What surreptitious timing, Thomas Markle has been wheeled out again, let's hear what he has to say.

the vindictive cruel behaviour of the royal institution and those around it at the time
Even so Harry and Meghan did not want to NC though.

Why won’t you answer it though?

The question is based on a hypothetical situation, a subjective opinion that only makes sense if you think she was lucky or gained something by marrying him. I don't think she did, other than the normal stuff like marrying someone you love and having a happy marriage. I think he is the lucky one. The 'question' is all the worst criticisms of Meghan which I don't think are based on anything real or accurate. Most of the time when women are judged like this, its based on the assumptions people make, people who are outside of the relationship.

Maybe if you read my post thoroughly you would have seen that I (along with many other people) find what she does is boring. Her as a person I find quite intriguing, as I say in my post, if you'd cared to read further.

A woman who had a mediocre acting career which was coming to an end because of her age, who was never a Hollywood star or any kind of A-lister, is suddenly given a platform on the world stage due to who she married. Yet she throws this all away because she feels she now has the glamour of royalty with Harry and can now fulfill her lifelong Hollywood dream. What she didn't understand was the crowds weren't there to see meghan markle, they were there because she was married to royalty. One of the most (then) endearing members of the BRF, being Harry.

Without the backing of the RF meghan and harry have exposed themselves as vindictive, petty and untalented. There only success was in trashing the RF. They really are a train wreck in slow motion, and I find their increasing desperation and narrowing career opportunities, funny. Shadenfreude isn't a nice thing, but when I think of their cruelty to the Queen and her dying husband...

As @Zippygeorgeandbungle Desperation and cringe. WME won't save them.

a mediocre acting career

She had a long run with a cult series - why demean that? She is charming on screen. Prince and Princess of Wales were fans of the show.

she feels she now has the glamour of royalty with Harry and can now fulfill her lifelong Hollywood dream

Any backup for this statement? Even a hint written or said of "her life long Hollywood dream" would be acceptable. Any interview I have seen she says she was living her dream working on Suits. But maybe there are other interviews that I missed saying she had another, bigger dream.

who was never a Hollywood star or any kind of A-lister,

She never claimed to be an A lister. It seems other people wanted her to be an A lister. All told, it seems like she was very happy doing her thing.

What she didn't understand was the crowds weren't there to see meghan markle, they were there because she was married to royalty.

I think newspaper coverage would put lie to that statement. For sure she became known due to him. But as usual - the British tabloids forcus (tear to shreads)on the woman.

Without the backing of the RF meghan and harry have exposed themselves as vindictive, petty and untalented.

In their treatment of Meghan and Harry the RF have exposed themselves vindictive, petty and seriously untalented.

They really are a train wreck in slow motion, and I find their increasing desperation and narrowing career opportunities, funny.

They are going from strength to strength, at their own pace. Their increasing confidence and broadening career opportunities are interesting to observe.

Shadenfreude isn't a nice thing

Oh go on...

but when I think of their cruelty to the Queen and her dying husband...

The Queen of England was a tough old boot who should have resigned years ago. Ego kept her on the throne. Her own son denounced her for for being a cold, unloving woman. Her husband was the same.
We are not talking about a sweet old granny here. This woman never bended her rules, not even to give her grandsons a hug when their mother died.

...and didn't believe a word of it. I pride myself on my lack of gullibility

😅

Genuine question: if someone had in real life acted as cynically and deliberately as Meghan is accused of - married someone high profile for fame and/or money, made sure they were separated from their family, exploited that family by selling stories against them, say - would it be acceptable for members of the general public to not think very highly of that man or woman?

It is a very interesting question.

Most of the people hoodwinked into marriage through history have been women. Men who wanted their welth, men who wanted to hide their homosexuality, men who wanted maids, and so on.

The trope that women do it has really stuck.

DH has a hankering to go on a cruise there. We're in SAGA territory now.

We went on a small boat cruise and stayed a bit on land too, I can't even put into words the scenery on the fjords, I've never seen so many waterfalls and breathtaking scenes. Just beautiful
