I was shocked to see photos of Prince Edward in Edinburgh. He has lost a lot of weight. Hope he is okay. Or maybe he had covid badly?

And everyone on here comments on appearance of the Royal Family. You all say how beautiful Kate looks for example.
Its like some ancient cult where we are supposed to pretend the Royal Family never get ill.

No we don't.

The plumper you are the younger you look, puffs out the wrinkles!

Yes, ‘there’s no wrinkles in a balloon’!

DessertsForAll · 13/03/2023 01:18

@janefondofu Are you always so delightful?

I think that’s just an unflattering photo. I’ve just seen some video footage of him at the same event and he looks to be in rude health.

DessertsForAll · 13/03/2023 01:41

I watched the video too and I think he seems quite excitable, but looks thin.

I thought the same on the weekend when I read the announcement he was to become Duke of E. Then later in the article it said the Queen bestowed it on him or was going to, and it made out the new King waited until now for some reason.

Perhaps that reason is he was ill and they were keeping the spotlight off of him..? Who knows, but I do agree with you.

The announcement on his wedding day stated he’d be DoE when the title reverted to the Crown - so after his brother became King.

The Queen couldn’t give it to him because when Philip died it was inherited by Charles. It was only free to be recreated when he became king.

You've had some extraordinary responses here, OP.

Some real nastiness. Some very strange assertions of what's polite and what's not.

There are long standing ongoing threads whose only theme is the appearance of members of the British and other royal families.

mathanxiety · 13/03/2023 03:26

There was one very recently on the appearance of Katie Price..

You are totally right,
Nailed on the head,

Or perhaps he acknowledges he is getting old, and the lost of his parents in quick succession has made him more aware of his own mortality and is just looking after himself. It would be easy to lose that weight of you tried with good diet and exercise when you have a team of people. He's probably not tempted by a burger and chips on the way home from work because he can't be bothered to cook.

OctopusComplex · 13/03/2023 05:39

I think he looks absolutely awful, but I'm sure it won't make him feel any better to know it's been noticed.

Was just thinking how shit I feel if someone says "gosh, you look tired".. I know he won't see this, but seriously, why would you say this out loud?

I really hope, for him and his family, that it's a passing phase, and he rallies soon. Not because he's royal, but because he looks as if he needs good wishes.

The Duke of Kent is 87. Many people lose weight when they get much older. Edward is only 59 FGS. He is not an old man.

No idea why you're being so snarky. He's almost 60, he looks very similar to many of the men in his family.
I'm sure you're hoping there'll be a nice juicy story about the man's health for you to slaver over.
Just don't get pissy with normal people pointing out a) it's rather unpleasant to thinly speculate about somebody's health the way you have b) he's thin. He's never been fat. Nothing to see, move on to your next "ooooh have you seen" crap.

And she's started one of them.

No we don't.

We really don't. We comment on the obsessive loons who spend all day and night excitedly posting the latest "ooooooh I say" though.

MiddleParking · 13/03/2023 06:10

If you think anyone you’re chatting to about the weights of various royal family members on an internet forum might ‘work for the palace’ you need to see your GP.

This in spades.
OP give it a rest.

Coxspurplepippin · 13/03/2023 07:26

The 'weird' responses (or, perhaps the responses that recognise what the OP is about) follow on from the op's repeated comments about the supposed ill health of someone she doesn't know, from a photograph.

Fine to post a comment along the lines of 'I don't think Edward looks very well', but to start a thread and repeatedly suggest an illness with the head tilty follow up 'oooh, I hope he's better soon', 'I hope he's OK', 'hopefully by Christmas he will look healthy again', ad nauseam - bit odd.

Speaking of Dr Who, OP seems to be channeling the episode where David Tennant when he whispers to someone that Harriet Jones, 'Prime Minister' Grin, looks tired in a successful attempt to spread a rumour about her health.
