Indifference to PoW?

I find it strange that there’s no real interest or concern from the public about POW being in hospital. Nobody seems to be that bothered. If you compare it to the circus if Diana had been in the same situation….. I just find it odd. I always thought she was relatively popular because we’re constantly told she is but actually…. Tumbleweed.

I know it’s her own business etc but it just feels quite odd that somebody can disappear and there is no interest in why. I don’t really know or care what’s happened or why, but the silence is really intriguing. It reminds me of when the brexit referendum happened and I had no idea that there was such strong feeling about the EU…. I had no idea that there was such apathy about the PoW until now. It’s been a real eye opener for me.

I reckon the next generation or two, the monarchy will be gone.

I'm not interested in the slightest posh rich women I don't know having surgery..couldnt care less. I wish her a speedy recovery like I would do any other person but I wouldn't give her a second thought.

Edit. I should add I only found this post in the trending list. I don't spend my time on the royal family chat threads!

Diana was more than just PoW though - I’m in my 40s and growing up in the late 80s/early 90s she was on a par with Madonna in terms of celebrity.

In the world today of someone being thought of as a celebrity because they uploaded a video of themselves lip syncing a song, it’s not at all surprising someone as ‘boring’ as KM isn’t all over the news.

Novella4 · 28/01/2024 17:40

You are right OP there is very little interest among the general public
This has nothing to do with ‘allowing privacy ‘
And as for William’s one ‘visit’ - that pap walk raised more questions . Why has he only been once ? Was that Christian Jones in the car behind? Is he still an aide ? Do aides come on hospital visits ?

What is hilarious is Camilla running rings round whatever story KP is trying to spin. So ‘royals’ don’t visit each in hospital eh? Camilla , like any concerned spouse , has been three times in 2 days .
I dislike Camilla but it’s entertaining watching her skewer KP

And as for the sickly ‘perfect father struggling gamely on’ - that was a huge mistake . It’s an insult to taxpayers .

Some posters on these threads must have sore fingers bashing out such vitriol towards an unwell woman . A mother of 3 young DC , a wife , daughter, sister, aunt , niece , cousin , friend .
And this is supposed to be a supportive parenting forum .

Oh please.

DisforDarkChocolate · 28/01/2024 18:07

I'd get rid of the whole institution myself but in this situation I see a woman having what must be major surgery and think she deserves all the privacy she wants.

So true, it’s awful how people will be nasty about a woman they don’t even know
Poor Kate being singled out!!

Suspect from the slightly overheated A mother of 3 young DC , a wife , daughter, sister, aunt , niece , cousin , friend that this poster is probably Richard Kay in disguise. If he isn't cringing at what he wrote when Chas 'n Kate went into hospital then he should be.

LIZS · 28/01/2024 18:12

Surely this is part of the agreement with media, a news blackout apart from official press releases.

I posted it here but I could have posted it in any of the threads about her . There have been some deeply unpleasant posts - one poster in particular insisting the POW has an eating disorder for example . Snide digs about laziness .
Read them and despair . It’s not just differences of opinion which is absolutely valid on a discussion board but a wave of vitriol towards an unwell woman .
And yes @goodbyestranger all these people will be worried so you can “ oh please “ off .

loobylou10 · 28/01/2024 18:15

@Alltheprettyseahorses don't be so ridiculous, I'm actually embarrassed for you. How do you know she hasn't had a stream of visitors? Never heard of back entrances, blacked out windows etc?

Mylovelygreendress · 28/01/2024 18:17

No @MrsDanversGlidesAgain just an ordinary woman who is dismayed about the tone of some of the posts .

Care to point out which ones? have you reported them?

goodbyestranger · 28/01/2024 18:20

Well I won't oh please off actually Mylovelygreendress. The level of saccharine is unreal.

Playingintheshadow · 28/01/2024 18:21

What on earth do you think should be happening?

She's in hospital, post-surgery - nothing to see here!

Mylovelygreendress · 28/01/2024 18:21

No @MrsDanversGlidesAgain i am not your PA , do your own search - it won’t take long . And yes I have reported .

Ah, the expected 'do your own research' come back. Tell me, as I don't know exactly what you find offensive, how would I know what posts you're talking about to 'do my own research?'

MrsDanvers the expected 'do your own research' comeback is as ingenious as the 'So you're a friend of hers' comeback. That's another favoured retort.

hangingonfordearlife1 · 28/01/2024 18:27

probs having a mummy makeover

Leafbuds · 28/01/2024 18:29

I wonder how the children cope at school with being asked about her - whether by parents or other pupils, trying to get information (on behalf of their parents?)

Edited

I learned that on Twitter during the pandemic. It generally means 'haven't a scooby what I'm on about and can't defend it when challenged.' Such a cliche I wonder that people aren't embarrassed to come out with it.

goodbyestranger · 28/01/2024 18:31

Exactly MrsDanvers.
