Part 3 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports. h/t @queentim for the original threads.

I really liked this outfit and the way the skirt flowed as she walked - really good choice and quite pared back compared to some other people on the red carpet.

I can't believe the posts on here. Picture of the venue like it's something awful and a grubby floor?

Were you there? Do you know it wasn't cleaned to within an inch of its life for Jamaica's son, Bob Marley?

I am saying it is not your typical Hollywood or London premiere location. Even the locals' comments on it are ....

"Government need to invest money in cross roads building and infrastructures. Last time I visit Carib movie house look terrible from the outside. Government should be a shame of themselves carrying people in that raggedy movie house."

"I trust that Carib will used some.of the plenty monies they have made from.this great event and.clean and tidy up the general areas around the theater, And paint up those rusty fancies and rusty gates.."

The global media are interested in this very odd and contrary pair, it isn't just the Evil British Media. Harry is sadly more a figure of derision now. It's very sad.

A figure of derision to you maybe
You don't speak for everyone, Jamaica loved them over there

Ok, I think whatever everyone else wore is fine.

Some people think the Commonwealth is Empire 2. I think it was said in a reality show or a book but it can't quite recall by whom..

Well done on finding that negativity about the cinema H&M attended!
I imagine they brought the grubbiness in with them
Has to be

Of course they didn't bring the grubbiness in with them. What a ridiculous thing to say. Anyone who has been to the Caribbean knows that there are loads of unsavoury parts especially in Jamaica. Again it was bringing up the event venue as opposed to what may have been expected.

Blahdeblah12345 · 26/01/2024 19:10

It's a cinema, they're known for grubby floors. It's why we don't generally wear ball gowns there. Are people really clutching their pearls about it as if it's some grave insult to Jamaica?

Not at all - read the comments. It's pretty normal BUT NOT A TYPICAL HOLLYWOOD PREMIERE VENUE.

I must have misunderstood your "Jamaica loved them over there".

Bringing it up to say what?

Maybe dressing for a Hollywood premiere wasn't quite the vibe?

Oh dear God - here again - the venue was maybe not what was expected as compared to London or Hollywood premiere locations by H and M.

I am sure anyone who has been to the Caribbean islands would know that

Still have no idea what your point is. They dressed up, others dressed up, it was a film premiere, end of

Maybe even cultural imperialism on their part? 😉

I can't make it any simpler @Roussette.

It's a bit like saying 'the bride wore a full length white dress, and so did I. Why do I get criticised?'

I have absolutely no idea what point you are trying to make.

I liked her outfit but those straps are so uncomfortable they are like cheese wires cutting into your shoulders
I think the skirt was fab although not practical for a cinema seat but sometimes you only realise that when u get there
Black helped to keep it more understated

mrsmingleton · 26/01/2024 19:20

@Roussette

Here we are in photos: Hollywood V Carib 5 in Kingston.

Hollywood typical premiere venue - very posh and you would get dressed up.

Carib 5 - not posh and you would not get dressed up as if you were in Hollywood.
