Meghan, Duchess of Sussex spotted out and about, part 3

Part 3 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports. h/t @queentim for the original threads.

I really liked this outfit and the way the skirt flowed as she walked - really good choice and quite pared back compared to some other people on the red carpet.

Let's shit on the First Amendment and free speech - but only the speech of people we disagree with. Yay!

(The Aspen Institute in a nutshell.)

Is that what they are? I didn't know that.

Maireas · 06/03/2024 05:57

Oh yes, @AliceOlive - I remember Harry saying that.

Porkfest · 06/03/2024 07:42

I am reading that this keynote session at SXSW is ‘hosted by Archewell’ which indicates that they bought and paid for this opportunity via a sponsorship package of the festival.

Mylovelygreendress · 06/03/2024 07:46

@AliceOlive I cringed when he said ( along with millions of others I assume)

I saw that and it got me wondering what exactly WME have done for Meghan over the last year ? And will be paying them so what are they doing ?

That’s appalling. She’s gone down in my estimation, there’s no need for it. At least Meghan doesn’t usually promote brands that use fur, although I’m still waiting for her to disown mackage, they use rabbit fur. I live near a huge warren and it’s lovely seeing them running around in the summer.

There's a phrase we use around these parts for these types. All fur coat and no knickers.

Harry and his first amendment comment is what is 'bonkers' , and that is the profile of the kind of person who the Aspen institute have on their commission. It beggars belief that those who detest the manipulation of the press by the Royal Family, are happy to support an institution whose sole aim is to suppress any freedom of the press for us 'little people'.

Meghan's bio on that Archewell keynote speaker event is hilariously ridiculous, it's an absolute tome, and as usual with a hefty dose of narcissistic rubbish. Harry is not referred to by name, only as 'her husband' but the two kiddos are referred to by their Prince and Princess titles.

All these types of things are pay to play events. So much of the charity and humanitarian profiles these people have is bought and paid for and encouraged by their image management, as well as useful for tax right offs.

Interesting……did you see what happened just there?

Sorry, I know this is going back a bit, but I tend to catch up on MN in chunks (a bit like sitting down with a magazine for a while). I do usually use Google for lots of questions and try to understand comments by reading the thread, but I didn't see anything "happening" there.
What have I missed?
Would prefer an answer that wasn't along the lines of "Well, if you can't see it, there's no point me telling you", because that happens a lot.
But, of course, it's not up to me to tell people what to post (otherwise there'd be a lot of "Isn't LaMar wonderful ?" posts).
TIA

Harry has medieval king vibes and his serf silencing tendencies remind me of another distinguished ruler…

Samcro · 06/03/2024 10:09

rabbits are pests and food.

TallerSally · 06/03/2024 10:13

Looks like sour grapes are still on the menu (for some)!

(who cares? 😂)

Just proves the point about the need to tackle toxic discourse on social media. I certainly hope Friday's panel discussion at SXSW remains focused on the negative impacts online bullying and toxicity have on mental health, particularly of vulnerable young girls, which is the focus of the discussion.

I would be interested in hearing from Meghan how she shields herself from the toxicity, and what she plans to do to protect Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, who will soon find themselves in the haters' crosshairs.

... we shall see! two days to go, I bet many folks are positively hopping with expectation, good or bad! 😆😆😆

What is it with Meghan and creased clothing ? Is this a trend that has bypassed me ?

I really don't know

I think she often looks as if she's not quite got it right with clothes (eg creased, fit slightly off, occasional mismatch) and I don't know why that it.

I think she looked at her best in a (mainstream) casual look before she was married

Thank god we do have a free press who can expose and call to account the elite for corruption and that includes the Royal Family. The Aspen institute want to smother that free press globally, they even held a workshop on how they would suppress the Hunter Biden corruption scandal so it didn't hamper Biden's presidential run, and it did partially work (the suppression of reports).

The British RF antics at PR is a drop in the ocean compared to what the Aspen Institute really want to achieve, it is a much bigger picture being headed by some very ultra right elites.

Viewing it only in terms of the RF is a bit of a myopic perspective, even if Harry is one of their board members.

I thought that too regarding Harry and his appeal against the Home Secretary

I learnt about it from the RF boards, it is concerning. I’m surprised they would want to be associated with an institution like that

Has any investigative journalist taken on exposing the inner workings of Aspen?
