I would laugh my socks off if she's a mumsnetter- sat on her sofa reading all this bumph and writing posts on is my partner having an affair, my awful in laws etc, etc

MsForgetful · 29/02/2024 11:05

Well that is it isn't it, the reason people are discussing this at length, because it does in fact look unstable and poorly run at the moment.

But you have been able to knock out a few lines on here quite happily, so why hasn’t Kate even managed that?

I mean, how DO we know the PoW hasn’t managed that? I don’t know her MN screen name. I didn’t think anyone did. MNHQ have kept it very… mum. For all we know, she was posting on that other sick note thread about the woman whose boss expected her back the next DAY after they took out all of her groin lymph nodes on one side (and she worked for the NHS!!!!) and now she’s off for three months. Catherine, on painkillers and stuck in the Royal IKEA Malm sick bed (it’s only temporary, but the King may borrow it next), typing, “Don’t let the bastards treat you like that!”

@ExactlySo "W&C are not yet King and Queen. Their time for wall to wall public duties is yet to come.

They have made it clear that they want to be hands on parents and not create another dysfunctional family.

I think they are very sensible indeed."

So how many tax payer funded years do they both get to be "hands on parents"? And "wall to wall public duties?" Seriously?

A Royalist on here said she did not expect them to do any more than they're doing until Louis is 18!
WTAF!

I hope she's not she'll bust her stitches laughing at some of the 🦇💩 on here 😂

For me, the most compelling ‘clue’ that something is wrong is the lack of response to the whole internet saying that something is wrong!

I think it’s quite unusual for them to not even try to quell this level of speculation. It’s surprising that they’ve not tried to appease people with a generic photo of Kate and a message of thanks for the well wishes. People might not buy it, but usually they’d give it a go anyway! 😅

@ExactlySo Yes, I am a Republican. But I am no more envious of the RF than I am of any other very rich people. Which isn't very.

And no, I don't want them to see less of their children. Go them, IMHO. But they could put themselves about a bit while those children are at school, surely? They could work a normal working week like everyone else?

Yes

I have said this continually on here. They have 16-20 weeks off a year, school hols etc.
The rest of the time there should be the equivalent of one very full time working parent, (shared between them if that's what they want).

But they don't do that

We all wish Kate well but surely if they can both disappear for 3 months like now, it begs the question...do we need them at all?

When is Willams's next official engagement, please?

Last week I read that he was scheduled to visit a synagogue this week so I guess that must be happening very soon. Also some St David's Day stuff tomorrow.

justasking111 · 29/02/2024 10:07

Re memorial could be that Harry latest court case needed some input, leverage from William on behalf of Charles.

Then why didn’t they say that. Needed to attend court duties. It’s all so opaque.
Hoping we are all too busy and overworked paying for all of this to see the 3 month holidays and their piss poor contribution.

I am a royalist and I am beginning to tire of the gravy train then I can only imagine others with more republican leanings must be bloody seething. I am coming around to abolishing the House of Lords and making the royal family work for themselves. I would rather the money was spent on children’s hospitals and neonatal units and maternity services.

pinksunglasses · 29/02/2024 11:31

Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if the events of the last couple of years have given Kate pause for thought about what she - and her children - are actually signed up to.

Before the Queen died, the throne must have seemed a more distant concept - for her and William, and for George. Suddenly, they find themselves on the cusp of it. Throw in the Harry & Meghan drama, it’s been a very turbulent few years and I think anybody - especially somebody who married in and therefore could hypothetically leave - would have at least cast a brief glance towards the door.

If the rumours of marital discord are true, maybe a separation seems preferable to Kate. No matter how well prepared you think you are for anything, having children will open up a new perspective on things. Maybe the prospect of a royal life is no longer as appealing as it was in 2012.

MaggieFS · 29/02/2024 10:24

I don’t believe any of the nutty conspiracy theories around Catherine. I think she’s convalescing and that’s it.
But considering all the times William has used, or rather had photos taken of himself with his children, where are the Wales children?
That makes me worry a bit - you’d think just because Catherine is indisposed, William and their children would carry on in her absence

I don't think you need to worry, I'm sure they are carrying on. The children will no doubt be going to and from school entirely as normal. Isn't there a deal with the press, (official or unofficial?) that in return for being photographed at key moments (first day at school etc.) they aren't followed by paps on a day to day basis?

It illegal in this country to take and publish photos of anyone under 18, without the parents’ permission.

LastTrainEast · 29/02/2024 12:08

"illegal in this country to take and publish photos of anyone under 18, without the parents’ permission"

What country are you in because that is not true in the UK.

There is no reasonable expectation of privacy in a public space,

Would you admit to rushing to court to prevent you estranged brother from further damaging the royal institution.

I wouldn't discuss this type of thing outside my own close family.

There's been cases where suspected peadophiles here have been prosecuted photographing in a park and at our local paddling pool. But that's in Wales. I've no idea how it works elsewhere.

The timing fits, it's saner than other comments on here.

cyclamenqueen · 29/02/2024 12:25

I suspect it was more likely a security briefing to discuss the implications of the verdict either way . But honestly who knows and does it really matter , it was a family memorial service, albeit a high profile one, not the state opening of Parliament.

Roussette · 29/02/2024 12:26

If that's what he was doing the likes of the DM would've picked up on it with headlines like..
Harry causes William to miss his godfather's memorial service!!!
Wonderful clickbait for them and masses of sympathy for W

If there was a need for a super injunction because of a fear about what Harry might say given that he would be furious with the decision in his case against the Home Office, then it obviously prompts the question: what is it that William needs to cover up? Must be big.

It isn't. It would be interfering in a court case he is not involved in. It makes no sense at all for him to dash away because the judgement had already happened, the parties were probably already aware of it before it was made public too.

MaggieFS · 29/02/2024 12:32

I can't see why Harry's court decision would be so urgent that W would have to skip the service, rather than just wait an hour or so.

PW is making his synagogue visit right now.

ToffeeTalk · 29/02/2024 12:36

The timing fits but of course no-one is going to say they've sought or have been granted a super injunction. It defeats the purpose. But I think Harry has almost certainly got quite a lot of ammunition under his belt which he's held back and there's no doubt he's fuming.

MaggieFS · 29/02/2024 12:37

Newsflash: PW has been spotted doing some actual work. Carrying on as normal.
