It appears to be a sort of museum, open to pre-booked visitors during the summer and for various charity events throughout the year. The family mausoleum is nearby. Some of the contents of the ex-royal yacht are housed there.

It doesn’t sound like a very good prospect for a family home with young dc tbh. I believe W & K also rejected it when they were moving to Windsor.

I don’t remember Harry needing to give 28 days before coming back to the UK. Is that so security can be ready for him?

It would be a shame to come all the way over from California and then be in London when his father is in Sandringham and brother in Windsor.

Frogmore House and Frogmore Cottage are two different buildings.

There was never any question of Harry and Meghan living at Frogmore House.

@Cosmiccrash485 it was never going to be Frogmore House, it was always Frogmore Cottage after they turned down the Kensington Palace apartment ( approximately 20 roooms).

Was that not if he wanted to stay in Royal premises ?

My interpretation is that if he wants the Home Office to provide security, they need 28 days to plan.

Harry and Meghan held their wedding reception at Frogmore House. They lived at Frogmore Cottage (as others have said, they are two separate properties) after their wedding. It was originally 5 houses, which was converted into a single dwelling.

I've always thought the most often used photo of Frogmore Cottage is terribly unflattering. If you look at an overhead picture, I think it certainly is comparable to Gatcombe Park.

Btw I imagine that Princess Anne does have an apartment or at least accommodation somewhere in London when she is carrying out her official duties. She’s not staying in Tooting Premier Inn that’s for sure 😃

Well it was apparently a very brief meeting with Harry and Charles, and now Charles is off to sandringham, which is a bit odd I think.

Anne, Edward and previously Andrew all used apartments at Buckingham Palace when they were in London.

Not 20+ room apartments at KP like Harry and Meghan were offered though.

Seems rather odd to me too; Harry arrives 15.21 and Charles and Camilla leave for Sandringham from Buckingham Palace 15.48 according to the BBC website 🤷🏼‍♀️

After the debacle of Sunninghill none of the royals have been given privately owned homes. It worked with Anne and Gatcombe, but failed miserably with Andrew and Fergie and their place.

Bagshot is Crown Estate property. Royal Lodge is Crown Estate. Kensington Palace is Crown Estate.

The size of William's apartment at KP is very similar to the one offered to Harry. They opted instead for Frogmore and if they'd stayed as working royals no doubt they'd have used the apartments in BP and SJP when in central London in the same way Anne, Edward and Sophie do.

I guess the timing of Harry's arrival was just unfortunate. But he's here now (UK) so he'll follow on to Sandringham shortly?

Well, from what I have read on here it looks as if Harry has landed so I really am going to switch on a spot of TV news.

I would assume so. I can't imagine Charles just turning him away, after he traveled all that distance.

Firstly - why does X need to be stood outside BP? What she says is no more or less relevant if she's not stood blocking tourists from getting a pic.

Secondly - she then waffled for 10 minutes saying absolutely nothing at all. She was so busy waffling nothing that she missed the fact the King and Queen drove down the road behind her and the woman in the studio had to tell her!

There’s a difference though between where you raise your dc or your family home and where you stay in London to do your job. That’s my point. I’m sure Andrew used to stay in Buck Pal occasionally despite having his pile at Windsor.

This is increasingly off the point of the thread for which I apologise but I thought H&M would have been given the equivalent of Anmer Hall which was a gift from the late Queen to K&W and then had a million+ renovation.

Given that, I think H&M could have been offered a small Manor House in the Cotswolds or somewhere?

It’s obviously not literally about pounds spent where Harry is concerned, but more about recognition and feeling equally valued within the family, even though his official role is less exalted than the others. Or one might say, especially when his lot in life is to always come second, it would have been a sensitive move.

Heck they could have sold Birkhall and the Castle of May to pay for it. And Prince Philips’s old cottage. Why do KC & C need to have so many residences?
