Harry can't win. If he'd stayed in LA, this thread would have branded him heartless.

It's definitely odd that KC was out the gap after less than half an hour.

I don't agree. I think people would've assumed that it meant the King's prognosis wasn't serious, which is a good thing. They made it clear he'd spoken to both sons on the telephone. Willy hasn't raced round to see him.

Uricon2 · 06/02/2024 17:14

Although there is a slightly amusing aspect amongst all the grimness to Charles and Camilla legging it through the back door as Harry comes in at the front, I think (and hope) he'll see him again, possibly at Sandringham.

Something just occurred-anniversary of the death of George VI today. The late QE ALWAYS spent it at Sandringham, I think the members of the RF who're around hold prayers.

That's why I think he's gone back to Sandringham.

Southdweller · 06/02/2024 17:14

Well as Yacht Girl would say any publicity is good publicity Harry! Get on that plane and don't forget my jewels on the way back.

Janetime · 06/02/2024 17:14

goodbyestranger · 06/02/2024 17:09

I certainly hope Harry joins Charles at Sandringham.

I’m not sure I do to be honest, Charles is going through a traumatic time, he had his prostate done, just found out he’s cancer, started treatment yesterday and his son who has caused him a lot of pain, has just fronted up. The emotional toll will be huge.

quite frankly this isn’t about harry, and it’s really nauseating how some folks are making it about him. It’s about Charles. Being comfortable and allowed to recuperate in peace.

He could win by not ripping his family to pieces in the first place then just ringing his df. Works for most folk.

So Harry and Meghan are so concerned about Charles health, they still refuse to bring his grands children to meet him. Yes all about the optics for the has-beens.

If they had they would have been accused of making it all about them
They can't do right for doing wrong
Whatever they do it will posters will fund some offence

Bouledeneige · 06/02/2024 17:15

Let's hope that in a time of crisis family's realise what's most important and override recent hurts and disputes. Maybe you can't forgive or forget right away but maybe you can set those things to one side when you need to - because underneath it all there is still love and care.

I don't think we should all get angry and upset on their behalves. I've been through a few heartbreaking Issues in my family - I'd hope cancer would override all that and make us focus on what's most important.

Yes maybe H will finally see the error of his ways, beg forgiveness and they can all move on.

Lol

You can lol if you want but the day I received my cancer diagnosis my husband and I went home and just sat talking as we tried to take it in . I only contacted my adult DC the next day and yes their instinct was to rush to my house but I asked for a couple of days to get my head round it all . And there was no family discord in our situation so sorry but it’s not a given that Charles was desperate to see Harry much as I am sure he loves him.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 06/02/2024 17:14

I wouldn’t be surprised if he does go it’ll be on the helicopter.

I believe they can land in the grounds and leave the chopper unseen, just like they got on it unseen at Buckingham palace.

In many ways that would be rather amusing, seeing all the reporters stood outside BP saying “but where did Harry go? He went in and never came back out”

Very fair points right there, though I still think we'll hear about it - if only from the wretched Scobie

Edited to add that if Harry was seen to go in but not out, there'd probably be speculation that they'd shoved him in a dungeon Wink

Bouledeneige · 06/02/2024 17:18

I think the problem will be if Harry can make that transition but his wife is still angry with her in-laws and doesn't want any rapprochement.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 06/02/2024 17:19

RoyallyRhubarb · 06/02/2024 17:07

Harry was last seen chasing Their Majs down the corridors shouting “Lend us a fiver. Or make it a tenner while you’re at it” with Charles muttering under his breath “Get all those counterfeit Scottish twenty pound notes out from under the bed and pay him off that way. And remember, it didn’t come from us”

Sometimes among all the dross on a thread there's a comment that is absolute gold.

Hope you're ok now Flowers.

Yep, the last thing anyone needs in time of trauma and crisis is having to deal with estranged trouble causing rels.

Mylovelygreendress · 06/02/2024 16:06

If the situation was so bad why did they want the half in / half out option ?

They needed to leave the country they didn’t intend to leave the RF. It was the queen who said you can’t be half in half out which is fair enough.

Well maybe just maybe in these circumstances the pair of grifters should finally apologise publicly for all the torment and crap they have thrown at Charles , Camilla and the rest of their family with their recent actions and nasty comments, show they are actually wanting to make amends.

But seeing the disrespect Meghan shows for her own sick father and the late queen, forgive us if we think its all bullshit again for publicity.

Edited

There’s been rumours for years of a tunnel between Clarence House and Buckingham palace. Would be an amusing time to use it - through the tunnel while everyone is distracted by C&C driving down the mall

Mylovelygreendress · 06/02/2024 17:23

Thank you . I have finished my treatment and all looking good. It was a worrying and exhausting time for all the family but DH and DC were great .

Harry left Heathrow just after 1pm. Are we certain he only arrived at Clarence House at 3.20 - over is that just when it was reported? It shouldn’t take that long to head down the M4.

Cosmiccrash485 · 06/02/2024 14:21

The majority of people disagree with this but if they actually read what Harry has said about other members of the RF in Spare, and ignore what was said in all of the many articles written about the book, or listen to media interviews about what was written, then they’d see he portrayed his family in a fairly reasonable way tbh.

None of the portrayals were particularly harsh. Nothing that would prevent a proper reconciliation imho. The press have a way of amplifying feuds for financial gain. And Harry was naieve about the public’s reaction to the book and how it would be quoted and spun, and he was outmanoeuvred in the hands of interviewers and broadcasters much more skilled than him, for huge royalties. Yes even Oprah wasn’t interviewing them out of the goodness of her heart.

I also think Harry had some justification for feeling hurt and discarded. And that his wife experienced bias because of her colour, her feminism, her profession, her independence and not least her nationality. It was two completely different worlds colliding.

It all blew up at a difficult time of transition for the RF. Prince Philip was gravely ill. The late Queen was still in control but perhaps stepping back. Charles was stepping forward but didn’t quite yet have the final say. The pandemic happened. No one was properly on top of things or leading and I think Harry and his wife fell through the cracks.

This is all speculation on my part but it’s reasonable to assume that Harry, having been brought up right in the heart of things, and being really skilled at his job and popular, with his mother’s ease with the public, thought his marriage would be the point where his supporting role would be recognised officially with a title perhaps, that he would receive a gift of a decent home or estate for him and his wife and his future family.

After all, his Uncle Andrew who did his job poorly and was subject to serious, sleazy, allegations, was accommodated in comfort in an enormous mansion on the Windsor estate? Surely Harry was deserving of at least the same respect?

But no, Harry, possibly still suffering the lingering prejudice against his mother, by Charles and Camilla, was humiliated in front of his wife by being offered a small “cottage” - small being a relative term in royal circles 😃 - and his role was unclear - and his wife, in his eyes, disrespected. Add in a few racist comments from family members and you can see how it all exploded.

A bright senior courtier could have foreseen the issue and had a word in various ears and headed all of this off at the pass. Instead of which, Harry, excited by the prospect of his marriage and full of hope for the future, but also being impulsive and easily hurt by yet again being put second, exploded at what he considered to be lack of respect, made demands and handled it all badly and went off in a huff.

And the RF handled it badly too. The interesting question though is why?

Was it all bad timing, the pandemic, Prince Philip’s decline and the late Queen’s diminishing control?

Or was it that KC wanted to support his son but had to once again put Camilla’s views ahead of his son?

Or was Harry’s fraternal relationship with William so poor that he and M were always going to be banished to “mouldy” Nottm cottage?

Who knows?

Let’s hope they can put it all behind them.

<PS I desperately need funds to refurbish our bathroom so if any royalty magazine or any publication needs a royal correspondent where facts don’t particularly matter, please could they drop me a line? 😉😂>

Omid is that you?😀

His dad and minions ripped Diana to shreds, used any opportunity to trash her in the press. Isn’t he just following his father’s footsteps?

Nah, the sentences are far too well constructed for it to be Scooby.
