Many of us use the word irony incorrectly. I do, although I'm aware as I speak/write that I'm not using it quite correctly. However, language changes over time. When I first heard people say 'it was like I was' instead of the correct 'it was as if I was', it sounded really strange, but it's become common practice.

Ah, like a noun, as if a verb, the dear proper old days. No, I am not mocking. I mean I look like my father and it looks as if it's going to rain, even as far down as Sandringham probably.

Clearly the King had a plan in place with his doctors to recuperate outside London and Harry decided to bomb over regardless, hence the brief meeting. It’s a little surprising they didn’t delay the King’s departure but then again why would Camilla want to spend more time than is necessary with Harry after the awful things he’s said and written about her? Plus how can they trust him not to blab about what’s going on? People are excited about a potential family rapprochement but I think it is still a long way off happening.

Thanks jeff. Not hugely material because the threads yesterday all seemed to amalgamate into one tbh, I probably lost track. All comments were early or mid afternoon anyhow not posted over any period of time. It's also possible that I went sideways to avoid the hilarity of the very long string of cheese posts - just too funny for me, I couldn't keep up. No idea - you tell me!

Well it was apparently a very brief meeting with Harry and Charles, and now Charles is off to sandringham, which is a bit odd I think.

My Palace Sources say the meeting went like this:

Footman: The Duke of Sussex, Your Majesty
Harry: Hi Pops!
HMTK: Oh, it’s you. Nice to seeyoumustdashisrhatthetimealready? See him out, would you?
Harry: But Papa!
HMTK: (in the style of Scott Mills) Love you bye.

Can you imagine if your father treated you like that. Even without the added humiliation of being in the eye of the world’s press. I’m sorry but that’s just awful awful behaviour.

goodbyestranger · 06/02/2024 16:54

It's inconceivable that Harry won't also go to Sandringham, surely?

RoyallyRhubarb · 06/02/2024 16:55

Bit of a typo there @Delphigirl i think you must have meant “son” instead of “father.”

As others have said I imagine they're all meeting up at Sandringham. Even though H has behaved like a petulant prat I doubt he'd only be given a 30min audience.

Delphigirl · 06/02/2024 16:57

So why not give him a seat in the bird? Why not stay long enough to have a cup of tea and a bloody cucumber sandwich?

MaturingCheeseball · 06/02/2024 16:57

I heard on good authority and it has been echoed - that Harry wanted Windsor Castle. This was when he was pressing for some sort of equal partnership with William. Similarly he wanted his wedding to be at Westminster Abbey/St Paul’s. Anyway, the Queen soon scotched that plan.

Also I understand Harry was to have Highgrove after the King’s death. Who knows, he may still.

Well, we don't know what went on behind closed doors. Perhaps Charles said that Harry had to apologize to Camilla for the things he said about her in Spare or he wouldn't be welcome in their home.

Indeed Grin.

wildernesssw · 06/02/2024 16:57

Charles has just had a cancer diagnosis, has started treatment, and has had the stress of Harry's attacks over the past 3 or 4 years. I think he is completely entitled to put himself first at the moment, not his son.

Especially if the son didn't bother check whether his proposed visit was at a good time, which may have been the case. Alternatively, maybe Harry and Charles agreed that Harry would say a quick hello, and they would meet again for longer when he had got over any jet lag and Charles didn't have other plans.

Yes, we get the message about how awful HM is as a father - however, given that we don't know what happened throwing abuse around is pointless. For all we know His Hazness charged in and demanded the famous apology from his family before talking - and frankly, after what he's supposedly said about Camilla, I doubt she wanted to spend any time in his company.

How on earth do you know that? How? Perhaps Charles had said that he was off to Sandringham, it's all arranged, so it will be a brief hello, but we will catch up at Sandringham or wherever.

Delphigirl · 06/02/2024 16:58

I don’t buy it. What a crap dad. 20 minutes.

Southdweller · 06/02/2024 16:59

Most likely Harry walked in and said "Dad, I hear you are unwell are you going to apologise to me and Megsy yet, before you croak it?".

No wonder Charles and Camilla were laughing in the car when they left.

This would be my view as well. It's simply too early to hazard a guess. Perhaps Harry wants a shower and a nap and they'll all meet up for dinner or tomorrow.

Yep once the palace hide the family jewels and silver from Harry and set up some anti-bugging and recording equipment. 😂

Isn't Highgrove part of the Duchy of Cornwall?

I would still disagree with you in the frail part. He will struggle on chemotherapy- sadly!

I don't think he is one bit frail! I think he's pretty good for his age!

Janiie · 06/02/2024 17:01

I mean it would be funny if H was spotted at Heathrow returning to LA after his 20min chat... he's just tone deaf isnf he. His dad isnt on deaths door surely a zoom chat would've sufficed.
