Meghan, Duchess of Sussex spotted out and about, part 3

Part 3 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports. h/t @queentim for the original threads.

I really liked this outfit and the way the skirt flowed as she walked - really good choice and quite pared back compared to some other people on the red carpet.

I thought that she looked beautiful.

She is over dressed. The others sat around them are dressed in casual clothes, so it looks strange. Harry looks more casual/scruffy.

Scruffy? Honestly?!

A suit with an open neck shirt is scruffy?

skullbabe · 26/01/2024 18:09

why seated so far back?

The best seats in a cinema are not the front row seats - they are a few rows back from the front in the middle seats to be centre with the middle of the screen. No one want to be sat so far up front or on the end so you are craning your neck to see the screen. If the cinema has a balcony - the front row of the raised front on seats would be best. As far as I can see it from video filmed by Olivia Grange - the culture secretary, who was sat near them - they had a very good view of the screen.

That clip of them walking into the local cinema, everyone in casual clothes and those 2 looking like they thought they were going to be in the Royal box at the Royal variety show (or whatever it's called).

Such delusions of grandeur! they really are the gift that keeps on giving regarding lols.

Roussette · 26/01/2024 18:13

Who wants to sit in the front in the cinema?!
Not me! Awful

wildernesssw · 26/01/2024 18:13

I am sure they had a good view. The point about premieres isn't the view or comfort! It is about visibility for the attendee, comfort would be seeing it anonymously (have I spelt that right?!)

skullbabe · 26/01/2024 18:14

A suit with an open neck shirt is scruffy?

It iswhen Harry does it - not of course when Ziggy Marley, Kingsley Ben-Adir or Brian Robbins do it. 😂

Wait has anyone got an i.d. on Meghan's bodysuit?

Seems everyone's got one but me though I've been resisting!

@skullbabe ?

I’m in small town US. People literally wear pajamas in the streets.

😂

wildernesssw · 26/01/2024 18:17

My idea of heaven!

wildernesssw · 26/01/2024 18:19

But, back to the subject. You can see a film without going to the premiere.

So, if you go to a premiere it is because you want to be seen. Maybe to support a friend's film, maybe because you have been paid to bring publicity, or maybe because you need publicity yourself.

Premieres are about the movie and the stars, not the guests or other attendees.

Shocking as it may seem, though people were excited that they were there, the event wasn't actually about them, so there's absolutely no need for them to be near the front rows.

Personally the best seats are the middle centre for views and acoustics in a normal theatre the front rows are chosen last for a reason

We're not speaking about a top venue here - we are talking about the Carib 5.

Anyway, Bob Marley is a musical legend and icon.

I'm glad the premiere of the movie about his life has now gotten this much attention! Hopefully it's very well attended when it's released

skullbabe · 26/01/2024 18:24

Sigh...

Everyone notable person who were as well dressed as H&M who walked the red carpet parked in the back and had to walk where H&M walked to get to the red carpet. They certainly couldn't have teleported there. There are no boxes in cinemas (because the views would be terrible).

They all look quite a bit more polished than Harry. More thought obviously went into their attire. I mean, who cares but he does look comparatively more casual.

But it’s funny to say she’s overdressed and he looks like he could use a but of polish.

Blahdeblah12345 · 26/01/2024 18:27

Look at the video of them being shown to their seats (seats which Harry clearly wasn't happy with). They are literally seated in front of a guy in a baseball cap and a woman who appears to be wearing a shell suit is a few seats down. Meghan was overdressed. She looked good though but had to have been uncomfortable in her seat with the full skirt and also with it brushing along the slightly grubby floor

Roussette · 26/01/2024 18:30

I can't believe the posts on here. Picture of the venue like it's something awful and a grubby floor?

Were you there? Do you know it wasn't cleaned to within an inch of its life for Jamaica's son, Bob Marley?

I think the Carib 5 is a beautiful Art Deco building that if Wikipedia is to believed is the largest and highest-grossing theatre in the West Indies, and was once Jamaica's largest building. I'm not entirely sure what the purpose is of demeaning it is.

I have no idea either. Really quite distasteful to be honest

wildernesssw · 26/01/2024 18:32

I think it comes down to WHY they flew thousands of miles to watch a film. Were they promoting the film, or there to promote themselves?

Either way, it seems a bit of a mix up with clothes, seating, and environmental impact

Mummyofbananas · 26/01/2024 18:33

I don't think it is overdressed- it gives the impression of a cami top and nice skirt- it looks like high end holiday night time clothes to me- I really love it, it might be one of my favourit outfits of hers. I also think she looks great in trouser suits.

Is she of Jamaican descent? I thought she identified with Nigeria?
