Heads up, Omid is back on the PR trail...

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/royals/harry-meghan-author-omid-scobie-31362434

BTW, can anyone explain why he's Harper's Royal reporter when he only seems to have access to or report on Harry and Meghan? It's a bit strange.

Harry and Meghan's biographer calls King Charles 'unpopular' in scathing jibe

Omid Scobie's new 'explosive' book Endgame will be published on November 28 - and its description on Amazon says the author investigates the current state of the British monarchy

Well for Omid’s sake I hope there’s a bigger story because most of what I’ve read in the two excerpts in people US was in Harry’s book. There is a bit more detail but the important stuff re the hours surrounding the Queen’s death - Harry travelling alone, his learning of his grandmother’s death when he landed, being there to meet him after the others had left, his time spent with his grandmother, his flight home the next day - was all in Harry’s book.

Hopefully this book is about the main players of the RF not seen through Harry’s lens. I really liked Harry’s book. There were bits where I rolled my eyes - but I found it to be a good read overall. But I don’t want a rehash of it with just a bit of extra small detail thrown in here and there.

I am a little perplexed. If I was H & M I would want to distance myself from OS. He really is a bit of a joke not someone I would want fighting my corner.

pilates · 16/11/2023 12:44

And very crass to be talking about the late Queen’s dying moments.

People magazine seems to be H&M's outlet of choice, doesn't it?
Harry was unaware of his grandmother's health situation? Well, if he'd visited her or communicated more he may have had an inkling. Also, she was 96. I'm going to say it was on the cards.
It sounds like Spare part 2.

Staying classy! Some commentator said they know the editor via Meghan's bestie, Abigail Spencer.

I don't understand the bit in Scabber's book about Harry not knowing about her health. It's just ridiculous. There's another bit in the extract that Eugenie was trying to get hold of Harry to find out what was going on. But her father (Prince Andrew, the Queen's favourite son) was on the flight with William, so why would she need to ask Harry? It all smacks again of Harry's own self importance (or someone trying to big him up).

themessygarden · 16/11/2023 13:06

Meghan is the real hero, she was the one who told him to answer the phone, 😂

ALittleTeawithmilk · 16/11/2023 13:11

I’ve seen a suggestion that Omid Scobie went with People US over any British tabloids because it’s a smart money move to grab US readers interest. Could be true that he’s trying for a bigger readership but also likely it went to who would pay the most. Who is publishing the book, do we know?

Serenster · 16/11/2023 13:12

Given Harry allegedly had to be physically visited by the Montecito police to let him know that Phillip had died, as he wasn’t answering his phone, you’d think he might have learned to answer calls by now!

Serenster · 16/11/2023 13:21

Who is publishing the book, do we know?

Harper Collins, a global competitor of Penguin Random House (who Harry and Meghan’s deal is with). The same publisher as Finding Freedom (though that came out under a Harper Collins sub-brand).

ALittleTeawithmilk · 16/11/2023 14:12

I have seen Omid Scobie referred to as ‘oily’ ‘greasy’ and now ‘scabber’ on here.

WTF?

MostFabledWaterway · 16/11/2023 14:24

My theory (no evidence or grounds just speculation) is that it was intended that Harry travel on the same plane as William, Edward and Andrew to Balmoral. I find it plausible that William ignored his texts about travel - but I think it was arranged by 'the firm' that Harry travel on this flight.

Harry wanted Meghan on the flight as well - he was told Meghan cannot come. He threw his toys out of the pram and an argument/negotiation ensured around this. This delayed the flight (which was filmed sat on tarmac waiting for over an hour waiting for departure). In the end they get fed up of waiting for Harry and leave.

Harry is apoplectic at this and organises his own later flight.

William et al arrive too late - the Queen has died whilst they were enroute. They are livid because if Harry hadn't delayed them they may have made it in time.

This is the reason that Harry gets the cold shoulder in Balmoral, everyone is furious with him. Charles, William and Camilla leave to avoid a confrontation when he arrives and stay out of sight until he leaves the next day.

They announce the Queen's death whilst Harry is enroute as by this point, everyone is so furious with him they no longer care what he thinks

That is interesting, I didn't know that, I guess because I didn't watch the Netflix doc. Here is Abigail discussing using her friend, who happened to be the editor of People, to help MM.

I actually think that is quite a reasonable theory .
No reason was ever given why the plane was delayed so it is highly likely it was due to Harry being difficult .
I don’t suppose we will ever know!

I think that makes a lot of sense. A death in the family should bring people together but sometimes some family members want to make it all about them.

no but people will just make stuff up as usual.

Scabbers in a Harry Potter character. He pretends to be friends with the heroes, particularly the red headed one, when he is in fact quite the opposite.

pilates · 16/11/2023 15:21

A man pretending to be one, so yes and no.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 16/11/2023 15:53

I still don't understand why Meghan or Harry thought Meghan should be at Balmoral, to the extent that Catherine not going was the only thing that assuaged them. Catherine knew the Queen for nearly 20 years, is the wife of the future King, is herself the future Queen and is the mother of the future King. They had a relationship, and she had a defined supporting role going forward, as a working Royal. Meghan was a working Royal for all of 5 minutes and did the family a lot of damage with Oprah, with further damage in the pipelines. Whichever side you are on and whoever you believe, surely they can see that it was inappropriate to ask for her to be there, and that she barely had a relationship with the Queen to warrant it. It's just so unedifying, demanding to see a dying woman with whom you have no relationship of substance.

Mylovelygreendress · 16/11/2023 15:56

@Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar

Not sure why Meghan wanted to Balmoral given that she had previously refused every invitation there.,

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 16/11/2023 16:04

@Mylovelygreendress

No, me either.

I'd love to go to Balmoral. All that tweed and tartan, lovely countryside to go walking in and fireside suppers. I'd take the small room and accept a single sausage without argument! (I'd pass on shooting anything, though!)

Samcro · 16/11/2023 16:14

Mylovelygreendress · 16/11/2023 16:16

@Samcro it’s annoying isn’t it ? Just like posters who bang on about SF/ Charles/ Diana interviews from 30+ years ago . Or the ( alleged) million articles about MM in one day .
Same old , same old.

Indeed. Why has it come up yet again? Oh yes, Meghan and Harry’s unofficial spokesman is publishing yet another version of Meghan and Harry’s account of it….
