It doesn't really matter what she died of. She was extremely old. The difference between her and the majority of other people who live that long is that they wouldn't bother giving over the resources to test and diagnose regular people who would then be considered to have died of old age when infact, we always die of something specific, whatever our age.

Yes, but the something specific will be a symptom which might have been caused by several conditions.

The great thing about MN is that we are all anonymous, so I’m going to choose to believe that your situation is completely comparable… 😁

It isn't, obviously, but, however famous you are - if you're going to put your photos on a national stage, at least hold the camera straight!

Reeks of the lazy, can't be arsed attitude so typical of the present senior royals.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 21/04/2023 17:19

I think it's a lovely family photograph. Similar to what many households would do if great granny came on a family trip with a troupe of grand and great grand children.

One thing that oddly came into my mind is looking at the kids just as a group of children, their actual order in line to the crown would look really odd if someone pointed it out. Like imagine you had no idea of the line of succession or who was whos kid, and someone said "guess what order they go in".

I didn't know QE had bone cancer?

I love the photo.

Gyles Brandreth has revealed it in a new biography of Queen Elizabeth ll. He is reliable, a friend of the late Duke of Edinburgh.

I'm sure she was well cared for and adequate pain relief given. Let's not forget the Queen was still active until not that long before she died. She was an amazing woman.

I too like the photograph, it's charming.

He did not say bone cancer though.

He said "bone marrow cancer" ie myeloma (a type of blood cancer)

Louise is a young Queen Mary

@PussBilledDuckyPlait "Reeks of the lazy, can't be arsed attitude so typical of the present senior royals."

What an unpleasant (and untrue) remark.

AH, so that’s what it’s all about.

You need to be careful of your health. Going around with that amount of bile inside you isn’t good for you.

LBFseBrom · 21/04/2023 17:33

TheCrystalPalace · 21/04/2023 15:14

But OK, I'm going to go there.
I wonder what Harry and Meghan feel when they see a shot like this. Do they shrug, feel further relief they're not part of it all and move on with their day? Do they feel regret as, under different circumstances, their own children might have been in the pic with their great-grandmother? Or might they feel as if it's a deliberate ploy to accentuate the ones who are missing? Which of course would include Beatrice & Eugenie's children.

No doubt there are other photos of the Queen with Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. She adored them, they just weren't there on that particular day.

I very much doubt the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be concerned in any way about the photograph.

Bovrilla · 21/04/2023 17:33

It looks exactly like the sort of photos my parents shoved us all into for photos with my grandmas.

Gather round the sofa, "look at the camera kids", shove snacks in the wriggly baby. Background of family photos. Nobody looks amazing but that's not the point. It's a moment in family time captured.

@PussBilledDuckyPlait "Reeks of the lazy, can't be arsed attitude so typical of the present senior royals."

What an unpleasant (and untrue) remark.

It's justifiably unpleasant because it's true - Kate, for example, attended just 90 engagements in 2022. Bear in mind that an 'engagement' can last as little as an hour.

There might be some excuse for a busy, working mum to punt out poor quality photos like this, but she has all the time in the world.

Can't people see that, while they fawn over things like this, the Royals are laughing at us all?

LlynTegid · 21/04/2023 17:38

I hope all the children have fond memories of the late Queen.

Maireas · 21/04/2023 17:43

Louise is a young Queen Mary

Isn't she! I was thinking the same.

TheCrystalPalace · 21/04/2023 17:44

It's not "justifiably unpleasant" at all. It's vile and unnecessary.

lyingonthebeach · 21/04/2023 17:44

That's a lovely photo.

I still miss our wonderful Queen. She was a feminist icon and an inspirational leader.

If people are missing from the photo, that's because their parents declined invitations.

moonspiral · 21/04/2023 17:45

Aw lovely

Maireas · 21/04/2023 17:49

It's a great photo, so relaxed and happy and it's no mean feat to wrangle kids for a group photo, some of whom are very young!

EdithWeston · 21/04/2023 17:50

The Newsweek article about this says that it relies on

"data compiled by Reboot spanned January to December 2022, though it isn't known exactly how entries from the court circular were collated or what was included"

I've tried to check this by looking at the Court Circular website, but its search function isn't working properly right now

TheCrystalPalace · 21/04/2023 17:44

It's not "justifiably unpleasant" at all. It's vile and unnecessary.

While the Royals are funded by taxpayers money, it is perfectly justified for taxpayers to call out the ones who have a lazy, can't be arsed attitude.

If you think calling someone 'lazy and can't be arsed' is 'vile' I'd hate to see your reaction to any genuinely vile statements.

I think Edward looks like King George VI

Vitriolinsanity · 21/04/2023 17:53

"It isn't, obviously, but, however famous you are - if you're going to put your photos on a national stage, at least hold the camera straight!"

Or maybe your perspective is skewed Grin

Maireas · 21/04/2023 17:54

TrashyPanda · 21/04/2023 17:52

I think Edward looks like King George VI

Yes, I can see that similarity.

Maireas · 21/04/2023 17:55

@Vitriolinsanity yes, the angle looks perfectly straight to me.

BadNomad · 21/04/2023 17:59

Unless one end of the couch is taller than the other, that photo isn't straight.

pickledandpuzzled · 21/04/2023 18:02

I would think the various jubilee and funeral arrangements will have taken a significant chunk of time.
