Part 3 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports. h/t @queentim for the original threads.

I really liked this outfit and the way the skirt flowed as she walked - really good choice and quite pared back compared to some other people on the red carpet.

Yes, the photo credit will be from Hugo Boss. The prices of the skirts are on the Boss site, and I bought mine instore so nice try.

“The discussion, which also takes place on International Women’s Day, will focus on how the ubiquitous nature of social media is “creating an often dangerous environment which has led to serious mental health issues for teenage girls in particular,” according to the festival description.
”Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, Katie Couric, Brooke Shields, Nancy Wang Yuen and Errin Haines are the perfect finishing touch to eight days of remarkable Keynote Speakers,” Hugh Forrest, co-president and chief programming officer of SXSW, said in a statement. “We are so honored to host this distinguished group on International Women’s Day for a significant discussion on the importance of representation in media and entertainment.”

I went to the Prima website and the text above the picture with the Hugo Boss hyperlink with the crazy money says the skirt cost £369. Must be an issue with the hyperlink as it goes no where when you click it.

Oh my god, I could not agree more about the "dangerous environment" of social media. I frequently see its terrible impact on teenage girls. Also, see threads on here about Kate and repeating claims about her from SM. Some ludicrous and risible, some offensive. Any stand against this has to be applauded.
Sorry, I know this is about style, but there has been some awful things on this site in the last few days. It is toxic. As you were.

The skirt is no longer available in red so that’ll be why the link just goes to the main Boss site. But they have other leather skirts around the £400/500 mark so there’s no way it cost £74k for the red one. Hugo Boss is not cheap but it’s not in the realms of Chanel or Dior either!

Queen Letizia of Spain has them in several colourways. She does wear a lot of Hugo Boss.

I agree it's a very pretty style, but a little girlish imo. The sort of thing a teen might wear at a prom or as a bridesmaid or ingenue debutant. Not a style I'd necessarily expect on a mature and sophisticated woman.

The pattern looks like a murder of crows and a flock of seagulls having a fight. Not the 80s band, unfortunately - now that would have been an interesting look!

I totally agree. Hopefully the conference speakers will condemn this online bullying campaign. Catherine is the most high profile target on SM at the moment, and her crime is to want some privacy after abdominal surgery. Her marriage and children have been dragged into the midden. If this is not a feminist issue, I don't know what is. Let's hope we get a thorough condemnation of what is happening right now from these eminent, feminist commentators.

As the event is being presented by Archewell I cannot see conference speakers going anywhere near the subject

If the Sussexes are hoping to build some bridges then I think mentioning the horrible social media campaign against Kate might help. They should also call out their “official” supporters: no need to mention the SS by name, but just ask their fans to “be kind”.

I would hope they remember that feminism is supposed to be for all women, not just the ones you like or the ones who pay you.

Never heard of that event in the USA but then don't live there so to be expected I guess. I wonder how Meghan will thrive in an environment when she isn't "top dog" as it were and has to share a platform. She doesn't even like it with her Mum never mind other accomplished women with long careers behind them.

Interestingly, Meghan may be billed as “The Duchess” but Brooke Shields has a far more impressive pedigree, being descended from Catherine de Medici and several French kings. She’s also a distant cousin of King Charles.

I’m not so much in favour to mention the SM rammy around Kate in any SM bullying speech.

Given that the nastiness escalated after the OW interview and various snippets from them and that mouthpiece, nothing was done to refute or retract any comments. It would seem somewhat hypocritical to care now.

It isn’t only SM that needs reining in but the actions that feed it. 🌱
