Irrational is correct @MrsFinkelstein

That and preposterous. And unbelievable. And poppycock.

It certainly didn’t scream innocent and naive. 🌱

It is funny seeing a similar situation play out on this thread.

And the success of dignified silence.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 11/12/2023 10:15

@MrsFinkelstein But at the same time, she's the boss lady who is going to change the institution and drag it, kicking and screaming into the 21st century. It feels like everything he writes relating to MM is like Erin Brockovich meets Disney Nickelodeon.

My opinion is that she couldn't be bothered to be honest, she thought it didn't apply to her , I came to this conclusion from the awful cringy and disrespectful " curtsey " and likening it to " medieval times " a rather cheesy American restaurant!

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 11/12/2023 10:18

And that all feeds back to the fact that marrying into the Royal Family is not fairytale princesses and castles.

mrsmingleton · 11/12/2023 10:20

She has read the book "The first 90 days" possibly and thought she had it covered for her and Harry's shake up of the RF.

jeffgoldblum · 11/12/2023 10:21

I imagine she's a huge fan of the princess diaries!

ArcaneWireless · 11/12/2023 10:21

I do think when folk protest that they have been hard done by, either by being less than truthful and exaggerating perceived slights and doing their best to besmirch others whilst pretending to be a wide eyed ingenue, it will never end well.

Sometimes you can cloak yourself and others will still see who you are.

Especially if they are daft enough to put it in print and forget what they’ve written. 🌱

Lifestooshort71 · 11/12/2023 10:22

I don't believe Meghan would have welcomed advice or mentoring from anybody. She was going to make the role her own and carve out a Meghan-shaped hole in the RF to accommodate her, hence the 'hit the ground running' statement.

MrsLeonFarrell · 11/12/2023 10:24

Someone upthread mentioned Tom Bower's book, does anyone remember how many copies it sold? Just wondering how it compares to Endgame.

Well of course not, they are flesh and blood, human beings, and like every other human being on the planet , they have strengths, weaknesses, make mistakes, get it right,

no family in the history of the worl is perfect. Depending on the lens, they are all dysfunctional in some way or another.

Christ, I’ve a great relationship with my daughter, she’d tell you I am a great mum, but if she chose to she could twist it so her upbringing looked bad. Everyone could. Every single one of us can focus on the negative, big it up, leave out the positive, leave out what we did wrong, and focus on slights by others.

I don't know, but it's worth reading. He says that he stands by the content and is prepared to be challenged on it.

jeffgoldblum · 11/12/2023 10:25

And that @ArcaneWireless is the rub isn't it, to be truly accomplished and successful liar, you need to be in possession of an impeccable memory and only stick to the same narrative, if you casually throw about any old crap on film and in print without taking the trouble to keep track of your bullshit , others will have all the evidence to point it out!

jeffgoldblum · 11/12/2023 10:28

We see it here all the time , people cherry picking the little nuggets that support their own opinions and disregarding all the other things that support others opinions!

That was so rude. If she didn't agree with curtseys, she should have stopped people curtseying to her. Medieval times indeed.

ArcaneWireless · 11/12/2023 10:30

Quite @jeffgoldblum

Some would do well to learn from it.

The world does not revolve round individuals. No matter how much they tell us it does. 🌱

mrsmingleton · 11/12/2023 10:31

I have always thought that the background Meghan was used to - the entertainment business - develops a gossip mentality and that for the most part Hollywood doesn't react to much of this as generally it is a load of piffle. I fear that Meghan brought this attitude with her but didn't realise that yes in the UK people will react differently to this kind of stuff. People will check. People will question. People will notice discrepancies. A big fish in a little pond always thinks it is more important than it really is.

What's that quote from Downton Abbey? oh yes. 'You regret telling the truth much less than you regret telling lies.' Or words thereof.

mrsmingleton · 11/12/2023 10:32

@Maireas the whole curtsey thing made her look so uninformed and ignorant.

jeffgoldblum · 11/12/2023 10:35

I think Diana did Harry no favours with attempting to bring him and William up the same and trying to offset the difference, it's sad but royal hierarchy means that William was always going to be the future king !
All that seems to have happened is Harry is now terribly jealous and furious that he doesn't receive the same privileges and status, this in my opinion is why we are being subjected to all this drama!
He's throwing the mother of all tantrums!

ArcaneWireless · 11/12/2023 10:35

A good point mrsmingleton 🌱

ArcaneWireless · 11/12/2023 10:36

Downton Abbey was right. 🌱

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 11/12/2023 10:37

But Harry doesn't want to be king, he just doesn't want William to be it.

jeffgoldblum · 11/12/2023 10:37

I mean on a toddler is almost cute , stamping your feet and wailing it's not fair!
On a middle aged man , not quite the same!

ArcaneWireless · 11/12/2023 10:38

Another good point @jeffgoldblum 🌱
