Omid Scobie's new book

Heads up, Omid is back on the PR trail...

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/royals/harry-meghan-author-omid-scobie-31362434

BTW, can anyone explain why he's Harper's Royal reporter when he only seems to have access to or report on Harry and Meghan? It's a bit strange.

Harry and Meghan's biographer calls King Charles 'unpopular' in scathing jibe

Omid Scobie's new 'explosive' book Endgame will be published on November 28 - and its description on Amazon says the author investigates the current state of the British monarchy

It's probably all 'material' from harry's book number 2, which they have called off. H&M are such muppets and OS is their mouthpiece.

Newnow · 06/11/2023 07:25

The RF probably told Harry that if he publishes another damaging book, there will be some serious legal or inheritance related repercussions. So they passed on the 'research' of the book for OS to compile with some idiot ghost writer. Embarrassing for H, M &O.

Roussette · 06/11/2023 07:35

Oh well, never mind... Kate now has a mouthpiece as her dodgy Uncle is writing a book so his 'tell all' about H&M and family secrets may well be the antidote to Omid Scobie's book. There's nothing like a drug dealing wife beating millionaire Uncle to stand up for you against the awful Harry & Meghan!

(He was arrested and fined £5K for punching his wife unconscious and then the cocaine dealing...)

I don't care about either book, and won't read them, but the slurs and personal insults about Omid Scobie's appearance on this thread are really a bit OTT. All I can say about him is... when he appeared on the Princes and the Press BBC documentary, he came across really well in interview, far better than anyone else on the programme. I was surprised.

Serenster · 06/11/2023 07:40

I thought Uncle Gary’s book in in the same vein as Meghan’s, Roussette - speculated, but not confirmed?

Roussette · 06/11/2023 07:53

I have no idea. It says a 'royal source' in some articles. And obviously people choose to believe royal sources if it's what they want to hear! And vice versa

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 06/11/2023 07:57

An unpopular king, a power-hungry heir to the throne, a queen willing to go to dangerous lengths to preserve her image, and a prince forced to start a new life after being betrayed by his own family

Eat your heart out, Will Shakespeare 😅

Serenster · 06/11/2023 08:12

Oh well. He’s got some way to go to catch up to Omid in any event, since he’s currently lagging to the tune of 2 books and six years worth of tweets and articles. Almost like he’s not Kate’s mouthpiece at all…

Gloriously · 06/11/2023 08:24

Can we keep to the thread title and not derail with tenuous whataboutery ..... this is a nice humorous thread about OS new book. Feel free to start your own new thread about uncle smunkle

Yep. Those 400 pages that had to be cut from Spare, because his family would never forgive him. Probably because it couldn't be verified as truthful, but Scobie doesn't care about that too much. Wasn't he behind the "near catastrophic car chase" statement?

yep so funny. slagging of their appearance.

LadyMuckingabout · 06/11/2023 10:18

I think adversely commenting on someone’s appearance that they were born with is highly unpleasant, but Omid Scobie’s is entirely self-inflicted! Have the scandalised on here never remarked on Michael Jackson’s face? Or at least inwardly thought the man had gone too far? I don’t believe that people have never judged a ridiculous-looking trout pout or frozen surprised expression on a celebrity’s face.

I agree, there's so much bad plastic surgery around these days. It seems especially prevalent among Russians. Why shouldn't people comment on it? Perhaps the fact that most are too polite to tell people how unnatural it looks is contributing to the problem?

Omid must have some sort of body dysmorphia because his face looks very strange and is becoming increasingly stranger.

Medlady · 06/11/2023 12:25

Well, I'm looking forward to the live readalong

pilates · 06/11/2023 13:00

Is that the free one on Amazon medlady?

MrsLeonFarrell · 06/11/2023 13:11

pilates · 05/11/2023 21:53

This is quoted in description on Amazon:-

An unpopular king, a power-hungry heir to the throne, a queen willing to go to dangerous lengths to preserve her image, and a prince forced to start a new life after being betrayed by his own family.

Will OS not have to quote his sources for it to be credible?

Am I the only one who read the quote and heard the EastEnders dramatic dumdumdum etc in my head?

Gloriously · 06/11/2023 13:17

I see it as some sort of pantomime version of Blackadder.

pilates · 06/11/2023 13:19

Yes indeed 😀

Medlady · 06/11/2023 13:25

I was kind of expecting one on here, Pilates. The ‘Spare’ snurkalong rescued my January.

(in an effort to be fair to Harold I have now borrowed it from the library so I can give him a neutral reading)

Has it really been called off??

Newkidintow · 06/11/2023 23:04

Framilode · 05/11/2023 18:24

He's Harry and Meghan's Paul Burrell.

That’s exactly it actually.

I doubt very much that Kate has ever confided in her Uncle. There’s no evidence they even have any sort of relationship. She’s far too sensible and wary to blab and whine to anyone she doesn’t implicitly trust. He’s trying to make a quick buck and is certainly not her ‘mouthpiece’.

AliceOlive · 06/11/2023 23:38

@Newkidintow Seriously. That goes without even saying.

TabithatheTabbycat · 07/11/2023 06:21

Yes, very strange indeed to describe him as Kate's mouthpiece.

It’s just a tit-for-tat in an imagined competition. People call Scobie H&M’s mouthpiece so it makes some people feel like they’ve scored a point to say something similar about the wicked SIL.

But there's really no legitimate comparison?
