Y’know when the Daily Mail or any other tabloid runs a random story it’s actually about something else and they’re trying really unsubtley to tell you? (Ie Ryan giggs of many affairs being painted as a loving husband with snaps of him looking absolutely miserable shortly before the affairs broke)

What are the DM trying to say here?

some interesting lines, particularly about the Chumleys staying “close to the royals”

Kate Middleton 'went to music festival' with her friend Rose Hanbury

The Princess of Wales, 41, is understood to have made her first ever visit to a music festival at the weekend, albeit a very upper-class one at Houghton Hall in Norfolk.

The alleged image.

She is talking with David, Rose her husband. And Rose is standing behind her. Enough said.

A very unusual angle taken from the floor. Most strange.

If no pic of this leaks it probably didn't happen. Which they haven't so it probably didn't. My moneys on the DM made it up / had it planted by person or persons 'unknown'. In a world where everyone has a phone with a camera my money is on her not going at all or by ‘going’ she stood for five minutes out of sight with all her security then left. Funny that this comes hard on the heels of PW going out clubbing solo....

KOKO is not a nightclub, btw. It's a concert venue.

It can be both depending on the nature of the event. I have been. They do have 'club' nights.

Kate’s upper-middle-class rave at Houghton Festival — I was there too
Yes, it’s Britain’s poshest festival, but the royal VIP surprised me, says one partygoer
Anonymous
Wednesday August 16 2023, 12.01am BST, The Times
If you had told me when I booked my tickets to the Houghton Festival that I’d be raving with the Princess of Wales I’d never have believed you. But last weekend that’s what happened.
Like many electronic music fans, I’m a regular at Houghton. It’s known for nonstop music and I’ve been three times. The acts are pretty much as good as it gets.
The princess obviously agrees. She was a dinner guest of the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley, who own Houghton Hall in Norfolk, where the festival is based. Apparently after dinner one of the guests suggested that the princess visit the festival — so she did.
I didn’t hear about her being there at the time, and I have to say I’m a bit surprised. But if she was going to one thing it would make sense to go there because it’s not that busy and they don’t oversell it. I’ve never seen a celebrity and it is nothing like Glastonbury, which is crazy. There are 12,000 people, not 200,000.
It’s essentially an upper-middle class rave. Everywhere you are surrounded by mega-posh people and it’s definitely the most private-school festival, with a lot of post-art degree people who live in Clapton and New Cross. Having been to private school, you always see people you recognise and there are also a lot of Instagram figures there, including models.
They’re big on glamping. I know plenty of people who did it and I imagine it sells out. They’re definitely catering to it and the luxury side in a big way. It’s all around a big lake and there’s a fancy restaurant on it that we went to last year (£100 for two people).

There’s a lot of hippy stuff such as sound bathss: a meditation thing where you listen to a gong. I just listened to music.
Last year my mate stayed up for three days and took a load of acid and then convinced himself he had to swim out to the middle of the lake and relieve himself and got put into a welfare tent, although they are pretty relaxed security-wise and let you crack on with what you want to do. I don’t think 24-hour music encourages people to behave particularly well, but I think it’s a great thing.
The toilets are decent compared with most festivals although I wouldn’t think these are fit for royalty. There is a little area with about 15 food options but the prices have skyrocketed. You don’t get much change out of £20. It costs £250 for ticket from Thursday to Monday but I don’t feel particularly aggrieved by paying this.

Musically, I think it’s the best festival I’ve been to. We were there for three days and didn’t go to a single stage that was boring. I’ll go again next year and probably continue to do so.
Craig Richards, who does all the programming for Fabric, the London nightclub, is in charge of booking the artists so it’s more or less entirely electronic music. He is mates with every top-end DJ. I think it’s the only festival in England that’s got a 24-hour music licence so the music doesn’t stop. It’s pretty impressive.

When you wander around it’s full of Italians and Australians. We spoke to a few and they had flown over especially for it. It’s a gorgeous setting and the organisers do an amazing job of making it look great. Their stage design is as good as you’re going to get anywhere.
Basically, they get it right. They cater to people who really love that kind of stuff; the DJs work for three hours and a lot of them play vinyl records; the speakers are great. So many festivals have to turn it all down after midnight. There’s none of that there.
I hope Kate enjoyed it as much as I did.

No. That looks like a genuine "papped" photo by someone sneaking it on their phone.

We're too used to staged paparazzi shots set up by the celebs and photos taken on high quality cameras by professional photographers where the lighting and angles are all prearranged to flatter the subject.

That photo is the real thing.

MrsFinkelstein · 16/08/2023 10:12

So basically, the Hanbury's own the land the festival is held on, and invited dinner guest(s) to go to the festival for a few hours one evening.

Hardly the initial implication that Kate spent 3 days at a 24hr rave partying 🙄

Nono22972 · 16/08/2023 10:27

This Richard Eden seems to know an awful lot - with tales of a £700 tip no less. Just a few months ago the same so-called journalist reported that Kate was overshadowing the King and Queen no doubt from his same impeccable sources.

Probably leaked by the Cholmondeleys to promote the event. I never knew this festival existed until yesterday

Those talking about Pippa naming her child Rose are using middle class concepts and morals.

Diana was the only one who did not seem to understand how it worked.

Affairs at least amongst the men, are largely accepted as how marriages operate.
Just like living in separate houses is fairly normal.

The Middletown are aping the aristocracy. To do that you have to leave middle class concepts behind.

40-50 years ago maybe. The days were aristocrats would get married, stay in unhappy marriages and have separate lives are over, Not saying that it still doesn't happen but a lot of aristo marriages were arranged back in the day. It doesn't happen anymore. Hell, even some of William's aristo friends are divorced. There would be bo gain in W&K staying in an unhappy marriage and living separately :

  1. William saw his parents keep up apparences for years and knows how much that affected him. Just like him, I grew up with parents who lived in the same house but slept in different bedrooms and had completely separate lives (we didn’t even go on holidays together) and I would hope that, knowing how that felt like, he wouldn’t subject his own children to that same trauma

  2. Charles showed William that separation/divorce and eventually remarriage is possible : Charles and Diana’s divorce was shocking because he was the first heir to the throne to divorce in recent times especially in a time where divorce was not that acceptable. But today, a divorce will not rock the monarchy, especially if the split is amicable (a la Tom Brady and Gisele). We’re in a time when less and less people are getting married, those who do get married have a 50% chance of getting divorced, people are less religious, less traditional and less conservative.

Most of us would not accept our husbands having an affair either, but this is commonly accepted in the aristocracy.

You'd be surprised at how many regular people stay in unhappy relationships, getting cheated on constantly.

It's looking like Diana was the last of the aristo wives of a monarch. They all gave W & H a wide berth. Too much hassle when you can bag a hedgie or another true aristo and live a luxurious life in relative obscurity.

Exactly! That's exactly why most aristo girls rejected William (and Harry). They know the real deal. It's better to have a life a la Pippa, married to a rich aristocrat, having the freedom to spend money without having the taxpayers scrutinizing everything, live a life of privilege and luxury without the media spotlight 24/7.

I think the photo is the real thing. Smart phone, distorted lens. But isn’t it interesting how Kate is looking straight at the camera? (I would almost guarantee she’s unaware that someone is taking her photo). It’s a very lucky shot for the privacy thief who snapped it.

I'm guessing that woman can sniff out a camera at 100 paces like no one else on this planet. Probably has people whipping out their phones for supposedly surreptitious photos every time she leaves the house.

If it smells like a fish, swims like a fish and lives in the lake of Houghton Hall I think it is bit fishy. Funny that just a few days ago Meghan was at Taylor Swift concert.

Taylor Swift can now add the Duchess of Sussex to the list of stars who’ve caught her on the Eras Tour.

A source close to Duchess Meghan confirms to Bazaar.com that she attended Swift’s Tuesday evening show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, and was even seen singing and dancing along to the musician’s biggest—recent and throwback—hits.

Meghan’s fun outing came just days after she and Prince Harry celebrated her 42nd birthday as a family, and almost a week after the two were photographed enjoying a celebratory dinner with friends at Tre Lune in their home city of Montecito, California. For that occasion, Meghan looked lovely in a strapless black-and-white striped dress from Posse.

Harry did not join his wife at the Swift concert, as he is in Japan on business. Today, he attended the ISPS Sports Values Summit Special Edition in Tokyo to talk about the work Sentebale, a charity he co-founded, does to help children and young people in southern Africa feel empowered, healthy, and resilient.

SoFi Stadium is about a two-hour drive from Montecito, where Harry and Meghan moved after stepping back as senior members of the royal family in 2020. Harry has been spotted at the venue as well—in 2022, when he attended the Super Bowl with cousin Princess Eugenie, who was visiting from England at the time.

@vera99 so Kate got snapped at a festival no one had heard of, attended by only 12k people.

But Meghan went to a concert with 70k people and every celeb there got papped (even Karlie Kloss up in the nosebleed section) and not one single person got a photo??

Sure thing Jan.

There is absolutely ample evidence of Prince Phillip and Penny Knatchbull’s relationship. They were living together when he died. She is the reason why the RF fought to keep his will secret.

For quite a while MN deleted any posts mentioning this. I wonder if the same will happen to this post.

Penny Knatchbull was often described as a ‘friend’ of the late queen.

If Philip left anything to anyone other than tbt Queen it would have leaked because IHT would have become a factor.

Thats the same reason the Queen left everything to Charles. Same reason the Queen Mother left everything to the Queen.

Philip was nearly 100 when he died - if he had wanted to give anything to Penny, or anyone else, he’d have got it all sorted long before needing to put it in a will!

Oh that it was so.

Diana and her brother Charles Spencer both were said to be deeply affected by their mother leaving them ( and apparently she fought hard to be with them but was thwarted) and yet Charles Spencer is now on his 3rd marriage with 7 children.

Because their photographs are all over SM - it's one of the events of the year, and one everyone is enjoying. People at the concerts are looking for celebs who are also there.

Meghan is currently very well recognised - someone would have got a photo. Her US fans are desperate for her to be friends with Taylor.

Was she?

So she's so targetted by 'paps' that they hang around a small town just so they might catch a photo of her walking down steps? Yet at a major media event attended by tens of thousands of people, not one of them thought to take a photo of her? Including the person who 'supposedly' saw her singing along?

But even if Meghan was at the concert, why would the Princess of Wales know or care? Exactly what 'fish' are you smelling?

But that's how you nail social and reach out of your "grannie loves you" prison which ultimately leads nowhere. Had he or his team had the nous and the work ethic to build on that then he wouldn't appear to be struggling to appear 'real' or relevant now. But you have to engage or at least fake it and keep it running year after year. H&M are who they would love to be but never will be. Lol only in your imagination. William and Kate are currently the most popular royals in both the UK and the US. The Sussexes have become a laughing stock and aren't considered A list in Hollywood. They're not even respected at this point. They're just famous for being former working royals.
