The video footage I’m referring to is before the unveiling…..as they walk into the garden and their aunts and uncle are already there waiting for them.

Yes, that's the bit I'm referring to

Milcar · 23/06/2023 18:43

I tried to click on your link but it is an image with no link.

So he was sacked, and his show is not now available?

And after he was sacked his previous show was not cancelled immediately? But as people pointed out the issue it was removed?

Were there other offensive comments on Archie's appearance on mainstream media? I might easily have missed them, but it is important in how I come to my conclusions about the situation and posters here.

So I would like to know exactly what you are saying

Gilmorehill · 23/06/2023 18:43

Milcar · 23/06/2023 18:11

When I think of the absolutely vile criticism levelled at Archie's appearance when he was younger (I won't repeat it, but it was bad)

There was the appalling, racist connection with a monkey, and the person doing that was rightly sacked.

I am not aware of any other criticism of his appearance? But I don't follow in detail so please let me know of other criticism - you can link or just give Google-able details if you don't want to post here to things that are offensive, let's face it, we don't want to perpetuate the comments, but I would like to know where they came from, and whether it was a supposedly 'reputable' source

I can’t recall anything either. The public barely know what he looks like anyway, other than he got his dad’s red hair.

Gracewithoutend · 23/06/2023 18:45

smilesy · 23/06/2023 18:40

You said he was re hired. That’s not the same as leaving old content on BBC sounds

I mean really, @MarcelProust wasn't it you who said..

Media literacy It’s really not hard to verify information from additional, reliable sources before accepting everything we read and hear.

It’s utterly disgraceful that this misinformation was allowed to spread, but not surprising. Just more of the same Anti Harry and Meghan propaganda

I guess for you it's just anti Anti Harry and Meghan propaganda, though. 😄

Roussette · 23/06/2023 18:45

Milcar · 23/06/2023 18:37

And a link to anyone else commenting on Archie's appearance on a mainstream channel?

I never said that.
It was on MN and awful. A lot of taking the p**s about him, when Meghan read to him and he was about one

Milcar · 23/06/2023 18:46

Danny Baker's comment was widely reported and criticised at the time. It was appalling. I am not aware of any other similar comments. No doubt there were on the extremist fringes of SM, which is completely wrong.

Milcar · 23/06/2023 18:52

Roussette · 23/06/2023 18:45

Presumably MN deleted it, so we will never know what was said, and how widespread it was?

There will always be extremists. Implying the extremist attitude is widespread - without any supporting evidence - doesn't seem very credible.

So, was Danny Baker's offensive comment typical of public opinion? It doesn't seem so. and despite the claim, he hasn't been re-hired, and his content has since been remived from the BBC iplayer

SaxSick · 23/06/2023 18:52

Ninaplant · 23/06/2023 18:36

Hmmm…ok.
I don’t recall seeing that part live at the time, on UK TV. I guess there’s no way to prove you’re referring to the same clip without posting it. Best to leave the discussion here, I think.

I need to prove that the clip I am watching is real because you "don't recall" 😂 Come on now you know that it is out there with a simple Google.

Milcar · 23/06/2023 18:57

I am comig to the conclusion that for some people it is not about looking at the available evidence, it is fitting available evidence to pre-existing opinions

Ninaplant · 23/06/2023 18:58

Roussette · 23/06/2023 18:09

8I have a book that shows some of the most famous photographs before and after editing and how the content is changed to the viewer*

Agree on a photograph. This wasn't. It was footage that lasted quite a while and obvious the warmth there. Unless of course you're looking for something different.

Don’t you wish people would show the same grace and courtesy to Harry and Meghan, as they do to the rest of the RF when studying their every move? Even their private thoughts and intentions are discussed as facts! There’s never any benefit of the doubt but there will be the longest word salad and moving of goalposts to explain away anything remotely positive about the couple. I’m not talking about anyone specifically, it’s just a general observation that I’ve made when people think they are giving a rational explanation as to why they dislike the couple so vehemently.

It’s interesting to watch the power of long term exposure to propaganda in real time.

Milcar · 23/06/2023 19:03

You claim I am responding to 'propaganda'.

You know H&M have a PR team?

Maybe I take the RF PR/propaganda and Harry and Meghan's PR/propaganda in the same spirit?

SoTedious · 23/06/2023 19:03

it is fitting available evidence to pre-existing opinions

Or indeed fitting completely made-up "evidence" to pre-existing opinions.

I agree about extendig grace and courtesy - the the RF as well as H&M

As you are quoting me - Hang on I have not discussed the private thoughts and intentions of H and M here . I merely said what I saw in a video as you did.

Never said any such thing.

Yeah, no. I'm sorry. It was @Ninaplant .

MarcelProust · 23/06/2023 19:17

There was a huge furore about Danny Baker when a few months after his sacking he reappeared on BBC podcasts. Maybe the reason why they had to server ties with him in the end.

Yes, there were a few extreme people like that UKIP leader girlfriend who said things about Meghan as well as headlines along the lines of tying Meghan to gangsters etc.

Meghan Markle - Duchess of Dior?
Gracewithoutend · 23/06/2023 19:21

@MarcelProust
I assigned a quote to you and got it wrong. I apologised.

You said.
And that person was hired back a few months later.
Baker was never hired back. Why can't you just admit you got it wrong?

Everyone does it occasionally.

There’s no need for the mocking tone, you have clearly misunderstood.
Of course the clip you watched is real! Why would I dispute that?! I think like a historian. Obviously there were multiple camera crews and various tv networks etc with different footage being transmitted across the globe. It goes without saying that there is the possibility we are watching different footage. It’s hard to discuss something without knowing for sure that we are talking about the exact same clip. Google isn’t going to tell me which footage you are watching.

Anyway, it’s no big deal. There’s no need to discuss any further.
