8I have a book that shows some of the most famous photographs before and after editing and how the content is changed to the viewer*

Agree on a photograph. This wasn't. It was footage that lasted quite a while and obvious the warmth there. Unless of course you're looking for something different.

I've actually just watched it again - the long version - and my impression isn't that of a heartwarming moment. Everyone will have a different reaction to it and to think otherwise is a bit odd. I wouldn't expect everyone to see in it what I do - why would I? I actually saw H as very very awkward , shuffling and moving towards people as well as joking and cupping his ear at one point. One aunt speaks to him and stands close while the other doesn't come close. One aunt comes and speaks to W after the unveiling and stands very close to W. H shuffles towards her. That's just my impression though - we all see things in different ways.

Milcar · 23/06/2023 18:18

That's the thing - we interpret what we see in light of our beliefs

There was the appalling, racist connection with a monkey, and the person doing that was rightly sacked.

And that person was hired back a few months later.

Are you talking about Danny Baker? If so, when was he re hired and by whom? The BBC fired him and have certainly not re hired him

Milcar · 23/06/2023 18:27

I assumed it was Danny Baker, and accepted @MarcelProust 's claim that he was re hired

The video footage I’m referring to is before the unveiling…..as they walk into the garden and their aunts and uncle are already there waiting for them.

SoTedious · 23/06/2023 18:29

Netflix brought it out when the British media lied about what took place and what Diana said.

Really? By "brought it out" you mean that they bought repeat transmissions of a documentary that had already been made and broadcast by someone else a few years earlier? And you think they bought it because the British media lied about what was in a documentary that had already been out in the UK? This is not making sense to me.

You don't think there is just a tiny possibility that Netflix bought it to trail and cross promote Season 4 of the Crown? To maximise the revenue from their dramatisation of Diana's marital problems, affair with James Hewitt and all that... I still find it hard to believe that Harry signed up with them.

Yes I know - that's what I said. I watched all of it and I clearly saw that bit too. I actually said so above in my post.

There’s no point in comparing really if the video can’t be posted here. You can hear another camera man say very clearly, keep it on William. This footage is from international media who were also present that day. I think from the States.

SaxSick · 23/06/2023 18:31

Danny Baker does his own podcasts on his own site.

I've asked the same. No response yet. I wonder what the BBC did with him as his presence there is so invisible? Stuck him in the boiler room or maybe in a Treehouse! 😉

No I wouldn't agree with that. Posting the video here doesn't make it a different video from the one posted anywhere else. :-) There was single footage of William and single of Harry. The majority was of the both of them.

It is worrying that posters here will make things up. Perhaps @MarcelProust misunderstood? Or was talking about someone else? There could have been more than one person referring to Archie? I didn't hear of anyone else but don't follow it

BBC Sounds, that's who.

Put him in the background where most would not notice. Still BBC.

No. His show appears on BBC sounds because it existed, but if you look there are no episodes available

Milcar · 23/06/2023 18:36

I have just done a search on Danny Baker on bbc sounds but nothing coming up? can you give a link?

Hmmm…ok.
I don’t recall seeing that part live at the time, on UK TV. I guess there’s no way to prove you’re referring to the same clip without posting it. Best to leave the discussion here, I think.

Milcar · 23/06/2023 18:37

And a link to anyone else commenting on Archie's appearance on a mainstream channel?

Not now, because people complained so much.

He was there, a few months after the offending photo.

Meghan Markle - Duchess of Dior?

You said he was re hired. That’s not the same as leaving old content on BBC sounds

From what I can tell, he is not employed by anyone. He was sacked in 2019, and has since made podcasts

Thars not true. He was never taken back by the BBC. He's been doing podcasts which are pay per view.
