Kate Middleton raves - today’s top story. What are they getting at?

Y’know when the Daily Mail or any other tabloid runs a random story it’s actually about something else and they’re trying really unsubtley to tell you? (Ie Ryan giggs of many affairs being painted as a loving husband with snaps of him looking absolutely miserable shortly before the affairs broke)

What are the DM trying to say here?

some interesting lines, particularly about the Chumleys staying “close to the royals”

Kate Middleton 'went to music festival' with her friend Rose Hanbury

The Princess of Wales, 41, is understood to have made her first ever visit to a music festival at the weekend, albeit a very upper-class one at Houghton Hall in Norfolk.

Except that did not happen Pilates.

Okay this is major twisting of words in this thread.
I know someone said on MN that there is a Facebook group for royalists on MN. Have you all decided that the best strategy now is to attack by twisting people's words and making up that they said things they did not?
As a tactic it might make people give up commenting here. But it does not change the reality that most people think William as president of the FA was wrong not to go to the World Cup final.
The same happened on here after the colonialist tour. Again most people think that was wrong and photos still appear in the press and social media about it.
You can't spin and attack your way out of such obvious missteps.

Serenster · 22/08/2023 09:27

Asterdaisy, since it’s clear many posters read your post in exactly the same way, it might perhaps be because you phrased it badly, not because people are twisting your words?

Serenster · 22/08/2023 09:28

Going for dinner with friends and then having dessert on top of that elsewhere is something I would do. But I am not very slim like Kate. You don't stay that slim by being a glutton. And if she really did eat all that and still say slim then that would suggest an eating disorder.

Just for clarity - what you did say.

Can all the unwarranted speculation about Harry and Meghan stop now too?

Exactly! I'm a child of divorce and recently separated from my daughter's father. Speculating about anyone else's marriage is just cruel especially when children are involved.

Sorry to hear about your separation Nono. Even if we decide separation is the best way, it can still be very tough:

asterdaisy · 22/08/2023 09:39

@Serenster I was very clear that I don't believe for a second she ate all that. So yes it is selective quoting.

myrtleWilson · 22/08/2023 10:27

"all that" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the first instance. I really dislike this ED inference -often with faux naïveté like a thread once started on here "Why does Kate have plasters on her hands - I presume it's because she does a lot of gardening, yes?"

Also, as a mother of a Dd who has endured the hellscape that is anorexia the casual way in which EDs are lobbed into chat is fucking disgusting.

Serenster · 22/08/2023 13:11

Back to the actual story, there are some Aussies who attended the rave festival and have gone through their photos and discovered one of Kate in the background. She’s wearing the same top and earrings as in the photo already published of the event.

@Serenster I was very clear that I don't believe for a second she ate all that. So yes it is selective quoting.

But it sounded like you didn’t believe she ate all that because if she did, she must have an eating disorder. Which is what I understood from your original post. If that is not what you meant then you phrased it very badly which is what @Serenster said. It is quite possible that she ate “all that” as a one off. It no way indicates that if she did she must have an eating disorder. And as @myrtleWilson said, this is not something to throw about into casual chat and I apologise for doing so, but my point is that your original post was very unclear and certainly suggested that was what you meant. No one has twisted your words.

AliceOlive · 22/08/2023 14:21

Yes, it’s the idea that is someone ate a meal then had a dessert drink later they have an eating disorder.

That’s wrong thinking and offensive to say out loud. Id worry more about the wrong thinking, honestly. It’s an unhealthy idea.

And that if you do you are a glutton.

We have a really unhealthy view of food and eating as a society IMO and I hate to see it.

pilates · 22/08/2023 19:35

It’s funny @asterdaisy because most people I know couldn’t give a rat’s arse whether PW went to the cup final or not.

Thank you! It definitely is tough but it's for the best

asterdaisy · 23/08/2023 08:39

Except Alice I did not say that,
Going for a formal dinner at friends and then deciding impromptu to go out for an additional dessert is gluttony.

As a Scot I've noticed that when it comes to the English, football and the World Cup all sense goes out the window.

It's hysterical humorous to observe.

Eat whatever & whenever you fancy, ladies 👍

Hi gang,
Just noting that there seems to be a bit of a goading tone creeping in again, so if we could possibly keep that down to a low simmer life would be easier for all of us...

If I did that, I would need to order a new front door. A wider one!
🤣

Is it a coincidence that the inventors of fine cuisine also invented French doors?

Lalgarh · 05/09/2023 22:04

Duchess Lovely Kate of Lovelyshire had never been to a festival until she hit 41?
