Omid Scobie's new book

Heads up, Omid is back on the PR trail...

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/royals/harry-meghan-author-omid-scobie-31362434

BTW, can anyone explain why he's Harper's Royal reporter when he only seems to have access to or report on Harry and Meghan? It's a bit strange.

Harry and Meghan's biographer calls King Charles 'unpopular' in scathing jibe

Omid Scobie's new 'explosive' book Endgame will be published on November 28 - and its description on Amazon says the author investigates the current state of the British monarchy

I did feel sympathy for Meghan that day, she looked tiny beside the other 3 and looked so nervous and awkward, constantly looking to the others to know what to do next, pulling her hair from one side to the other constantly. Harry having to convince her to give up the bouquet of flowers that she must have promised one of the visitors she would put down for them. She looked really out of her depth.

By contrast, Kate's body language certainly said a lot, she looked fierce getting out of the car, but she looked very self assured and poised on the walkabout. I think Kate and William were really magnanimous to invite them along after how nasty they were about the RF. They certainly deserve credit for doing that.

Apparently the book contains details of letters exchanged by MM and the King. If she really didn’t cooperate with the book, presumably she’ll be suing Scobie for privacy invasion like she did the DM over her dad’s letter? 👀

If there are leaked letters in the book then it's completely bonkers to publish any content (and I'd be 99% certain he wouldn't publish without their permission). This was the Sussex statement put out on Omid's Twitter account at the time the letter was leaked just before the Coronation:

The somewhat inscrutable new statement by Meghan, released via the Twitter account of her biographer Omid Scobie, read: “The Duchess of Sussex is going about her life in the present, not thinking about correspondence from two years ago related to conversations from four years ago. Any suggestion otherwise is false and frankly ridiculous. We encourage tabloid media and various other royal correspondents to stop the exhausting circus that they alone are creating.”

Obviously, the couple and their very own royal mouthpiece correspondent with his latest bitchfest book are the exception 🤦‍♀️

I like what someone above said - Kate looked like a boss! She was there to do a job in a difficult situation. It perfectly shows that Kate is possible of doing more than just showing up and smiling. She has the strength to do what is needed. On the other hand...

Kate and William really look like the power couple during that walkabout, which is exactly what they are, the couple who hold the power, the tiresome twosome not so much.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 27/11/2023 11:12

I was irritated by Meghan during that walk about, with her 'I'm a poor little rabbit, feel sorry for me' demeanour. Manipulative.

I honestly hope that's not true; if it is, it would raise some very difficult questions unless I suppose they claimed the letters were stolen

After what went before I was also hoping that, just for once, they'd found some sense and avoided cooperating with Scobie, but again if true that one's shot full of holes too

I have to say I agree. She looked so nervous it just didn’t ring true somehow. It was almost as if she is an actor….

It’s all very pathetic.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/11/2023 12:04

About the letters - obviously we've not seen the book yet and are only seeing translations from the trash media, but it's said to contain details about the letters rather than publishing the actual things

Or to put it another way, Scobie could have just made it up

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 27/11/2023 12:04

I think Catherine and William went into it like bosses because they had a public role to fulfil - channelling the grief and good wishes of the crowd that turned up, turning attention onto the crowd (also in mourning) not themselves, and saying thank you to them for coming and we commiserate with you. "One tear, left eye, go!" will have wanted the attention on her own feelings, and probably thought the point of the walkabout was so that the crowd could comfort her. I'm sure that if Catherine did give her a death stare, it was probably an unspoken reminder of what their purpose was that day.

AliceOlive · 27/11/2023 12:41

Can we talk about this little tidbit regarding ending the Frogmore Tenancy:

”Following the decision, Harry is said to have asked his father, "You don't want to see your grandchildren any more?"“

Has Charles even been allowed to see them more than once or twice over the past 4 years?

How manipulative on a scale of 1-10?

Does Harry think KC doesn’t know about the vast properties where H&M could stay if they ever do bring the children again?

And this is all while friends of M are saying she never wants to step foot in England again?

Serenster · 27/11/2023 12:49

It perfectly shows that Kate is possible of doing more than just showing up and smiling. She has the strength to do what is needed.

She has shown that before too. This picture was taken in a visit to a Mosque in Malaysia in 2012. The couple had found out just before the visit that a French magazine had published topless pictures of her, taken with a long-range telephoto lens, when she and William had been staying in David Linley ms villa in France. Reporters on the tour were impressed at how she just got on with the job, and didn’t give any hint of the fury and embarrassment she must have been feeling.

I agree. I think she was very conscious of how she came across and used it for her own ends.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 27/11/2023 13:01

That's a beautiful picture @Serenster . IIRC, future President Trump sent some fairly salacious tweets about those pictures at the time, the gross pig that he is. I imagine Catherine had to face up to him too when he did his state visit to London. Poor woman. I can't imagine there are many people who have had to face up to the most powerful man in the world, after he's admitted to ogling naked pictures of them.

Ah so recollections do vary it seems.

One second the family claims there is no royal racist, then deny that there were two, "no no just one!"

Disgusting

Eh? Where has anyone other than Harry, Meghan and Omid Scobie Meg’s Pom Pom girl claimed anything about a racist?

The only ones who can't get their story straight is Harry & Meghan, and their mouthpiece, OS. Seriously, they all need to shit or get off the pot on this subject. If it's true, what are they worried about?

OurCollectiveImagination · 27/11/2023 14:07

Seems from all the various coverage of this book that there is nothing really new at all is there. I see Omid declares himself to be a cheerleader for Meghan. How on earth does he think this is going to help them. It is just cringeworthy raking over stuff that has been done to death already. It all seems so petty and bitchy.

They keep telling people that they have 'moved on' yet here we are again, the same old stories rehashed, he said she said.

He says the Sussexes are not involved yet he knows what was said (or wasn't said) in the car on the way to the walk about. With only 4 people present. Well who told him then?

I am wondering if stuff is being fed to Markus Anderson who feeds it to him to create the necessary plausible deniability.

It is rank hypocrisy though - the constant allegations the Royals are feeding the press through friends and aides. Exactly what they are doing.

Yes, I’m keeping an open mind on the letters until tomorrow when we can get the full picture. Making reference to personal letters is one thing but I’d find it incredible if the contents (or parts of) said letters were divulged because that would be an incredibly stupid thing to do.

themessygarden · 27/11/2023 14:28

Another scathing and humorous review

Some extracts.

'No one escapes criticism — except Harry and Meghan, says Hilary Rose'

'The subtitle of the book could be Kate Gets a Kicking.'

'It’s worth recalling here that Scobie and the Sussexes routinely deny that they’re in cahoots, until they are compelled to admit the opposite in court.'

'Scobie was one of very few close friends and aides who gathered at Buckingham Palace to wish Meghan farewell after her last turn as a working royal on Commonwealth Day in 2020. But to be clear, he barely knows them. He has only concluded that they are wonderful and everyone else is horrid after careful, impartial examination of their notes. Sorry, his notes.'

Apparently we — you? Me? Him over there? — “infantilise” Kate and she is “cold” to people she doesn’t like, and I expect in California they’re warm and friendly to people they don’t like.

'I think the royal family will be with us for a while yet. And I think the residents of Montecito who style their children prince and princess are banking on it.'

Only ones who claim there was/wasn't a racist are H&M.
They said there was, then he said there wasn't, now she's claiming there were 2!
It's like that old Hollywood saying: "which lie did I tell?"
