Indifference to PoW?

FaiIureToLunch · 28/01/2024 08:51

I find it strange that there’s no real interest or concern from the public about POW being in hospital. Nobody seems to be that bothered. If you compare it to the circus if Diana had been in the same situation….. I just find it odd. I always thought she was relatively popular because we’re constantly told she is but actually…. Tumbleweed.

I know it’s her own business etc but it just feels quite odd that somebody can disappear and there is no interest in why. I don’t really know or care what’s happened or why, but the silence is really intriguing. It reminds me of when the brexit referendum happened and I had no idea that there was such strong feeling about the EU…. I had no idea that there was such apathy about the PoW until now. It’s been a real eye opener for me.

I reckon the next generation or two, the monarchy will be gone.

There's not really much to say though is there? Just giving her privacy. No need for endless speculation. She's still in hospital presumably.

StillProcrastinating · 28/01/2024 08:54

I like to think it’s because we’re respecting her right to privacy

BroughttoyoubyBerocca · 28/01/2024 08:54

If you are defining “no interest” as a lack of sensational headlines in the scum tabloids then that’s only a good thing. The press statement was probably enough.

the popularity ratings are fairly good for the entire Royal family at the moment.

Candleabra · 28/01/2024 08:55

There’s been endless speculation!
But most people are respecting the POW’s right to privacy in what appears to be a very difficult time.

BroughttoyoubyBerocca · 28/01/2024 08:57

Also the fall out from that awful prank, where the Radio station called the hospital is probably another reason for the press to leave her alone. She’s in hospital or recovering elsewhere, she’s not on a reality TV program.

Mysterian · 28/01/2024 08:57

It's not indifference. It's just giving her respectful space rather than being all nosey.

LadyWhitwell · 28/01/2024 08:58

I am surprised as well that the usual royalists haven't left flowers or cards outside the hospital like they would have had it been Diana.

ElevenSeven · 28/01/2024 08:58

Diana leaked to the press

Overtheatlantic · 28/01/2024 08:58

I’m sure the press knows but aren’t allowed to say. The DM are currently dragging Prince Albert through the mud to keep themselves busy.

Prince Albert? What’s he done to deserve that 😁

Yes this is what I mean. The usual royalists are nowhere to be seen

Diana leaked to the press

Eh? Have we time travelled back to 1994?

What's that got to do with anything?

I'm assuming there's an agreement with the media to leave her alone atm, it seems to be serious surgery

Overtheatlantic · 28/01/2024 09:01

Albert is sleazy but he pays out 😆

No I’m not taking about scummy headlines at all. The world of far better off without that obviously, just the general lack of …. Interest.

for me the silence is the most interesting part.

She would like privacy and it's her right. Endless speculation is pointless. Let's leave her be.

Thunderbird7 · 28/01/2024 09:03

I think it’s a more healthy relationship… the Diana thing was weird & definitely not a sign the monarchy was more stable in the 80s/90s!

William is liked, George is liked, the future of the monarchy mainly depends on them & whoever George’s heir ends up being.

Meadowfinch · 28/01/2024 09:04

She's asked for privacy and now you are grumbling that she isn't daubed all over the tabloids !!

theduchessofspork · 28/01/2024 09:06

Eh?

It was a big story.. but once the headlines are done what else is there to say? I don’t think it would have been different with Diana.

AlreadyDropped · 28/01/2024 09:07

I think the RF has got a bit better at dealing with this kind of thing. Their comms in the 90s were still very amateur.

There’s nothing to be said about the PoW that hasn’t been said. She’s recovering in hospital. I’m glad it’s not receiving more coverage as that just encourages speculation.

She’s not dead!

cheezncrackers · 28/01/2024 09:08

I'm glad she's being left alone. Whatever has put her in hospital for two weeks and with a recovery of several months at home is surely bad enough, without endless speculation and commentary and mawkish tourism to the hospital.

BoohooWoohoo · 28/01/2024 09:09

I think that the press will make a fuss when she is back for her first engagement.
I honestly don’t care what the procedure is- even if it’s not really abdominal surgery.

Samcro · 28/01/2024 09:09

there have been threads on here. full of made up rubbish.
what is there for anyone to say? she is in hospital hopefully recovering.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 28/01/2024 09:10

Tumbleweed? There have been acres of speculation about the poor woman’s condition. She finally gets the ‘privacy’ she and her husband requested, and you interpret that as no one cares?

B -, must try harder.
