The royal family

On the subject of Harry ... he's been dumped by Travalyst from the board of directors

I didn't think they could do thaat - surely, if he created it, he's in a "non-removable" position so to speak?

Though I'm no expert in how the thing's constituted so ready to be corrected here ...

polkadotdalmation · 02/08/2023 10:33

As a director of a tiny charity, it involves a huge amount of work. Harry doesn't like work according to Spotify, and only does an hour a week for Archwell. The 'statement' from Travalyst sounds just like the one initially issued by Spotify regarding the parting of ways with the Sussexes. 😂. They're hardly likely to say we've dumped the lazy sod are they?

Exactly. They haven't done it

The trouble is on these threads, posters make up wild and untrue stuff...next minute it's being quoted as fact. When it's not

I'd rather take the statement given out by Travalyst than nonsense posts by a MNer

polkadotdalmation · 02/08/2023 10:36

Not dumped from the company. I said dumped from the board of directors. A director needs to be involved in the running of a company. Harry would much rather private jet it around America for 'charity' polo matches. Takes up such a lot of his time going round after the match rattling the collection bucket. ...oh no, that what I do!

polkadotdalmation · 02/08/2023 10:37

He's been dumped (excluded) from the board of Travalyst. Statement of fact. Not some nonsense I've made up.

See Travalyst statement. He is in the same position as he was. His role has not changed in any way

I don't think you know better than the Board of the company 🙄

polkadotdalmation · 02/08/2023 10:40

He was a director. Fact. He's not a director any longer. Fact.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 02/08/2023 10:42

But even if they've launched a new board of directors without Harry, why bother removing his name rather than just leaving him on it?

He'd hardly be the first founder not to appear very much except for photocalls - the rest of the RF do it all the time - and I'd have thought the "name" would still be worth it to them?

Exactly. Sleeping directors have a place or boards.

And didn't the profits from Sussex Royal transfer over to Travalyst as a startup fund? Something really dodgy about that.

Actually theres nothing dodgy about it at all. One charity transferred funds to another. It happens all the time.

It's so weird that the same usernames who were posting every day (often many times every day) back in 2018 about how awful Harry and Meghan are, are still here, posting every day about how awful Harry and Meghan are.

That's a full five years of your life.

Samcro · 02/08/2023 11:21

Am I misreading it, or does that article really refer to the Walses as "bougie"? Does anyone at the Mirror know what bourgeoisie actually means? 😂

'bougie' is a term which means posh or with aspirations in the US... nothing to do with the bourgeoisie I don't think...

Paid for by the RF I bet. Otherwise what a waste of a life, to gleefully and constantly slag off people based on the tiniest detail or the most spurious of rumours.

William is usually grinning ear to ear and Harry looks like a bulldog chewing a wasp. 🤣

William looks very relaxed and happy these days.

Samcro · 02/08/2023 18:54

I would be grinning from ear to ear if I lived a life of luxury, doing very little and being applauded for it

Do the royal family pay people to slag off others? Who knew!
Where do I apply? Sounds like the ideal part-time job - I'm sure I could qualify. Does one get paid more if the insults are really good?

Living in a mansion in Montecito for instance?

MrsMaxDeWinter · 03/08/2023 09:58

Prince Harry remains the founder of Travalyst, and is mentioned twice on their "About" page, as the Founder and Patron, caps theirs.

It seems good corporate governance to not make your founder and patron a member of the board, particularly given the incredible growth of the initiative. It shows that this is not a one-man band.

But no doubt, the Travalyst people don't know as much about who is involved in their own company as random posters on Mumsnet!

Some gentle advice: Harry (and Meghan) are doing well, and will have their drawbacks and challenges. If you get joy from their failures, you may want to moderate expectations. They will have their losses, but they are will also have their gains.

They pay for it themselves.

As opposed to living in several palaces at the expense of everyone else and doing very little for it.

It's Tina's own choice of word. It jarred with me when I read it. Not sure why the book is being mined for fresh articles now, though. It's been out for more than a year.

Prince Harry's brutal take on the Middleton family's 'country bumpkin' life

bougie' is a term which means posh or with aspirations in the US... nothing to do with the bourgeoisie I don't think...

I think the snark really is meant to be that W&K were being very MC.

It's an insult thrown at the RF quite regularly. George V was sneered at for living in a "suburban villa" at Sandringham and buying all his furniture new from Maples or similar.

Jamtartforme · 06/08/2023 14:27

Sorry if this goes off on a tangent but what exactly is H&M’s expertise? They seem to be a Jack of all trades and a master of none, flitting between projects and ‘lite’ involvement before moving on to something else. Their charity seems to be a bit all over the place and directionless, as do their day to day activities and focus. Random phone calls, unrelated events, cancelled deals, constantly getting on board with this project or that project but nothing seems to come of them? I still don’t really know what Archewell does, and I’ve read quite a bit about it.

I remember reading when they were in the RF that they would come up with an idea over breakfast and expect it to be developed immediately, before losing interest and moving on to something else. It just seems like they want to do something but not sure what, or they don’t have the experience or knowledge to go beyond surface level involvement. Do tell me if that’s unfair, it’s just my perception.
