Just announced on the bbc, doesn’t say what sort yet. Hope he’s going to be ok.

Buckingham Palace said a while ago that they will not be using non working royals as Counsellors of State. No Andrew, Harry or Beatrice.

(I wouldn't actually mind about the last two except for the tabloid headlines)

roastedrapidly · 05/02/2024 18:14

Pretty sad that his youngest son is estranged...I really hope Harry gets his priorities straight and comes to see his dad.

Ihadittoo · 05/02/2024 18:15

Poor poor William, what a burden of supporting his wife and now this, christ, doesn't matter what you think of the monarchy this is awful on a personal level

CormorantStrikesBack · 05/02/2024 18:15

I know Anne, Edward and Sophie do a lot. Maybe it’s time to see if Beatrice and Eugenie still want to do more royal stuff? I believe they were keen before. But obviously have families now so maybe less so now.

I hope KC responds well to the treatment. I feel for Camilla as she must be worried.

And Harry and Meghan.

no but kate is recuperating herself, and william was taking a back seat.
bad timing.

MrsLeonFarrell · 05/02/2024 18:16

I hope Charles gets well soon, I hope Catherine heals quickly. On a human level I can appreciate what a difficult few years that family has been through.

Doseofreality · 05/02/2024 18:16

Yes, Google it. Harry King at the age of 38.

exactly

RememberingItAll · 05/02/2024 18:16

I think that would make a lot more of the public into republicans!

Even better!

I do wish Charles well though and hope he recovers.

Typical, this thread is not even about Harry, and Meghan, but as usual some posters can't help having a nasty dig at them. Absolutely pathetic. Obsessed or what!

Yes, Google it. Harry King at the age of 38.

I hope not, purely because that would mean the death of Charles, William and his 3 children.

themessygarden · 05/02/2024 18:18

Gosh, thats awful, he hasn't looked well for a while now. I hope he recovers fully.

He's 39

Belindabelle · 05/02/2024 18:19

I do agree that the King should have privacy, but announcing he has cancer without being specific will lead to speculation.

Stepping back for now from royal duties. Guess William and the others will have to step up. Treatment has been started today.

How can William realistically step up when his wife's just come out of hospital after major surgery?

daisypond · 05/02/2024 18:19

CormorantStrikesBack · 05/02/2024 18:05

Doesn’t say what the treatment is but whether it’s chemotherapy or radiotherapy it will be tough I guess..

Why do you think that? I’ve had cancer, twice, and didn’t have radiotherapy or chemotherapy either time. My DH has also had cancer - no radiotherapy or chemo there either. Lots of cancers don’t respond to chemotherapy.

Belindabelle · 05/02/2024 18:21

I think given his age, 75, we have to be realistic about the situation.

Blimey, give the doctors a chance! My nan had cancer in her seventies and lived to 93. Bear in mind he'll have world class treatment too.

His age has nothing to do with it. All that matters is the stage of the cancer and if it’s operable.

They have staff. Much easier, practically, than for the rest of us.

judgementfail · 05/02/2024 18:23

Doseofreality · 05/02/2024 18:09

Didn’t Nostradamus predict this (and also predicted there will be King Harry)!

No he didn't. Just some cryptic nonsense about a king being usurped by someone with no mark of a king.

Which is a million miles away from Harry Will be King. William and all the children are ahead of him for a start.

That is so good to hear. It's such a scary thing to be diagnosed with. It didn't happen like that for us, but a success story is always welcome.

Exactly. My gran was successfully treated for cancer in her late 80s.
