing any of those articles until years later.

Neither of those articles were front page news though ! There was this front page. but nothing else, in the preceding week. Maybe they took offence to the glamour photo. Who knows !

Oh right. Idk then. It could be the glamour shot you’ve posted. I also didn’t see any of these articles until years later as I didn’t take much of an interest back then.

Meghan said they got married, the two of them, and the Archbishop was present. In her mind and heart they did hence the word marriage. Nothing wrong with that. She did not expect everyone to focus on the legal aspect. I see no lie. I do believe she revealed it because of the crass and ignorant gossip and awful reporting questioning her motives regarding Prince Harry. It was a special moment for them.

She is overanalysed and seen through a lens so biased and tainted that objectivity and empathy are no longer applied to the individual. Many old, pasty women and men in suits pile in on her whether in the papers, in books or interviews. They monetise her to sell themselves and their poison. Some of the public willingly drink it.

I admire her spirit. She has done a lot to reach out and help others. I wish her every success for the future.

I would find that mire convincing if the presence of the Archbishop of Canterbury wasn't involved - a private moment between the two of them.

It would also have saved the Archbishop having to clarify that from his point if view the marriage took place on the official day in the official venue.

There was 1 banana photo, and a few showing the exact same bracelet Harry wore.

One of those things that if "you know, you know".

I had no fecking idea, until the statement was released.

@Mummyoflittledragon those 2 articles are shameful - thanks for links as a reminder, truly shocking.

BemusedAmerican · 26/05/2024 17:06

When a banana is not just a banana...

AliceOlive · 26/05/2024 17:18

No one here forgets. Those articles come up pretty frequently as 2/3 of the solid examples of truly awful treatment of Meghan from that time period. Everyone agrees they were disturbing.

DuchessOfPort · 26/05/2024 17:31

Ahh. Millie Mackintosh must be wondering what #friends ever meant.

JSMill · 26/05/2024 18:04

Are they not a bit old for friendship bracelets?

YaMuvva · 26/05/2024 18:07

I think the bracelet thing is particularly controversial because it was before they claim they met when Meghan was with someone else.

Given their record of being loose with the truth, nothing would surprise me

It's quite a while since I actually read the whole articles though - bottom of the class obviously.

This was exactly my thought process when I first read the statement. What a misfire!
