She clearly is already the Queen. But officially after the Coronation she will be known as the Queen, not the Queen Consort.

All these holier than thou types on here. Judgemental and no idea what she is really like.

Why does it bother you so much?

Because she's an adulteress and by rights should be flogged through the streets and shunned by all respectable wimmin. At the very least she should be made to parade around with a red A pinned to her coronation robes! 😆

Pemba · 26/02/2023 18:25

People always trot out that Diana was just as much to blame for the failure of the marriage , I don't agree. Yes Diana had affairs (later on after she realised she had meant very little to Charles). If those affairs were with married men that was very wrong of her.

But at the time she agreed to marry Charles she was a naive teenager (19) from a troubled broken home, despite her family wealth. The Royals (and her own family) intended her to be an uncomplaining aristocratic brood mare. Charles was over 30 and had had many relationships, Camilla was married with children. Diana thought she was getting a fairy tale, but she was deceived from the start by Charles, Camilla and all the Royals. Camilla also cheated on Andrew Parker Bowles of course (as he did to her).

So no, I don't think much of Charles and Camilla. He's a spoiled ineffectual man who wouldn't have gone far in life if not for an accident of birth. I won't watch the coronation (well maybe highlights on the news). Probably we might go out for the day.

The general public were mostly fond of QEII partly because she was there for so long, and seemed a breath of fresh air when she took the throne back in the 50s, she was young and fairly good looking. They continued to like her for reasons of nostalgia. She never said much so you could project anything you wanted on to her, imagine she was your granny etc. See all the Paddington stuff.

They won't be so fond of Charles, I am pretty sure, and inevitably he won't last that long, due to his age. QEII's death was the beginning of the end for the Royals, the world is changing.

Chas has longevity genes on both sides.

😂Adultery is a choice you know. The consequences are often damaging where kids are involved.
You are no longer duty bound to succumb to it when summoned by royalty.

Pemba · 26/02/2023 18:33

He doesn't look that healthy though, it's been said.

Wow, REALLY? you astound me. Every day's a school day here.

I don't think there was any 'summoning' involved with C & C. But thanks for the hot tip - I'll bear it in mind in the unlikely event royalty gets on the phone to 'summon' me to a spot of extramarital hank panky.

She's still an adulterer who committed adultery with married men. She was a bit of a stalker, too. In my opinion Charles was responsible for the breakdown of their marriage but in the long run ut would never gave worked. She was an emotional roller coaster that he'd never be able to live with. That doesn't absolve him, though. I also think he cheated with one woman who he'd always cared for, who he's remained faithful to, and who he clearly loves. Should people suffer and be unhappy with a person for their entire life to make the public happy? Camilla has put up with a lot of stick from the public and press for years. She just carried on doing her charity work and being supportive of her husband. She's 75. Time to move on to another story.

And I actually think Charles has done a lot of good stuff. But, just like Princess Anne, because he didn't hold babies and smile sympathetically at sick people, he used to get little publicity. I think he is, just like William and Harry, thin skinned. But having people taking pot shots at you all the time must get wearing. I think he's been a good Prince of Wales and he'll be a good king.

I'm excited for the coronation. The pageantry, the carriages, the fanfares, the dresses, the jewels in the crown glittering as its actually placed on his head. And everyone cries god save the king.
Oooo, I can't wait.

Meh. Diana also cheated, but apparently she's a saint now and we have to forget about her indiscretions.

Shes been elevated to almost Sainthood by some despite the fact she was the OW in more than marriage but that seems to be overlooked

Kinneddar · 26/02/2023 18:50

Then the Queen agreed (just before her death, sadly) that she could be known as Queen consort. I wonder how that she latex out

I think its more likely when QE said she should be Queen Consort she was using the official, technically term rather than saying she should always be referred to as QC. I think she was giving her blessing for Camilla to be Queen, rather than Princess as it had been rumoured

Plitvice · 26/02/2023 18:55

I am now veering towards feeling sorry for Harry in all of this. He mentioned the men in grey suits controlling the Queen in her last days. I wonder if Charles' office put her under pressure to elevate Camilla in this way?

MarshaMelrose · 26/02/2023 18:58

She's officially Queen Consort because she isn't Queen in her own right. She'll always be queen consort til Charles dies. After that, she'll be the dowager queen. She'll just be called Queen Camilla, without the word consort.
It's just like when the Queen Mother was queen when George VI was alive. She was Queen Consort but just referred to as Queen Elizabeth.

Coronateachingagain · 26/02/2023 18:59

She can call herself what she wants, she is the spouse of the monarch, not a "queen" however.

This monarchic system should change, it does not make sense in this day and age and they will need to evolve with times. We need to look past the title they give to themselves.

AmandaJonah · 26/02/2023 18:59

She is the Queen.

She is a bad role model. It communicates to society that deceit and adultery pays as it leads to power, wealth and even respect.
I know that many people commit adultery these days (even in my own family) so the king is a suitable match for his subjects but couldn't they at least try to break the cycle?

Hmm, a bad royal role model. Where have I heard that a million times before?

It is so easy to construct a speculative phrase like that on anything. Like: I wonder if Harry's PR team put pressure on Charles office who then put pressure into William and upset Kate because it all was so unfair 😅

If you use AI you may come up with something more intelligently put together!

Easy to stir it one way isn't it

DorritLittle · 26/02/2023 19:05

NeedNwJeans · 26/02/2023 17:09

I think she cares a lot. she's had a long campaign to get where she is now.

I believe the longer C&C are on the throne, the more likely monarchy is to die. Many countries have already decided either to become republic, increasing number won't have Charles in the currency , so republican movement will only increase. As will in the UK for sure, Queen was well loved, same can't be said for C&C.

I don’t blame Camilla for getting a good PR person. But her goal was never to be Queen. Accepted, yes.

SleepyRooster · 26/02/2023 19:05

Cut them all off and let them work. Silly stuff, and it demeans us as a nation

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 26/02/2023 19:07

The spouse of the monarch, if a king, is called the queen. As had been explained ad nauseam on this and other threads for the last nearly six months.

StaunchMomma · 26/02/2023 19:07

Not in my house, she won't.

Don't talk nonsense the Queen herself announced it. All Queen Consorts are called Queen (name)

I'm sure she'll be gutted.

She is the Queen whether anyone likes it or not. It's so weird to claim otherwise.
