Y’know when the Daily Mail or any other tabloid runs a random story it’s actually about something else and they’re trying really unsubtley to tell you? (Ie Ryan giggs of many affairs being painted as a loving husband with snaps of him looking absolutely miserable shortly before the affairs broke)

What are the DM trying to say here?

some interesting lines, particularly about the Chumleys staying “close to the royals”

Kate Middleton 'went to music festival' with her friend Rose Hanbury

The Princess of Wales, 41, is understood to have made her first ever visit to a music festival at the weekend, albeit a very upper-class one at Houghton Hall in Norfolk.

Lol only in your imagination. William and Kate are currently the most popular royals in both the UK and the US. The Sussexes have become a laughing stock and aren't considered A list in Hollywood. They're not even respected at this point. They're just famous for being former working royals.

Do you have a credible link for that assertion or are you like most of us here shilling our own narratives based on our prejudices ?

Princess Anne is the most popular royal in the UK according to polls, followed by William and Kate.

Most of the US couldn't care less about the RF. Yes, the drama is entertaining and the weddings are nice (23 million viewers for W&K, 29 for H&M) but I still would say that H&M are more popular there

Unlike you, at least I can back up what I wrote. You're the one creating innuendo about the Wales marriage without any proof to back it up and saying that the Wales want to be the Sussexes. Why would they? They're not only richer, the heirs to the throne, and get to mingle with the elites, they also are liked in both the USA and the UK despite the attempts by the sussexes and their fans to bring them down.

Kate Middleton is the most popular royal in America - the ‘soft power’ of the throne | Royal | News | Express.co.uk

Princess Kate is America's most popular royal according to recent polling, and one royal expert believes she is the 'soft power' behind the British throne.

I would say the Wales as a unit are more popular than the Sussexes themselves. Meghan isn't as well liked even in the USA, unlike kate. There's been quite a few polls to show this. This is despite the sussexes efforts to basically smear the Wales, which didn't work as they had hoped.

queentim · 16/08/2023 23:29

Well I certainly hope that if Will is having an affair, then Kate is getting some on the side as well!

MrsFinkelstein · 16/08/2023 14:40

Because their photographs are all over SM - it's one of the events of the year, and one everyone is enjoying. People at the concerts are looking for celebs who are also there.

Meghan is currently very well recognised - someone would have got a photo. Her US fans are desperate for her to be friends with Taylor.

Ok. I’m just catching up with this ‘story’.

Meghan said she was at a concert.

But she’s being accused of lying about it because she wasn’t photographed therefore she couldn't have been there? (I’m having a problem with that - it doesn’t seem logical - but moving on..)

And her fans are desperate for Meghan to be a friend of Taylor Swift?

So really this has nothing to do with Meghan, but has to do with her fans? This is an attack on her fans? Have I got that right?

AliceOlive · 17/08/2023 02:55

Was it Meghan saying she was at the concert? I did t think so. I read she was spotted there and jumped out her seat to dance.

It’s weird for it to be reported without pictures, but can’t see how it’s her fault.

Equally ludicrous to suggest Kate went to a concert because she heard Meghan was at a concert. 🤣

Morestrangerthings1 · 17/08/2023 06:43

Yes, I do agree that the idea that Kate went to a concert because Meghan went to one is also ridiculous

So much of this is.

I suspect that was probably Vera’s point. She’s very tongue in cheek about much of the stuff she posts. (The amount of times she makes me laugh reading her posts). That’s how I took it anyway. But I must admit I can’t be bothered reading back to find if my impression was accurate. I’ll just accept that it was. Lol.

Serenster · 17/08/2023 06:50

I think the fact that it was reported in People Magazine (well known for publishing puff pieces on behalf of celebrities) that has led to some speculation that it’s a planted story. Other people who spotted celebrities there posted shots and stories in twitter/til tok etc. They didn’t go to People.

AliceOlive · 17/08/2023 07:14

Got it, but NYPost wrote that it was an exclusive. They are usually hyper-critical so would be surprised if things are being planted with them but who knows.

themessygarden · 17/08/2023 07:22

If she really was there so incognito that no one recognised her, cue a selfie being 'released' at some point to prove it. It would be surprising if she wasn't there considering everyone and their mother was.

Samcro · 17/08/2023 07:58

im confused. is Meghan now in the wrong because she didn't get papped??

Serenster · 17/08/2023 08:03

She would be in the wrong (hypothetically of course, as we have no idea about the truth of this) if she had got a paper to report that she attended the Taylor Swift concert when she in fact had not.

Serenster · 17/08/2023 08:05

The rest of the fuss is essentially “Pics or it didn’t happen” (which is exactly the same thing Vera said of Kate attending the Houghton Hall rave earlier in the thread, so is a not just a standard applied to Meghan).

Samcro · 17/08/2023 08:09

so she can't go somewhere without people demanding a photo?

Morestrangerthings1 · 17/08/2023 08:26

Samcro · 17/08/2023 08:09

so she can't go somewhere without people demanding a photo?

Yep, but heaven forbid there is a photo because then she’s seeking attention by ringing paps herself.

Serenster · 17/08/2023 08:39

Samcro · 17/08/2023 08:09

so she can't go somewhere without people demanding a photo?

I think it’s more the disconnect between her apparently not being able to leave the house in her quiet, affluent home location (papped at the farmer’s market, a local restaurant, going to the dentist etc) but apparently not one single photographer, professional or just concert-goer with a camera, snapped her at one of the most heavily photographed events of the year. Despite apparently being seen and recognised by someone who tipped off the media, and even described what songs she was most enjoying. Last time she attended a concert she was snapped with Harry at the VIP entrance/exit, for example.

Samcro · 17/08/2023 10:48

so she gets photoed, thats wrong as she is lying.
she doesn't get photoed, thats wrong she' lying.
hmmm seems what ever she does she will be wrong, on a thread about Kate

Morestrangerthings1 · 17/08/2023 12:42

That’s the thing Samcro, on any thread on the RF board, no matter what the title, it all ends up here, ‘What Meghan did.’ If the RF are concerned about staying relevant, they certainly lost one of the best people they could ever have for the job. Anyone can what they want about Meghan, but she’s as relevant as they come.

AliceOlive · 17/08/2023 12:46

But you know, most of you complaining in this fashion (always, never) ignore any praise or support from posters like me who are both critical about aspects and positive about others. You seem to focus on the negative comments.

AliceOlive · 17/08/2023 12:47

And it’s often one of Meghan’s supporters bringing her into a topic about someone else. Isn’t that what happened here?

PrincessTigger · 17/08/2023 12:48

Samcro · 17/08/2023 10:48

It started because somebody (can’t remember who) who doesn’t like Kate said Kate only went to a festival because Meghan went to a concert.

LBFseBrom · 17/08/2023 12:58

As always, the tabloids make a big deal out of a perfectly ordinary occasion, like going to a music festival.

However, it does illustrate that the princess is not a stuffed shirt. I like her and Prince William very much but they do toe the party line and there is a danger they could appear to be 'stiff'.

MrsFinkelstein · 17/08/2023 13:18

@LBFseBrom I can certainly relate to the dancing and drinking margaritas. Not to the £700 tip to the staff, but as a mum to a son who works in hospitality I do appreciate it.

It does make her seem more "human", especially the fact she was photographed not looking particularly dressed up or glamorous (though she is now being criticised on SM for not wearing designer gear and having "flat feet").

MrsFinkelstein · 17/08/2023 13:22

I think as well that both William and she very much separate their private lives from their public duties and activities.
