They really don't

I predict there will be an announcement shortly before Easter that her recuperation has gone as planned and she will be resuming duties as expected after Easter (and from that announcement, they'll start putting things in her diary)

Then she'll be seen for the first time on Easter Sunday at church (following which all the chuntering about how she looks will settle down)

Then I think she'll do an early engagement announcing she's taking up a patronage for whichever major charity represents the condition she's had. That will be the time she talks about her illness (one-off - because after that, it'll be about showcasing their work, not talking about herself). That will be when she thanks for cards and the public good wishes, and how she appreciated the undisturbed time to recover.

And in a further couple of months, we'll look back and wonder why so many people got sucked in to a collective folly of needing updates, wanting pix of the DC doing normal things like going to school (which would have to be pap shots, so not a good idea), wanting them to act on the tabloid demands for information.

I think you are right on the button there and agree with your prediction.

This bit though I slightly disagree with - And in a further couple of months, we'll look back and wonder why so many people got sucked in to a collective folly of needing updates, wanting pix of the DC doing normal things like going to school (which would have to be pap shots, so not a good idea), wanting them to act on the tabloid demands for information.

I think they play with fire - it is not good for them when people focus too much on them, question why they are there and give air to dissent!

I’ve always thought this, she did accompany him to an event a few months ago but it’s the only time I’ve noticed it, it would be nice if she had attended the BAFTA’s with him, though I think she may have been on holiday. I like Sophie, it would have been a good PR move for her to step in more while Kate is recuperating and made the RF look more solid and united, working together in a time of crisis.

Like Anne she's been working bloody hard all over the globe. As has Edward. They just don't get the publicity

So you'd love your life and actions raked over by strangers ?

There are lots of things to make up for that is all I'm saying

Novella4 · 29/02/2024 14:20

William himself has added fuel to the fire with his erratic and strange behaviour.
Did someone say the Windsor’s spokesperson said all is fine re Catherine ? Well what the hell is wrong with William then ?

Maybe controversial but I don't think Kate is anywhere near as ill as people fear. She and Billy Idle have never exactly chomped at the bit to work, have they? I think she had a minor procedure and has used it as an excuse to have a few months off from her arduous schedule of a couple of half-days a week showing up and smiling.

Yes those are my thoughts too. I think the operation was an opportunity to have a winter break Maybe they were tired and needed a break and in preparation to cover for Charles Kate is well liked by the press and they won't give her a hard time. I think she will return looking fit and radiant - probably on Easter Sunday.

Roussette · 29/02/2024 14:22

Tired and needed a break? Good grief!

They have 16-20 weeks off every year as it is! And barely work a day a week

ToffeeTalk · 29/02/2024 14:23

MrsLeonFarrell · 29/02/2024 14:17

I agree.

William is at an engagement today and apparently mentioned Catherine.

I doubt it will stop the online rubbish though.

He said nothing of any significance at all.

Novella4 · 29/02/2024 14:23

And before the usual defence is mentioned, many millions of us have ill parents , ill spouses , ill children
We continue to work and run homes without billions in the bank and without 90 staff to help

Yes indeed.

I think such a long break needs more explanation when you're in their position, especially if it goes beyond Easter.

Daisyislazy · 29/02/2024 14:24

@yesmen " go down the mines" 🤣🤣

justasking111 · 29/02/2024 14:24

Reading these posts I feel sorry for working colleagues that go off sick for extended periods imagining the stories you invent to explain their absence 🙄

I think all that's happened is that William was required to respond to a direct question about Kate on his visit this morning, and said something bland. He also referenced her when he said anti-semitism is not good. The strong implication is that she is still alive.

No statement by KP as far as I can see.

Your work colleague isn't really comparable to the RF though are they?

It's one possibility mooted on the internet.

Terrace probably rather than patio.

The thing is...and I'm not sure the Royals get this, if they can disappear for weeks and months, one wonders if they're needed at all. Public perception is very important
I want to add that if Kate is ill, she should be having all the time needed to get well again.

I had a look at the court circular and was astonished at how much they do. S and E also have their son at home. Unless he’s at boarding school.

yesmen · 29/02/2024 14:30

I think he got in BIG trouble with the Israelis.

Hence this visit today - they brought him to heal.

Are there any weapons deals between the UK and Israel? Does anyone know?

Daisyislazy · 29/02/2024 14:30

Does one think the RF has been watching Brookie again?

Matter of opinion.

Same as on Tuesday and he's out and about at an engagement today. No idea what the "rules" are on what goes in that diary or not. Seems a bit daft having a half complete thing running, but it doesn't mean he won't be doing any.

I read somewhere about several engagements he has coming up .

Today's visit to a synagogue was announced at the same time as the previous visit to the Red Cross re. the Gaza's humanitarian crisis.

They announced that there would be two engagements related to the war.

There was confirmation later that the second visit would be to a synagogue in the UK.
