"Kate's Rebranding Masterclass May Finally See off Meghan"

MrsMaxDeWinter · 08/02/2023 14:13

"Five months since she moved up to the second tier of the monarchy, the Princess has started beefing up her top team to make sure she succeeds not only with her “life’s work” on child development, but also with the task of besting Meghan Markle."

Why does Meghan have to look bad for Kate to look good? Why does Meghan need to be bested or seen off? Why is it a competition?

‘open your eyes’

Oh gawd these threads are a bit nutty for me. People are oddly jumpy and defensive re this topic as if it matters that much.

I didn’t mention the media. But polls wrt support has gone down.

Yes I looked at the polls and who commissioned them and could not place much faith in the results. Polls are very affected by what questions are asked, ages of those questioned , income levels and their geographical location. All can skew polls.

Polling has shown to be a very hit and miss ‘science’ in this past decade.

I find republicans in favour and defending Harry about as baffling as turkeys voting for Christmas!

I’m a republican but feel positive about Harry, (although I still have criticisms of him), because he stood up and fought for his wife when she was subject to the most awful misogyny and racism. Before and during her marriage while she lived in the UK.

You’d have to write off all YouGov polls then, even ones that confirm something you might already think.

They show voter intention, support or not for the monarchy, support or not for strikes etc. Fine to dismiss all of them if you want as long as it’s not just those that don’t match your views.

Shame he didn't use some of that fight to get her help when she was suicidal.

He did.

notanotheroneagain · 13/02/2023 09:07

He did.

You mean like this night www.independent.co.uk/life-style/royal-family/harry-meghan-suicide-mental-health-b1851284.html When a six months pregnant Meghan told him she was suicidal, he gave her a quick cuddle and took her to some big event at the Albert Hall, the night he says he's ashamed of the way he dealt with it? Yes sure he did.

LaMarschallin · 13/02/2023 11:46

This is from a few days back but I don't devote much of my time to reading social media.
But really this post is most unpleasant:

Bugeyedowl

I can't believe that that stupid woman who says she slept with Harry when he was 16 gets more sympathy on this site than a woman who says she was suicidal!! Wonder why?

Why would you call her "stupid"?
It probably wasn't the best judgement call to have sex with Harry, but she'd just turned 19 and he was nearly 17 - who hasn't done silly things in their teens?
But calling her "stupid" is plain nasty.

notanotheroneagain · 13/02/2023 12:07

So 16 is now nearly 17? Guess 19 is also nearly 20.
He was 16.

No, not clever to reveal that you slept with a 16yr old virgin. Imagine H was the one of age to vote/bug cigarettes/alcohol/knives etc. and was sleeping with 16yr old virgin. You would all be up in arms.

No, I mean the after that night and refusal from the palace, he got her a number of a lady who went on to council her.

Do keep up.

He was two weeks away from his 17th birthday. So yes, nearly 17

He was 2 months away from his 17th birthday, she was days away from her 19th.

I don't see why she is being criticised here? She didn't choose to bring the subject up.

So, he allowed his suicidal wife to go and try and get help from the palace HR department, took her out for the night and then got her the number of a counsellor. Not how I would deal with a suicidal partner. Isn’t that an acute mental health crisis that needs dealing with straight away? If someone is suicidal they need help fast. Not a couple of days later fgs

ArcaneWireless · 13/02/2023 12:14

He was 16 and off his tits on drink and god knows what else around that age.

I’d be getting more indignant about that than him having sex.

He was at least legal for that.

ArcaneWireless · 13/02/2023 12:17

And yes smilesy

That phone number and a night out were just what she needed if she was feeling like that. Urgent intervention passed her by.

There. That’s me kept up.

No, you keep up. He's ashamed so not sure why you think it was OK. That night when she was suicidal he should have got her help not taken her to an event. He should be ashamed and I'm glad he is. At least he is taking some responsibility.

ArcaneWireless · 13/02/2023 12:18

He was 16.

Guess again. There's a lot of difference between having just had your birthday and being two months off your next birthday.

No, not clever to reveal that you slept with a 16yr old virgin. Imagine H was the one of age to vote/bug cigarettes/alcohol/knives etc. and was sleeping with 16yr old virgin. You would all be up in arms.

This makes no sense. Do you mean "bum cigarettes/alcohol/knives"?
People may bum cigarettes but who on earth bums knives?
And you're the one describing this woman as "not clever"? 🤔

And anyone else who's slept with a "16yr old virgin" is "not clever"? Or "stupid" as she was described in the post I quoted?

Harry explains in the documentary how he regrets (says he hates himself in fact) thinking like a 'royal' instead of a 'husband'. He took her with him that night, as she couldn't trust herself that she would not commit suicide. So he was there for her not to do anything stupid.

They then asked the palace - who had up to this point been telling them what to do. The palace should have taken pastoral care of their charges since they tell them what to do. They did not, so H went ahead and got a lady from outside.

The posters who are upset with this, should be livid with Charles who put his hand on his 12yr old son's knee and told him of the death of his mother. Then left him to it all night.

I clearly stated if the ages were reversed. ie. if H was 19 and the girl 16. The narrative would be different. He would be of age to buy all those those items.

There is no excuse for him not getting help straight away. It doesn’t matter that he was there “in case she did anything stupid”. If someone is that desperate, they will find a way, whether someone else is present or not. It’s not a risk that he should have taken. The way Charles dealt with him as a child has f all to do with it

ArcaneWireless · 13/02/2023 12:35

The posters who are upset?

There is only one of them.

"Kate's Rebranding Masterclass May Finally See off Meghan"
notanotheroneagain · 13/02/2023 12:39

They explained that as well.

You don't just do as you want at the palace, not if you are H&M anyway. MM even said 'you can't just call an uber' . Throughout their story, it's clear that H&M were the spares that had to report everything to the palace and had to ask permission.

Now, I wonder why that is.

No one would deny Meghan mental health help if she needed it. How do you think it would look if the palace said no and then she killed herself? Harry had not been denied access to mental health help before Meghan was around. She was under a midwifery team who would have been interested in her mental health. There were plenty of options. And the Uber analogy is just silly

ArcaneWireless · 13/02/2023 12:48

According to Harry’s story - as it has been called.

So not clear at all really.

Sometimes folk can be as persistent as syphilis.

Now I wonder why that is.
