I think the PR for the Palace is really bad. People have kept quiet out of respect for Kate's illness but it's just not adding up anymore.
I have theories but won't add fuel to the fire by going into detail on here. All I can say is, I wish Kate well and hope she gains strength every day

HemlockSoup · 28/02/2024 11:18

Glad to see the scatological chat has subsided.

mrsmingleton · 28/02/2024 11:20

@Roussette what do you think the Palace should be doing then as regards Kate?

Serenster · 28/02/2024 11:21

I hope that whatever is going on behind the scenes doesn’t cause the any more stress - I can imagine they have quite enough to be getting on with tight now.

I’m also personally amused that they’ve unintentionally driven a coach and horses through certain assertions made elsewhere that senior royals simply cannot pull out of event due to personal circumstances, or cannot drop out of public sight to have medical issues dealt with. Clearly, they can - and they do.

I understand that Catherine is recovering, but I'd expect her to be functioning well 6 weeks after abdominal surgery- even serious surgery. For context, my 85 year old father was up, driving and out and about at this stage after a partial colectomy and stoma creation for cancer despite a cardiac event and several post op complications.

So, even if she’s not up for public events, she should be able to deal with a health problem with the kids.

Edited

And my 25-year-old BIL was back in hospital six weeks after major abdominal surgery. It’s entirely dependent on the patient and the situation; there’s no “should”.

Yeah but they don't or else no one would have noticed. The whole reason that we're all interested is that it's very unusual.

KnittedCardi · 28/02/2024 11:27

You know what? All conspiracies aside, and oh they have nannies etc. What if, for example, one of the kids was bullied really badly, fell over and hurt themselves, was terribly sick at school. With Kate out of action, I would assume William would go into Dad mode and go and sort it out. Hence him being seen driving out of the grounds.

Minikievs · 28/02/2024 11:32

Has anyone seen all the kids arrive at school this morning? That would remove the speculation of "G/C/L has broken their arm/leg/collar bone"

JaneJeffer · 28/02/2024 11:33

ShirleyPhallus · 28/02/2024 10:23

The conspiracy theories on this on twitter are WILD

What are they saying?

cathyandclaire · 28/02/2024 11:36

There is a usual/ “should" recovery time range. Anything longer is usually because of complications, pre-existing conditions or general frailty, as was the case with your BIL. From everything that has been released by their PR the POW ‘continues to be doing well’ which after 6 weeks in a healthy 42 year old should be up and about. So, either the updates are inaccurate or she should be returning to strength.

Thankfully, people don’t tend to spy on primary school children…. 🙄

Who am I to be telling the Palace what to do.
Whatever I say, you won't like.

mrsmingleton · 28/02/2024 11:41

@Roussette oh so you can say it is not right but you can't suggest any alternatives ? Makes sense.

SwishSwishBisch · 28/02/2024 11:42

Despite having very little interest in the goings on of the RF usually, I got totally pulled into this rabbit hole yesterday 😂

Most plausible theory (to my purely speculative and uninformed mind); some sort of breakdown requiring rehab (possibly and surgery)

Outthedoor24 · 28/02/2024 11:43

I doubt it would have been anything to do with the children. If something minor happened nannies would have dealt with it. If something major happened they'd have announced it.

Which means it has to be something to do with William himself, either physical or mental.

I am starting to wonder if it's been a sort of MH breakdown, the realisation his Godfather is away, his DGPs are gone, his Dad and (Auntie) Sarah both have cancer.

He doesnt have his brother beside him. And that trust is gone. He must be under an incredible amount of pressure and nobody to really have his back.

The Queen for years had the rock solid support of Philip, her mother, her sister, her cousins, and Anne, Charles, Edward and Andrew 😬

Saladcreamdreams · 28/02/2024 11:43

Twitter is going into overdrive with conspiracy theories.
Spanish media are saying KM is in a coma.
I really think she is seriously poorly.
Does anyone think KP will feel pressured now to release something like a photo of her reading her get well cards a la King Charles or issue a statement from her saying thanks for the well wishes or something, the silence seems deafening.

repopupieres · 28/02/2024 11:45

Spendonsend · 28/02/2024 09:57

I was wondering that. Some sort of credible security threat. (Not necessarily due to gaza)

Surely they would cancel the whole thing or the news may not have got out in time and they may have popped off Andrew by mistake. Oh wait ...

mrsmingleton · 28/02/2024 11:41

@Roussette oh so you can say it is not right but you can't suggest any alternatives ? Makes sense.

I rest my case

I find the situation unusual. I would've thought there would be a pic or two of William with the children getting out of a car at school or something just to reassure the public that life is carrying on as normal. That is the sort of thing that has happened in the past, but nothing

I hope my answer is sufficient for you MrsM

Oh go on. Pray do tell.

mrsmingleton · 28/02/2024 11:47

I'm sure Princess Anne and Sophie and Edward are a good support system for him as well as Zara and Mike. Admittedly when your father is ill it is a very distressing time as you are unable to do anything about it and realise that if they go you are next in the line for mortality. Plus of course the whole Kate thing.

I'm sorry - I don't think I tagged you in my post.

JaneJeffer · 28/02/2024 11:49

Why do people keep saying Kate is healthy? Healthy people don't need long hospital stays! She may look healthy but obviously isn't.

Minikievs · 28/02/2024 11:49

@Serenster I didn't mean "spying" on little kids. But given the speculation and the press reports yesterday, just whether the Daily Fail had done a "oh look, the Wales children happily arriving at school"
That's all 🤷‍♀️
