BBC link: Public asked to swear allegiance to King Charles

Apparently during the coronation service, we'll all being asked to swear "true allegiance" to Charles and his heirs.

That's a no from me.

The new photos were taken in the Blue Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace

Coronation: Public asked to swear allegiance to King Charles

The pledge is among several changes to the service, which will incorporate female clergy and other faiths.

WinterCarlisle · 30/04/2023 03:09

Like fuck will I!!!!

Won’t be watching anyway

MoChridhe · 30/04/2023 03:13

I'd rather swear to a box of Tampax

EllandRd · 30/04/2023 03:13

I hope this is an error, allegiance to a weak man and a queen who we were promised would never be queen - I think definitely not.
I’ve always wanted this country to have a monarchy but not now it’s a joke.

But you either believe in “monarchy” or not. That’s the whole point of a hereditary title -you don’t get to pick and choose the monarch. You get what you’re given. So you either believe in it as an institution or you don’t. It’s not a popularity contest, or a meritocracy. It’s a monarchy.

LadyJ2023 · 30/04/2023 03:30

No for me and my family.

MsRosley · 30/04/2023 03:41

I'm just stunned they'd even ask.

eldersis · 30/04/2023 03:51

No WAY.

Swearing devotion to a person group or cause is SO outrageous in this day and age.it just goes to show HOW out of touch charlie boy is.
One the one hand, he is advised by sycophants on the other he follows his own extremeist views.

Queen Elizabeth was adored because she did NOTHING. Never complain never explain. The only time she didnt whas when the British people were DISGUSTED at her NON reaction to Dianas death and she EVENTUALLY gave in.

I am Glad Charles is with Camilla BUT he should have had the Balls DECADES ago.

Harry should NOT have been invited AT ALL,

Prediction ! VERY worried for Harry. Megan markle is toxic and will ditch him very soon

You will be in the Abby? It’s very clear it’s only those in the abby, or did you not proper read it and rush to post a thread,…cringe central. 😂

Maybe read the article again?

It's very clear that the expectation is that a 'chorus of millions' swearing allegiance is anticipated, thanks to the wonders of modern technology. The idea is that people will swear allegiance while sitting watching the coronation on the 'telly'.

Three words:

The Glorious Revolution.

Topseyt123 · 30/04/2023 04:21

I'll probably be watching out of mild interest but I will not swear allegiance. What a stupid and out of date thing to add to the service!!

JulieHoney · 30/04/2023 04:49

Will I fuck.

littleblackcat27 · 30/04/2023 04:56

I might be watching as I like all the pomp and ceremony and the ridiculous commentary.

But no - I won't be swearing allegiance.

littleblackcat27 · 30/04/2023 04:58

Plus (as an aside) I'm really looking forward to watching Frankie Boyle this Sunday night, as he will rip the piss out of the whole thing.

HaroldTheStallion · 30/04/2023 05:54

Absolutely not and ridiculous that he would even ask this. It reeks of desperation and will I think have the opposite effect on people than what he is hoping for - I find it very off-putting and I suspect many others will also.

pompomdaisy · 30/04/2023 05:58

I will be in the campervan and won't be watching

Coffeeandbourbons · 30/04/2023 06:10

Absolutely not.

user1498572889 · 30/04/2023 06:14

There is no way I would swear allegiance to a man who could not even keep his marriage vows.

awakeeveeynight · 30/04/2023 06:25

Ahahahaha! No

@PolkaDotMankini

no . Despite the history Charles calling Camila the queen not queen consort really upset me.

i know in history that has been done ( ie the kings wife is a queen) but QE2 was unique and she will always be the queen.

he just should know better and that’s the worry.

What a strange thing to be upset about.

SuspiciousDuck · 30/04/2023 06:41

No. The RF can fuck off. Let’s all grow up and get rid.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 30/04/2023 07:42

No

Inkanta · 30/04/2023 08:05

chipsarnie · 30/04/2023 00:17

Hell no.

No gods. No masters.

Bring the republic.

Agree!
This swearing allegiance gives me a creepy heartsink. Are we in a cult

Roussette · 30/04/2023 08:12

I'd rather plant 1,000 cockroach eggs in my earhole than swear allegiance to some bloke who considers himself a King over us mere mortals

polkadotdalmation · 30/04/2023 08:18

No, and I support the royal family! Bloody bonkers!
