Surely H&M will have to dis-own these friends who have spoken out?

The info in the OS book is only what your closest friends or family would know.

If they have spilled the info surely they would have asked H&M first?

Some of it is so extremely personal.

When I had children, I wondered what beautiful shade of brown they'd be. Context is everything though. Did they ask because they were worried or just curious?

There’s a couple I’m friends with - one white, one black. When all this was first in the news, they both said how ridiculous it was, if the only problem was speculating about the potential skin colour of a baby. They said that within both of their families when she was pregnant (x4), there was always discussion about what skin colour (light/dark) the baby might be. Not with any preference expressed, but just as you might discuss the possibility of brown, red or blond hair/blue or brown eyes/freckles etc. She talks freely about how all of her kids are different shades of brown. Is discussion of how genetics might play out considered racist? It’s normal to be interested in what characteristics your children or grandchildren might have, isn’t it?
I think there’s probably still a huge cultural divide between the US and Britain (the aristocracy especially) which could lead to misunderstanding and a perception of rudeness/hostility on both sides concerning the impact of comments which may be made with no ill intent at all.

We don't know what happened do we? I personally found it upsetting when my MIL speculated about how brown my kids would be. She is chuffed because they are fair like their dad...

I know the Meghan hate brigade are very wedded to this conspiracy theory that he and Meghan are best friends just because they're both biracial and he's the only one not sticking to the anti-Meghan party line, but he's always said he doesn't know her and barely met her.

Not true actually. Omid has in the past said that Meghan rang him personally to sympathise when he got online abuse, and that he was one of the literal handful of reporters invited to her “farewell to the royal family” event, where they hugged each other and exchanged regrets about how things had panned out.

That was all before we discovered that he was a close and integral member of her team during her court case against ANL - being passed court documents to tweet out as soon as they were filed by her lawyers.

And never forget that in the course of that court case, Scobie submitted a witness statement to support Meghan in which he stated that any suggestion that the Duke and Duchess had collaborated on Finding Freedom was false. Meghan of course had to apologise for forgetting she had in fact collaborated with the book. Omid would have known his statement was a flat out lie, though. Would you agree to lie in court for someone you’ve barely met?

That was Jason Knauf, the person William planted in Meghan's home to spy on her, who invented all kinds of nasty lies and leaked horrible things about her to the press the entire time he was supposedly working for her. He sent private info about the royals to the press, broke his NDA, leaked like crazy. He was the one who filed a complaint about Meghan for bullying without the permission of those she allegedly bullied (those she allegedly bullied asked him to rescind the complaints, and they were clearly baseless and made up) then emailed the press to tip them off about the complaint he'd just invented. He was also Thomas Markle's press handler and look how badly he fucked that up. He hired his best friend for a prestigious job when she'd only worked as a nanny before, and then when she was fired for gross misconduct she immediately landed a job as live-in nanny to a millionaire Tory whose sister is a Daily Mail journalist.

Then William showered him with rewards and accolades, even making him CEO of the Cambridge Foundation despite him having no experience.

It's obvious that everything Knauf did to undermine and leak nasty shit to try to destroy Meghan was on William's orders. Vile men, both of them.

Secondly, an attempt to smear the one person in this saga who has demonstrated real personal integrity - reporting his concerns that staff were being bullied, giving the court information that was being concealed from it and that showed that other parties in the case were lying (like when Meghan stated that she had not instructed her staff to fact check Funding Freedom, which she later had to admit was untrue) says so much more about them than about Jason Knauf.

Do we know how much he can be expected to make from this sort of trash? I find characters like OS and the other guy (the one from New Zealand that is in trouble now) fascinating in a horrific kind of way. How does one end up becoming this sort of person? I can't see how anyone would find this "job" personally fulfilling.

March 2021 Oprah interview - Harry was part conversations where a royal was concerned about how dark his skin might be when he was born. Harry told Meghan about this.

December 2022 - Kerry Kennedy picked Harry and Meghan for an award because of their heroic stance against structural racism in the Royal Family.

January 2023 - Harry tells Brady that they didn’t call the family racist, the British media did. Having lived with the family he knows they’re not racist but talking about skin colour is unconscious bias.

November 2023 - Scobie book says there are TWO racists (And he’s privy to ‘private’ letter between Meg & KC where this is mentioned?)

There's a Middle East Conflict topic, and a Cost Of Living topic, and a News topic, and a Politics topic, plus a couple of long running threads in chat about Ukraine and about the government's record. So if you want to post on the other subjects you mention, there's plenty of opportunity to do so. Or start a new thread if the angle that interests you most isn't already covered.

And of course it's possible to be interested in many things, attaching different levels of interest/importance. One does not preclude others

And yes, we know they briefed OS - that was determined by a judge - and of course what he was told then won't have expired.
