Kate Middleton raves - today’s top story. What are they getting at?

Y’know when the Daily Mail or any other tabloid runs a random story it’s actually about something else and they’re trying really unsubtley to tell you? (Ie Ryan giggs of many affairs being painted as a loving husband with snaps of him looking absolutely miserable shortly before the affairs broke)

What are the DM trying to say here?

some interesting lines, particularly about the Chumleys staying “close to the royals”

Kate Middleton 'went to music festival' with her friend Rose Hanbury

The Princess of Wales, 41, is understood to have made her first ever visit to a music festival at the weekend, albeit a very upper-class one at Houghton Hall in Norfolk.

I just had to google ''lavender marriage''!

The whole rave story is just bizarre.

She went to a formal dinner at the Hall, but then also ate dinner at the restaurant in the rave. Two dinners?

She went to a formal dinner and had to be persuaded to make an impromptu stop at the rave, but isn't dressed for dinner at all. I can hardly believe she attended a dinner at Houghton Hall wearing black skinny jeans and white trainers. So it was a spur of the moment decision but she just happened to have a clubbing outfit?

The media using the story to drop heavy hints about William not being present, why?

Can't figure out who leaked this and why.

Who says it was a formal dinner at the Hall? It just says she went for dinner with friends. The Marquis was in the photo talking to Catherine wearing his barbour jacket - he obviously wasn't dressed up.

And if you actually read the reports you'll see that all it says is that the restaurant they were in at the festival CAN offer a 4 course meal to those who want it, but that Catherine just had some dessert and drinks.

@Nono22972 the cholmondleys leaking this made up story to promote their festival at least makes sense.

I didn't see it from that angle.
Good call.

There's no way Kate had 2 dinners.

A very odd story.

@Nono22972 the cholmondleys leaking this made up story to promote their festival at least makes sense.

Firstly, if you’re promoting something you issue a press release giving load of the details of the event you are publicising, you don’t “leak” a story that’s not even about what’s happening at the event.

Secondly, it is the stupidest PR advice I’ve ever heard to promote a festival after it has taken place. And you would not do a big promo of the next year’s event so far out either - memories ae far too short for that.

Thirdly, I doubt there’s much crossover between Daily mail royal gossip readers and 24-hour rave festival afficionadoes.

So, no, that theory makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!

asterdaisy · 21/08/2023 14:52

@MrsFinkelstein Kate did not go to dinner with friends and then somewhere else for dessert. If it had been a very informal dinner it would have said she went for supper, not dinner.
Going for dinner with friends and then having dessert on top of that elsewhere is something I would do. But I am not very slim like Kate. You don't stay that slim by being a glutton. And if she really did eat all that and still say slim then that would suggest an eating disorder.

asterdaisy · 21/08/2023 14:54

@Serenster fine if that theory does not hold water. Why are the press publishing this obviously made up story?

Serenster · 21/08/2023 15:00

Why is it obviously made up?

We know it’s true there was an event at Houghton Hall. We know it’s true that there’s was a photo of Kate talking to one of the owners of Houghton Hall while some kind of event was taking place.

A narrative that links the photo to the event has been published. It might be true or it might not - none of us know. The narrative is consistent with what we know, however, so why is it obviously made up?

And I find this post incredibly distasteful.

You don’t know what Kate does or doesn’t eat (It also sounds like you don’t know what an affogato is). Speculation that Kate has an eating disorder and is a “glutton” for having an affogato is really vile.

Jesus Christ. Even very slim people can have dinner and dessert without it meaning an eating disorder.

asterdaisy · 21/08/2023 15:08

Serenseter you are twisting my words. I am a glutton and would have had dinner and then a dessert. Kate is very slim so is obviously not.

asterdaisy · 21/08/2023 15:14

And why would I not know what affogato is? Or is this a class based put down?

I had to, a few days ago, and it wasn't so amazing after all, I thought.

EnragedCatOwner · 21/08/2023 15:53

According that article Kate was wearing a ‘navy dress’, but the photo shows her in skinny jeans. So clearly some facts are incorrect or the photo isn’t what it purports to be

So you are speculating that someone has an eating disorder based on the fact that they may possibly have eaten two desserts, once. And they are slim. Wow. That’s quite a leap.

asterdaisy · 21/08/2023 16:13

I have said I do not believe she ate that amount. Dinner with friends planned. And then an impromptu going out and having dessert and drinks.
It is a made up story, but I have no idea why.

AliceOlive · 21/08/2023 16:15

OMG!
Loads of people who are slim eat dessert on a night out.

If this was just an article about the festival no one would care though we probably wouldn't even be talking about it here

Kate being involved in this story generates a lot of clicks.

And as I said, Richard Eden has recently written article about Rose's family so I just assumed he could be in contact with some of them. How would he even know that Rose's dad got stopped by the authorities at an airport months ago?

Nono22972 · 21/08/2023 16:20

Can all the unwarranted speculation about Harry and Meghan stop now too?

Exactly! I'm a child of divorce and recently separated from my daughter's father. Speculating about anyone else's marriage is just cruel especially when children are involved.

Indeed. I went to a family celebration yesterday. I had two helpings of tiramisu. My figure has not changed 🙄

asterdaisy · 21/08/2023 15:14

What a ridiculous smear! It was because you were suggesting it was gluttonous to have what is a very light dessert after already eating dinner.

In case anyone doesn’t know, affogato is a scoop of ice cream topped with a shot of hot espresso. By the time you consume it it’s more creamy sweet coffee than ice cream. Not exactly analogous to, say, a serving of apple crumble with custard and ice cream!

PrincessTigger · 21/08/2023 16:50

I doubt it was the Chumleys (going phonetically as my spelling is poor 🤣🤣) there were loads of people there literally anyone could’ve taken a photo on their phone.

And while I don’t think we should spread untrue rumours about people’s relationships I’m not a believer in staying together “for the children”. Kate/Meghan if you ever want a divorce, go for it, thrive, it’s not a dirty word anymore 😁

asterdaisy · 21/08/2023 17:02

@Serenster I am a glutton. I would have dinner at a friends house and then go out afterwards and have a dessert and drinks.
It is not normal to have a planned dinner at friends which presumably is planned to be filling. Then after you have eaten having an impromptu going out for dessert and drinks.
Proper italian affogato has liqueur as well. Obviously we have no idea if Kate is supposed to have had the simple version of coffee and a scoop of ice cream which is about 100 to 150 calories,or the type with liquer which can equal the calories in apple pie and custard.
But really none of this matters. The story, or at least elements of it are obviously made up.

No one is twisting your words - you just called another woman you didn't know a glutton or that she had an eating disorder.

That's utterly appalling.

When I was Kate's age I wasn't far off her body shape and size (not as tall and not quite as toned), I could easily have had a dinner at friends earlier in the evening (how do you know it was a formal dinner with more than 3 courses???) and still have had space for an affogato (an espresso over a scoop of ice cream, so basically a creamy coffee) an hour or so later. Women are allowed to have sweet treats you know, even if we do watch what we eat normally.

Appalling attitude.

pilates · 22/08/2023 05:43

To accuse someone of having an eating disorder is a disgraceful thing to say.
