Part 3 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports. h/t @queentim for the original threads.

I really liked this outfit and the way the skirt flowed as she walked - really good choice and quite pared back compared to some other people on the red carpet.

I know! The usual nonsense. I think it was very fitted and had a slit, but hardly made her look like Jezebel.

Right?!

Her style was fabulous then, I always admired what she wore, I think that's when Jessica Mulroney was helping to style her, she rarely had a bad outfit then, plus they were tailored properly (and ironed).

Yes, I thought she had some great outfits. Some were top designers, eg Dior and Givenchy, but some lesser known ones. I really liked the leather skirt and silk blouse - she had that outfit in two strong colour ways, a deep berry red, and a lovely green.

Roussette · 04/03/2024 17:45

This was probably my favourite outfit. Sydney 2018

Very pretty dress. Never had a rewear?
I liked most of her clothes on that tour, especially the bright red one. The tag got left on, but never mind!

Minnimoomin · 04/03/2024 17:57

Can I join in? Agree M can really carry off strong colours. Love the yellow dress, which I haven't seen before, but my fave look was the dark green leather skirt and shirt combo.

I loved that, and the berry red version.

puddlehopper · 04/03/2024 18:05

Yes, that leather skirt combo was gorgeous, if I remember correctly, I think either the shirt of one or the jumper of the other was M&S.

Maireas · 04/03/2024 18:11

Was it Other Stories? It could have been M&S.

Maireas · 04/03/2024 18:17

Red skirt and jumper was also at a Commonwealth event.

GrouchyKiwi · 04/03/2024 18:18

That berry colour is so good on her. I also love the forest green version, it was a very chic outfit.

Minnimoomin · 04/03/2024 18:18

Not so keen on the red - the colour looks great on her but the proportions are not so good. Not that I could carry off a jumper tucked into a skirt!

ArcaneWireless · 04/03/2024 18:25

I love the berry colour of the jumper.

I’m just not sure about the skirt.

Really not sure about the frock with the pigeons on it.

Gottseidank · 04/03/2024 19:53

I liked that look too - both the Burgundy (ah..,Beaune♥️)and the Forrest green version

I can’t talk as I’m always in pretty safe colours. (Black, navy, deep olive)

But she suits colour. I’d have to disagree on yellow though. I’d a budgie that colour.

It doesn’t belong on anything else with two legs.

I love yellow but my Mum said that I looked like a monkey in it when a baby! Last summer I bought a yellow dress for the first time in my life.

Maireas · 04/03/2024 20:14

No! Yellow is actually lovely on most people. I like cheerful colours. I would ban grey.

ArcaneWireless · 04/03/2024 20:15

I had a very vibrant yellow satin shirt in the 80s.

It was a mistake.

And I probably looked like a walking advert for Quavers.

@Maireas 75,000 for a skirt. That is ludicrous!!! Obscene in fact.

Hugo Boss is not a good name to be sporting though - he was a Nazi member and used forced labour to manufacture SS outfits. One of the worst shivers I ever had in my life was coming face to face with an SS uniform in Schindler's factory. Freaked me out.

Maireas · 04/03/2024 20:22

@User442681bgt ....what?!
Both the price and the Nazi connection!

User442681bgt · 04/03/2024 20:22

I know

User442681bgt · 04/03/2024 20:29

I like the bright colours too. The red and purple. Even green which I don't normally like as reminds me of school uniform. The worst thing ever worn was this I think. Was this maybe after a pregnancy? It was just too short. Men are so lucky in this respect!

I know what you mean. We were driving into Nuremberg on our way back from the Alps one year, and I noticed the ghostly outline of a Nazi insignia complete with eagle and swastika on the front of a Burger King outlet. I looked it up and it turned out the building was originally an electrical sub station for the Nuremberg rally grounds, located just behind it. The insignia had been removed but had left it’s horrible trace on the stone. Really made my blood run cold.

That’s nonsense, Hugo Boss leather skirts retail for about £500. I have one myself!

I suspect someone is trying to flog the red one for a ludicrous price on a reselling site as it’s no longer available to buy directly.
