The trailer for 'Heart of Invictus" has been released by Netflix, and it looks incredible, and so moving.

For those interested, please find it here.

thanks for the updates @MissElinorDashwood

@JamieFrasersfurrysporran I copied it I think twice, word for word and no he never said , ' I got no support'. Part of the reason for invictus its to create a support network that is specific for veterans, some of the participants have talked about what receiving support from other veterans means etc so it was about the kind of support available and as he's said before, its hard to recognise what you need until its too late.

My earlier posts have all stated my support for Invictus, veterans and the struggle to get help for mental health

MissElinorDashwood · 04/09/2023 12:31

Sorry, I meant the clarification you want to make. It’s is an important topic in regards to mental health support.

Well people do here every day. The point @skullbabe was clearly making was that the same treatment, several threads a day for years on end, isn't dished out for the others, just Harry and Meghan.

Good to know you agree it’s fine to ridicule Harry and Meghan for their current actions.

I imagine if there had been social media when Sarah Ferguson, Diana and Charl;se were doing their tell-all interviews and Sarah and Diana’s subsequent activities there would have been several threads a day for years on end too. But obviously there wasn’t, so it’s not a helpful comparison.

LadyMuckingabout · 04/09/2023 12:32

The Invictus Games should be on a separate section of MN, then, if you want no discussion of Harry. This is the royal family board.

I hope all these fervent supporters of wounded military personnel show the same level of enthusiasm for the Cenotaph ceremony and Armistice Day commemorations. The television coverage usually features work done with ex-servicemen - with disabilities and difficulties.

You obviously know I don;t think that so please don't be goady. I was clarifying what @skullbabe meant.

Can I clarify the issues surrounding Harry and the documentary? He said he didn't get support but in 2017 claimed his brother helped him? Stated that the British press released his serving in Afghanistan but actually it was the American media?

Just in terms of how the world learned that Harry was deployed to Afghanistan in 2008, it wasn’t released by the British Press. Australian gossip magazine New Idea (popularly known as “No Idea” 😀 ) was the first to publish the information, and it was then picked up and broadcast up the Drudge report in the US. That was what garnered the worldwide attention.

Harry was very well aware of this, as he wrote in Spare:

”An Australian magazine had picked up the story and told everyone that I was in Afghanistan. The magazine was inconsequential, so at first no one had noticed the story, until some [journalist] in the US read the article, posted it on his c*py website, and the trackers got hold of it.

And, to be fair, Harry didn’t expressly claim that it was the British press that leaked his whereabouts. But he strongly implied that in his comment below (self evidently, the British press were not the only ones who knew he was there, New Idea found out themselves via an Aussie soldier who snapped a picture of Harry in camp):

'The whole reason I was allowed to go to Afghanistan in the first place was because it was kept a secret. While I was there for the ten weeks no one knew apart from the British press who said ''we'll keep quiet as long as we get access. To suddenly be on the way home I was angry. But it was important for everyone around me – their safety – to remove me.”

@Serenster Thank you

@Samcro i don’t think anyone has answered your question about the likes button. If they have, sorry for repeating.

if I want to like your post I hit the thanks button, you will see the like and who liked your post (me) but no one else will know.

Going to like your last post as soon as I’ve posted this.

I don't think he implied it at all. The British press had not said anything, as he says, only they knew for a while... implying that when those outside the British press found out, thats when he was pulled out. Which is what happened.

interview with producer Joanna Natasegara

'"We treated the Duke as we would any other contributor — the same process, the same duty of care, the same respect. And the same questions. It was really important to see him in the same way as the others, and I think he comes across in the same way, as an equal, to the others in the show.

Harry was a "great partner" to work with on Heart of Invictus.

'We treated the Duke as we would any other contributor'

The Duke Confused I mean call him Harry fgs I don't recall any of the participants being referred to as Mr this, Mrs that or even military titles?

He doesn't come across as an equal in the slightest. He comes across as someone desperately trying to fit in and changing his stories to assist him in his 'one of the guys' quest.

skullbabe · 04/09/2023 17:05

Contact Joanna Natesegara’s agent to let her know that she should have called him Harry and not the Duke.

I think the team succeeded mostly with this - the veterans stories are really impactful.

It's a bit longwinded for me. I've only managed 2 eps so far, I find the often inactive scenes a bit boring tbh. Julia in her kitchen and her dd, us just watching them, I mean why? The first 2 eps should've and could've been edited into half an hour. Maybe the next 3 will have a bit more content.

Roussette · 04/09/2023 11:14

Of course. He had a rugby career.

Not sure how selling pics of his firstborn to OK for six figures quite fits into that though

feel free to thank me 😂

they could probably make a lot more, probably similar millions to what H & M made, if they spilled the beans on the good, the bad and the ugly in the RF.

I agree, being RF adjacent makes them valuable, so they can and do make money purely because of their connection. Sarah Ferguson, Andrew, The Tindalls, Harry & Meghan, they are all in the same 'camp' of selling their connection to the RF.

MissElinorDashwood · 04/09/2023 17:44

Probably best not to start on this. There are many of us who remember the Royals behaviour in this drama which led to Oprah, Netflix and Spare. This is a thread for Invictus. Let’s leave it here.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 04/09/2023 17:44

I've only managed 2 eps so far Wow, so much to say and criticise and you haven;t watched it all? You've even tried to insist what Invictus is all about and that Harry was in it too much and no longer suitable, but you haven't watched it all!!!

Yes I agree they did. I'm going to watch a couple of the episodes again with the rest of my family tonight and I will definitely be watching what I can of this years games.

Well, as I said previously there has been many clips available and 2 episodes does give insight, obviously. The op hadn't watched any of it when they started their critique!

skullbabe · 04/09/2023 17:51

Yes the next three episodes have more content but I don’t think that the series is for you because the way it was put together remains the same throughout. Very few people who actually watch the whole series find much to criticise but think stylistic choices re:editing, sound and length are certainly personal to the viewer and so if the first 2 episodes weren’t to your liking it’s probably best you avoid.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 04/09/2023 17:51

That's because when she started the thread it hadn't;t aired yet! She shared the trailer in the OP and has probably posted less than you!

Edited

Errr it was Harry who did Oprah, Netflix and Spare, I don't think we can blame all of that on other people

skullbabe · 04/09/2023 17:55

The op hadn't watched any of it when they started their critique!

That’s true - she posted expressing her excitement about the trailer and the games. The thread then progressed to people counting down to when the series started and then continued after many on the thread had watched the full series. There have been many segues into people speculating about what is in the series without actually watching it but that has been the focus of this thread. The trailer, the documentary and the games.

MissElinorDashwood · 04/09/2023 17:57

@Janiie That comes as no surprise. Maybe it’s best not to watch the rest. Everything about Harry makes you so angry. It can’t be healthy. There’s clearly nothing that you like about him so I don’t know why you’re on a thread that’s celebrating the Invictus Games and what will most likely be Harry’s legacy. We’re almost on post 1000 and you’re still determined to attack everything about him.
I certainly wouldn’t put this much effort into a person that I dislike so vehemently. It’s not worth it.
