What's the big deal about Fogmore Cottage?

They are rarely in the UK. It would just sitting there empty. It makes no sense. Also, if Harry and Meghan need a home in Britain, why not buy a home?

I don't believe Harry and his wife were evicted at all. That is the media and I don't believe it at all. I think Charles contacted Harry and explained things and they are OK with leaving the cottage. I mean, they are rarely in the UK. So why not leave it, if his father needs for whatever reason?

Omid Scobie, minion of Megan, said they were evicted and they wanted to keep it as it was only ‘safe’ place they had 🙄

It is not going to Andrew. Apparently Eugenie is moving in and recently visit hart and Megan in CA and brought some of H&M s things to them. I am US-based and the article made it sound very amicable.

StartupRepair · 08/03/2023 02:35

I imagine that Charles is concerned that wherever they stay they will be filming for future Netflix content. They used footage of private areas in their last doco and included descriptions of interior layouts etc in Spare.

No one outside of their circle knows exactly what happened or why. I think if you had spent a reported 2.4 million pounds on renovations for a house, you wouldn't exactly be thrilled at being asked to leave but perhaps arrangements are being made to repay them some of the money. The timing is certainly interesting as apparently they were asked to leave soon after Harry's book was released but that could just be co-incidence as obviously Charles is making a lot of changes before his coronation.

SkyandSurf · 08/03/2023 02:51

I can't imagine how pathetic I would feel to be a grown able bodied adult who needed their brother or father to provide them with housing.

No Eugenie was living there but moved out sometime ago. Her family are living in Portugal? Europe anywhere but were supposedly looking at properties in the US too so it doesn't sound like they'll be going back to it

It's been widely reported that Andrew is being 'downsized' now that Charles has cut his income

Redglitter · 08/03/2023 02:55

Ofcourse 'sources' could say anything I guess time will tell 😊

They didn’t pay 2.4 million. Read the quote above about what they paid for. Posh fixtures and fittings, an undisclosed amount, which also included rent. Considering how much money Charles gave them, it is likely Charles paid for the fixtures and fittings in a round about way.

blisstwins · 08/03/2023 06:07

American sources are saying eugenienhad stayed there before but it will now be her UL base and also that H&M were told of this before spare and were also offered a private apartment in buckingham palace.

lollipoprainbow · 08/03/2023 06:50

Backed by camilla too surprise surprise no doubt she's eyeing it up for her children.

Yes maybe.

I read just yesterday, the Queen paid for main works to the cottage and H +M just paid for ''decoration''.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 08/03/2023 07:15

I'm not really sure why anyone would expect a grace & favour home when they have chosen not to have any official role in this country.

I don't hate Harry and Meghan like some do at all, but it's pretty entitled to expect a free luxury home just because....

Yeah... bit like all the RF then. There are few who aren't living in Royal estates.

All of them.

Look at poor old Andrew, having to leave his 30 roomed, 98 acre Royal estate. And W&K needing another royal property to add to their portfolio.
And Zara and Mike living on Mum's estate (although HMQ bought the Estate and gave it to Anne)
And Ed in his 120 roomed Estate... two people rattling round in that whilst the DCs are at school/Uni
And the poor old York sister scrabbling around for anything they can get
And don't start me on the wider family..

Everywhere I read says totally different.

And Andrew?

He hasn't 'chosen' not to have a role. But he doesn't have one, and yet is bleating about leaving a huge royal estate. Along with his divorced for 27 years wife. She's heartbroken about it apparently.

😂
So that applies to all the 'royals'

The 'royals' own Balmoral and sandringham . All the rest are owned by the state . Charles is playing house and performing for the base hard line ( hard of thinking ) supporters who want Harry punished publicly for telling a few truths
All of the 'working' ( lol) winsdors have multiple properties all standing empty for months all with state paid for security year round - occupied or not

So remove the secure property from your biracial grandchildren and move in uncle sex offender . Because to be a royalist you need to put Andrew above Harry because Andrew doesn't criticise the set up .
Nice .

For those worried Harry will be booed- Charles and Camilla will need a brass band following them around to try to drown out the protesters

Novella4 · 08/03/2023 07:36

@Roussette
I didn't see your post , I'm repeating what you said - the same earlier post jumped out at me

PleaseJustText · 08/03/2023 07:40

Security would be even tighter if they stay at one of the palaces while here anyway.

Seems strange that they're saying Eugenie sent them their belongings. They filmed themselves packing up everything to leave in the documentary.

Brass band😃

PleaseJustText · 08/03/2023 07:44

Oh, not to forget that someone posted this part of Spare to Twitter. It makes him sound unhinged. I'm sure he's getting worse by the day with all the interviews focusing on how the royal family have failed him and none of the positives of his life.

What's the big deal about Fogmore Cottage?

I don't think Andrew deserves a luxury home either.

He needs to live somewhere and he probably can't work...after all, who would employ him? I presume that the RF still covers his living costs, so they could put him up in a 1-bed flat somewhere as far as I'm concerned.

Alternatively, he should be allowed to claim benefits/state pension or whatever and move into private rented accommodation/get on the list for council housing!
