Yes, but I wouldn't "release" my casual and not very good family snapshots with a fanfare to national news agencies.

Well as you are not the monarch or the Princess of Wales no one would be interested, as this is a picture of the late Queen taken by Kate on what would have been the Queen’s 97th birthday there will be people who will be very interested and pleased to see it.

Sudeko · 21/04/2023 15:56

Very true. The absence of Harry's children will be very conspicuous in that respect. I think that they will suddenly appear together after a decade when Charles is older and frailer and everyone will pin their hopes on a great reconciliation but it will not grow legs.

Roussette · 21/04/2023 15:55

So am I.

But my 'it' may well be different to yours 😂

Won't know until you say 😃

Roussette · 21/04/2023 15:58

I find it very very wrong to talk of the Queen having bone cancer on this thread when it's not been officially confirmed that is so. That has come from a 'royal biographer'
She was shaking hands and smiling the day before she died (I hasten to add who knows what pain she was in) but having nursed my DM through a terrible terrible cancer when she was bed ridden for months beforehand, I find it crass.

Can't say 'cos it will open the floodgates!

Roussette · 21/04/2023 16:00

Ooops... you've spoken of my 'it'

Sigh

orangedalmatian · 21/04/2023 16:00

@nether I heard bone cancer but myeloma does cause areas of bone to be eaten away. I've seen a skull X-ray that looks like a colander with giant holes in it. If it's myeloma she could have been living with it for some time as there are treatments. It'll come out one day.

Theunamedcat · 21/04/2023 16:00

Why are people criticising the photo its fine? A relaxed informal grouping of children and granny

wordler · 21/04/2023 16:01

I love those 'through the years' photos even when they are complete strangers - I always get sucked into those stories online when some siblings have recreated the same photos for x number of years.

I think that's one of the appeal for me of the royal photos - you can track time and trends with them.

Forty Portraits in Forty Years (Published 2014)

The Brown sisters have been photographed every year since 1975. The latest image in the series is published here for the first time.

My father's cancer had spread to his bones and there is no way he could have been out of bed, upright, dressed and photographed for well over a month before his death.
So I agree with @Roussette that bone cancer seems unlikely but we just don't know.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 21/04/2023 16:04

Even if there was a photo withAugust and Sienna in it I’m not sure it would have been published - Beatrice seems to have decided on not having her in any released photos.

it’ll be a difficult one to keep up because of the press, but if that’s what she’s chosen hopefully she succeeds for as long as possible

bibbitybobbityyhat · 21/04/2023 16:08

Thanks @TheCrystalPalace and @wordler. So, in other words all of Anne's grandchildren.

TheCrystalPalace · 21/04/2023 16:08

I think if parents decide it, news organisations have to pixellate or blur faces, don't they?
Or else get fined?

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 21/04/2023 15:45

He is.

He's now Earl of Wessex, not duke.

Roussette · 21/04/2023 16:10

Has this photo just been released?

neilyoungismyhero · 21/04/2023 16:11

Don't think it would have been too much to ask the Queen crack a smile would it?

This photo would likely have been taken a few weeks before she died. Perhaps she was in pain?

Yes. In honour of the late Queen’s birthday pictured with great-grandchildren as royals mark her 97th birthday www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-65350728 See here

No one does know this for sure. Speculation

Ah. Thats lovely. I'm so saddened that after such a long reign she had to die such a painful death. Bone cancer is just hideous.

Is that what the late Queen died of?

How sad. She’s someone I miss very much.

smilesy · 21/04/2023 16:20

That is not official. A royal biographer said so and we know how they like to act that they know everything.
When they don't.

I think the speculation of this is very crass.

Roussette · 21/04/2023 16:21

smilesy · 21/04/2023 16:20

Ahhh ok, it's to mark her birthday, that makes more sense.

I thought it was a build up to the Coronation

Poppins2016 · 21/04/2023 15:10

Looks like it! I thought the same, it's a lovely moment of 'ordinariness' 😁

I loved the earlier picture where Mia Tindall (I think it was) was holding the Queens handbag.
