No! Why do people think that a) she jas been given Princess as a Baptismal name and b) even if she had that a Baptismal name is in any way official?

She has been Christened Lillibet Diana and they announced this using her title. Princess Lillibet Diana has been Christened. Same as it was announced Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana has been Christened.

I still don't understand why the posters who support the monarchy spend so much more time discussing those who left than they do discussing those who remained!

I hope I’m wrong but their kids are going to be so fucked up when they’re older. I can’t imagine how you’d navigate your identity of being royalty while living in California. How would you be expected to act? I hope Harry and Meghan are formulating a plan. How would a 16 year old deal with this? Maybe shrooms are the answer?

All of his grandchildren, as he only have sons, became automatically entitled to HRH Prince/Princess as soon as he became King.

This means H & M have carefully chosen the timing of the announcement. H could have included this conversation in Spare along with the other disclosures about conversations held after the funeral.

I always thought the Oprah interview was about the letters patent prior to Prince George’s birth that meant all the POW’s children became Prince or Princess rather than just the first born. Harry assumed the same would be done for his children and was told no they will get it in the usual way i.e. when the become the monarchs grandchildren.

Lilibet because a Princess the moment Charles became King. Because she and her brother, now a Prince, became grandchildren of the monarch who are entitled to the style and address of Prince and Princess according to the relevant letters patent.

The only issues about the titles were whether Charles would issue new letters patent to revoke them, and if not, whether the parents would choose to use them.

They have obviously chosen to use them.

If Charles does not want them to have them, he will have to go to the trouble of issuing new letters patent revoking them. Even he is not stupid or petty enough to do that, especially after the Frogmore "eviction" backfired so badly on him.

Great post. Thanks for highlighting that the Queen had already gone the extra mile for William's kids, and Harry and Meghan may have wondered why not for him too.

I believe that they thought the Letters Patent would be updated for their children too, as they were for C and L. It was a kind and thoughtful gesture to "equalise" all William's children and give them the same rank as George. I would have thought Harry in particular would have understood this because it is precisely the heir and spare nonsense that he suffered from as a kid.

But to be fair to them, to not only find out that this was not going to happen, but that the existing LP applying to their kids would actually be amended to "unprince" them must have rankled, and convinced Harry that his children were "lesser'!

As it is, they have played a tactical move. I have a feeling Charles wanted to issue LPs to remove the titles, but they have put him in a position where he can't do that, after Frogmore. At the same time, this is a very bullish action indicating they are very much part of the monarchy, in or out. And you can expect them to come to the Coronation😅

I think it did backfire because it was a mistake to link it to Andrew and to William's desire for a bigger house on top of his 5 existing houses. We soon saw reports of "olive branches" being offered. Even the gung-ho propagandists like Piers expressed misgivings, because it was handled so badly.

They announced it because of Lillibet's christening held a few days ago.

The more I hear about this the more I respect Princess Anne for not wanting her children to be HRH or Princesses/Princes. Wanting this for their dc will only add the confusion and muddled identity of the Sussex children.

Some people are labouring under the foolish misapprehension that it is a name given at Baptism rather than her title. Those people are wrong. And being very silly.

I think it’s ridiculous and really lowers the Royal Family brand. Now we have prince and princess in America, LA really?

Why didn’t he mention it in his book or the recent round of interviews he has done, especially when they made such a fuss about the children not having titles?

Meanwhile Kate dressed as an army officer and got no attention as usual. The royal family were very stupid to let H&M jump ship.

Today’s newspapers - Kate is on the front of six of them. Not sure what you consider “no attention” looks like, but that looks a lot like attention to me even if the Sussexes put out a story that they would absolutely know would cause a lot of comment (both positive and negative) on the same day.

Honestly? The "Royal Family" brand was lowered forever when a phone call between the current King and Queen was released in which one wanted to live forever as a tampon inside the other.

After that it could only go up!!

I suspect the 'olive branches' will be in short supply once William is in charge - a Queen Margrethe style title-culling will undoubtedly be on the cards 😁
