Y’know when the Daily Mail or any other tabloid runs a random story it’s actually about something else and they’re trying really unsubtley to tell you? (Ie Ryan giggs of many affairs being painted as a loving husband with snaps of him looking absolutely miserable shortly before the affairs broke)

What are the DM trying to say here?

some interesting lines, particularly about the Chumleys staying “close to the royals”

Kate Middleton 'went to music festival' with her friend Rose Hanbury

The Princess of Wales, 41, is understood to have made her first ever visit to a music festival at the weekend, albeit a very upper-class one at Houghton Hall in Norfolk.

Perhaps it’s the fact that she is a young mum out for a night with her mates? She should be at home with her husband and children at all times or doing her royal duties. Kate must not let her hair down and enjoy herself! 🚫

They both seem to be doing a lot of solo engagements in their time off, which is considerable. A certain footballer got caught having an affair with a hairdresser that revealed all and tarnished his previously unsullied reputation as a decent dad/husband. After that he stuck to aristo gels who know to keep schtum and everybody is then happy.

I once sat next to a table of two vairry vairry rich ladies lunching in Chelsea and overheard them detailing the affairs of their errant very, very rich husbands - and the punchline was darling - you know we rent them we don't own them ! To which they both dissolved into hysterics !

Nice story about someone having a nice time with a friend. Lovely to see her letting her hair down and being less formal. Hope she had a nice time.

On another note...do people actually believe The Crown is historically accurate? 😂😂😂😂😂

It was a badge of honour for an aristocrats wife to be taken as a royal mistress? Maybe in the 18th century.

It's clearly a slow newspaper day if all the press can do is print stories about a couple attending various entertainments separately. F**k me, I went out for the entire day with friends, DH went out on his hobby on Sunday. We're obviously both having affairs 😉

Or print stories about someone going to the dentist!

Precisely the monarchy is stuck in the 18th Century - which folk love, the carriages, dress, places and pomp. You are not royal to my knowledge so normal MN rules apply. I think a husband going solo to a number of weddings would be an MN red flag though - or at least tongues would wag !

Not sure why my comment was deleted but again, there is no evidence whatsoever of any affair apart from the imaginations of some people. Rumours fuelled by people who admitted they lied about an affair doesn't make it the truth.

Angrycat2768 · 15/08/2023 08:55

I mean, does it really matter if William is shagging about all over the place? It's not a big deal in those circles. I would be gobsmacked if the Wales's divorced. Kate has basically subsumed her entire life into being Williams wife and William knows the stability of the Monarchy is at stake if there's another scandal. He must also realise thst Kate is the perfect Royal wife. The only reason we know about the other affairs was because of the divorces. Right up to the end of Charles and Diana's marriage the rumours were denied by the Palace and often the press until they themselves decided to speak out, then all the stuff that the press had been hiding for years came tumbling out.

polkadotdalmation · 15/08/2023 09:08

@MamoruHisaishi You know what they say...repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth.

@Angrycat2768 You say the Palace issued statements denying there were problems with the marriage? I was too young but it sounds very unlikely they would have commented on the state of their marriage. If you say this, please produce a link as evidence, because I for one don't think it's true.

PrincessTigger · 15/08/2023 09:08

What if a married man and married woman can be in each other’s proximity without having an affair?

It would matter as that would basically be a replay of the Charles Diana Camilla situation and would probably destroy whatever good will the royal family has left. Also, if William was truly ‘shagging’ about all over the place then there would definitely be stories leaked of the women he's been with, and not just one where the people who started the gossip later admitted to making it up. The press didn't shy away from reporting on William and Harry’s drunk escapades and controversial moments, and they've also reported unflattering stories about kate. They've even gone to the extent of committing illegal acts of invading their privacy. Why would the press all of a sudden try and cover up a story that they know would generate lots of clicks and money for them? Also, I think Fergie was photographed in a private moment by paparazzi getting her toes sucked by another man, which lead to the divorce with Andrew, so that contradicts what you just wrote.

polkadotdalmation · 15/08/2023 09:21

@MamoruHisaishi Exactly. In this age of social media and everyone having camera phones, it would be impossible to get away with anything.

I've seem on SM stories of Meghan's son being born via a surrogate. It's totally ridiculous. It would be impossible to pull off in this country.

The palace is a leaky sieve when it comes to gossip, so it would have come out by now. Look at Harry and that poor woman he had sex with in a field, the press were hunting her down and would have uncovered who she was eventually.

Yup, and funny enough, the evidence available actually points to the affair being unlikely, as Pippa named her baby Rose and Kate does still hang out with Rose. The original story regarding conflict between Kate and Rose didn't mention an affair either. The first person who mentioned an affair was an American woman who later admitted to making it up, and then there was another who fuelled the rumour but also later admitted to making it up. The rest are people who claim to have known someone who works, hangs out with, related to the people involved and yet no one has been able to produce any evidence of an affair happening whatsoever.

True monarchists shouldn't be bothered if that was true and should take a leaf out of the late Queen's book and maintain dignified silence. Frequent rebuttals just add coals to the fire.

As an aside I was at Wilderness Festival a couple of weeks ago and had the privilege to watch the debate at The Forum with Camilla Tominey, Graham Smith, Yasmin Alibahi-Brown & Oli Dugmore chaired by Serena Kutchinsky called Long to reign over us... Is the monarchy past its sell-by date?

Aside to the point as it was slightly unfair, as it was 4 to 1 (including the chair1! ) against Camilla who magnificently rose to the occasion for the defence. YAB was in full on fury mode recounting an anecdote of when she was governor at the RSC and PP came to visit. He went along the line and shook everyone hands but hers, but to her husband who is white and was her +1 next to her said "is he with you ?" with a dismissive laugh. At one point I thought she was going to hit CT - but they did kiss and make up after the event- and I got a chance to shake Graham's hand and wish him luck with his campaign.

There’s no dots to join here. Some people have such vivid imaginations and an obsessive agenda. Young mum going out with her mates for a fun night is all I see.

Perhaps the most ridiculous thing on this thread is the repeated description of a woman in her 40s with school aged children as a "young mum". Although as someone with similar statistics perhaps I should run with it. Grin

The Royal Cuck Consort - it's accepted in aristo circles that if a Royal (male - it's always men) takes fancy you graciously demur and by doing so get accepted and privileges inside the tent as it were. They are then free as well to shop around - they are not like us mere morals - different rules apply. The Crown does a beautiful job of dramatising basically in essence essential truths about our Royal Family which if were depersonalised and put on MN would scandalise and have us all on the side of the wronged woman or conversely she would be the demomised OW. Them's the rules.....

https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/a29417415/princess-anne-andrew-parker-bowles-relationship-the-crown-true-story/

This isn’t borne out by the only recent example of a royal mistress though. Friends of Camilla have often stated that she wanted to divorce her serially unfaithful husband Andrew Parker Bowles for many years, as his constant affairs made her miserable. He refused, on the basis he was Catholic and marriage was for life. Then, when it became publicly known that she and Charles were together, it was massive hypocrit Andrew who filed for divorce. So no, there was no “gracious demurral” as you put it.

Well these 'friends' who are as reliable as my fetid mind no doubt would say that wouldn't they ? None of us here know the truth, so we are all speculating according to our own views and opinions. I start from the premise that hugely wealthy entitled alpha males in their 'prime' are probably up to no good in the bedroom department - because it is in their nature and the endless opportunity of willing partners that throw themselves at them. I mean John Major ffs - who would have thought !

People might quite justifiably consider an opinion that all such men would behave in such a way as a misandrist opinion, though?

It was brilliant - Yasmin was splenetic in her fury - almost shaking whereas Camilla started as if she had swallowed a wasp and walked into a trap. The largely middle class crowd started as a Republic majority by a large majority and ended that way. That said in the Q&A a German gent said how much he admired them and another lady said they made her happy and helped her with her mental health. When Camilla got into her stride and Graham Smith was on a rant she jibed 'yawn' .... which got a good laugh.
