The royal family

What a non-story.

topnoddy · 23/07/2023 13:10

Every "story" that comes out about Harry makes me think he's a bigger twat than i though he was already , and that takes some doing !

dressedforcomfort · 23/07/2023 13:27

Man gets married, has kids and wants to spend time having quieter life with family and kids....

Wow, that's a shocker....

LakeTiticaca · 23/07/2023 13:28

Perhaps Harry is a little envious of Williams closeness to the Middleton family, where he can just be himself. It must be a pretty lonely life out in California with no family and very few friends

FloofCloud · 23/07/2023 13:37

MamoruHisaishi · 23/07/2023 11:57

I think I read somewhere that Harry called Kate Limpet behind her back, so I wouldn't be surprised if this claim was true.

Wow, what does he call his own wife then who can't seem
To let go of his hand/arm 😵‍💫

It must be true if you read it somewhere 🙄

FloofCloud · 23/07/2023 13:44

Isn't one of PH's favourite places Botswana / Chelsy's homeland? That's quite 'African countryside' too... hardly city slicker lifestyle

AsterixAndPersimmon · 23/07/2023 13:46

Quveas · 23/07/2023 11:22

So somebody told somebody who told somebody else this is true.

I have a 27 year old second hand car, one careful owner and 512 miles on the clock to sell....

😁😁😁😁
Good summary.

Well when you are destined to be the next king, you don’t have that as a choice.
Or you step down to live that quiet life.

  • Wow, what does he call his own wife then who can't seem To let go of his hand/arm 😵‍💫*

There it is...

Harry possibly acts like a twat. Ohhh let's not forget how awful Meghan is. She... she... she hand holds!!!!

MissAnneLister · 23/07/2023 13:49

What a gross, goady headline.

Putting "country bumpkin" in quotes implies that it was Harry who referred to the Middletons as "country bumpkins." When that is a quote from Tina Brown, who has a long history of exploiting the royals to make money, and of being extremely snobbish and anti-Middleton.

Tina Brown is just using Harry as a way of expressing her own feelings about Kate and her family, and basically using Harry as a get out of jail free card to call Kate's family "bourgeois country bumpkins."

Tina Brown tears strips off the Middletons in this article. The language she uses is not acceptable at all, and it's clearly her choice of language, nothing to do with Harry. Harry isn't even quoted in the article!

All the article says about Harry is that Harry missed his close relationship with his brother once his brother married and had kids (pretty normal and something lots of close siblings experience when one gets married) and that countryside life bored Harry (again normal and not negative towards Harry).

All the country bumpkin, bourgeois stuff, that's 100% Tina.

Such a weird comment.

He lives with his wife, MIL and their two kids. That is his family. We have no idea who his friends or what British friends he's still close to since they clearly both prioritise loyalty and discretion (Meghan's had the same tight group of friends for decades, because they are discreet.) The "friends" selling Harry out to the press and badmouthing him publicly for dumping them were clearly never real friends in the first place.

MN is full of threads from people talking about how to protect their family and family time from boundary-ignoring extended relatives. On Mumsnet, in any other context, your "family" would usually be defined as your spouse and your children.

It's extremely weird how when it comes to the BRF, your brother's wife and your grandmother are considered your family, but not your own spouse and children. That would never happen in any other context.

gogomoto · 23/07/2023 14:00

@topnoddy

My thoughts too.

Unfortunately I think he's heading for a big downfall, I just hope he can get the privacy he'll need to recover from it

Well when you are destined to be the next king, you don’t have that as a choice.
Or you step down to live that quiet life.

So maybe while his grandmother was still alive, and knowing there was his father’s reign still to come as well, he took advantage of being able to have some quieter times with his wife and children while he could? Just a thought.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/07/2023 14:07

Based on his shitty behaviour and his claims that don't hold up to the truth either, I wouldn't be so quick to defend him

Neither would I, MamoruHisaishi - in fact it's got to the point where I'd check if he said it was raining - but equally I wouldn't assume an account is true just because someone's said something to someone else

Quveas · 23/07/2023 14:09

MamoruHisaishi · 23/07/2023 12:28

No need to get upset because someone wrote something unflattering about harry. Based on his shitty behaviour and his claims that don't hold up to the truth either, I wouldn't be so quick to defend him.

I am not defending him. I would happily consign the rest of the royal family to exile too. I am commenting on the deranged assertions of fact based on nothing more than "somebody said" or "I think I read something somewhere".

skullbabe · 23/07/2023 15:01

Ffs - she’s from Zimbabwe and are you serious about Africa just being countryside? Are you aware of the - hmm let me check - city that she lives and went to school in? Bulawayo? That well known countryside village ?🤣 Omg - look please look things up before you do things like this.

DojaPhat · 23/07/2023 15:07

@MissAnneLister It makes a lot more sense when you understand that the ire is really because Harry chose 2 things: 1) To not marry a Kate 2.0, and 2) The woman he chose has a Black parent.

Tis unfortunate but this this is nothing new and it probably burns a bit more because Meghan is now ostensibly 'royal'. Many people, will really never get over this.

skullbabe · 23/07/2023 15:08

Just read the article - not a single quote from Harry in it. Thanks @MissAnneLister for the context of Tina Brown’s previous stances.

I think this.

Thelonelygiraffe · 23/07/2023 15:39

How do we know that Harry or William said or felt any of this? It's all hearsay, by an author I've never heard of, and have no idea of her connection - if any - to the RF. nonsense.

Thelonelygiraffe · 23/07/2023 15:41

EllaMenopee · 23/07/2023 11:28

Am I misreading it, or does that article really refer to the Walses as "bougie"? Does anyone at the Mirror know what bourgeoisie actually means? 😂

Bougie is not the same as bourgeoisie. Means anything from cute to Insta-worthy and classy.

Nightlystroll · 23/07/2023 16:28

But didn't Harry already say a similar thing to this in his book? That after William and Kate formed a unit, he felt a bit cast adrift and he wanted a wife and family to fill that hole. He had a whole picture in his head how the two couples would function together. That's what made his disappointment greater when he felt that William and Kate weren't behaving like he'd expected them to.

Yes I was going to say I'd read excerpts that said similar.

Not the "boring Middletons" stuff but the stuff about the change in the relationship between William and Harry after William married Kate.

FloofCloud · 23/07/2023 17:04

I always through the three of them had a good relationship, the dynamics would certainly have changed once W&K married abs settled down, but it seemed to work. It also started out seemingly well with the addition of MM but that quickly went south
