Brave man. Painfully transparent and authentic. At last..
Someone that tells it like it is. Refreshing at least and if even 50% of people that read Spare now looks at press articles cynically then that's a result ! I am excited to see change - we need it .
What do you think ?

I absolutely agree.
I'm also aware its marketing and that these are still very privileged people who will always be more wealthy and powerful than I could ever even imagine being in my entire life... but I still kinda root for them just coz it IS actually pretty brave to take on an establishment like that.. both the royal family and the press..regardless of how privileged your background is.
I think his book may well have been embellished to make more dynamic reading and I dont really care tbh... the core of it is true and what anyone with any sense could understand... the entire concept of monarchy is disgusting not just for the rest of society but for those actually born into it, and yes completely abusive.. you know that deep down when you look at the images of those boys standing behind the coffin of their mother. The perks, the wealth doesnt outweigh what a sick scenario it must be to grow up in that family... these things needed discussing and bringing out into the open its 2023. Beyond time it was discussed.
I also applaud him for talking about his feelings and experiences when there is SO much pressure for him not to... as a man, as a soldier, as a public schoolboy, as a member of the Royal family... its shut up, dont show emotion, dont complain, dont question, dont show vulnerability, dont act different... Harry is out there trying to be a real human being and even if its nothing I relate to as a working class person im actually pleased for him and glad he's showing a different way to be perhaps for other men

I agree OP. No one deserves to be treated like that by the press.

Most of the haters have only read Daily Mail headlines.

Thanks... I've got to say I will never read the daily mail again
Vile ... just vile. Understand the pimple on ass comment fully now

Harry's got big bills to pay. That's it. He wrote a misery memoir to get a lot of dosh.

'Brave' FFS. He wrote a book that comprehensively trashed his family and people who can't answer back. He didn't run into a burning building to save lives.

OK... but the point is he dared speak up about the lies and how bad the press really twist things. There is no come back from this. No further to go... that's brave. He won't be accepted back I don't think . I don't read it as trashed his family ... the press have said far worse things about them..true or not. I think he just pointed out the disconnects and a finger up to the media ... that's all. No ones life should be trashed by that (ego hurt? Definitely ...)

... the queen banned Philip from having beans. William sings “I’m too sexy” when doing the washing up. And Camilla bakes an amazing lemon drizzle

Beatrice drinks Horlicks before bedtime and Edo gives her the side-eye. Edward still has the costumes from It's A Royal Knockout in a shed and hopes to re-enact it someday. Anne and Sir Tim once wrestled each other to the floor over a game of monopoly on Boxing Day.

Wibbly1008 · 25/01/2023 18:25

This post is just baiting. More nonsense about Harry. 🤨

Yep, a lot of people only go off daily mail headlines. Must be why we keep getting people repeating the lie that Charles said he wished he was a tampon then…

@Noangelbuthavingfun Oh right it just sounds like he a massively entitled prick when you read it yourself but when Harry reads it you realise he is actually the reincarnation of St Francis of Assisi. Give me a break

😂I stand by what I think of the book. Refreshing. Have you actually read it? Entirely ?

Yes dear of course I have, I wouldn’t be commenting on the book otherwise would I? Harry has made a total arse out of himself with this book. Total own goal.

Omg you said this WAY more rloqurjyky than I could....by the comments I failed to get this exact point across. 100% THIS!! On a more practical level and not about the royals.... If it even also inspires a few people to stand up for themselves (not a British thing to do...) then that's fantastic.if Harry can stand up to the most powerful institution bar the govt...

There will be mayhem from what I'm going to say next... but dare I say he ever so slightly might be inspiring ...??? Shock....

As I said above, I'm convinced that many of the posters here are not British. Not that there's anything wrong with that, obviously, but if you're going to comment on British society, it does help to be at least somewhat informed.

British people have been 'standing up to the media' for decades, since before your hero Harold was even born. And doing so "WAY more rloqurjyky" than an embittered prince sitting sulking in small town California, his only real gripe being that his brother was born first.

Let's face it, had the tabloids agreed with him that he and Meghan were the best royal couple ever, and that Kate definitely made Meghan cry, because we know that's an absolutely crucial matter, then Harry would have no issue with them. Holding him up as some sort of principled media campaigner makes about as much sense as claiming him as an anti monarchist, when he has explicitly said he is the exact opposite. In other words, it makes no sense at all.

It’s especially ridiculous when you realise that most of the stories he moaned about the press ‘lying’ about were confirmed to be true in his own book 🤦‍♀️

Noangelbuthavingfun · 25/01/2023 17:52

I agree.... and if the book is anything to go by, hasn't got the balls to drive change. Harry says fuck it I will drive change... I will never be king anyway. There isn't really anyone else with the balls to do this - if you hate it thst much, get out. H has done just that.

I’ve lost count the amount of times I have had to repeat this on here, Harry never wanted out, it’s in black and white in their own words, they wanted half in and the rest of the time earning money from their royal connections, it’s become an urban myth that he wanted out, he very much wanted to stay in.

Blossomtoes · 25/01/2023 19:03

if Harry can stand up to the most powerful institution bar the govt...

He’s not standing up to anything. He’s just making a tit of himself.

hoooops · 25/01/2023 19:08

But why would you not see that just having that privilege, and with that the bigger burden of always having to fight for what's the truth is in fact...living a lie? Very few would want that...that's the point.

I still find it difficult to feel sorry for someone complaining that his bedroom IN A CASTLE ON A 50000 ACRE ESTATE wasn't big enough. Petty moaning about a life of great privilege partly funded by us - the central gripe of which seems to be, "I was only third in line to the throne when I was born and I wanted to be second. Boo bloody hoo.

And as for "always having to fight for what's the truth" - do me a favour. He wouldn't know the truth if it walked up to him and rubbed cream on his todger. His book is full of lies to the point where any useful points he might have made are completely obliterated. Plus I still haven't seen anyone provide examples of his family leaking damaging stories about him, with evidence to back that up.

Indeed he wanted 50/50 and that didn't happen. So they effectively ousted him. Are you suggesting that his book is now then a revenge attempt for being pushed out ?

Surely he 'ousted' himself by publicly demanding something anyone here could have told him would be impossible?

Yes of course I am, and they didn’t “oust” them, they chose to leave.

StormzyinaTCup · 25/01/2023 19:13

Harry is a man child
His book is just a printed tantrum.

Well ... IF...it boils down to only that...and nothing more fundamental and moral... then he is an idiot. I for one trust that his intentions were a bit more fundamental than an F U attempt. I could if course be wrong ... time will tell I suppose....

Lol! You’ve hit the nail on the head. Harry wasn’t ousted, he was told ‘no’. Harry like all spoilt brats cannot tolerate being told no. So he stropped off, wrote a book out of utter spite and is still raging he was told ‘no’.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 25/01/2023 19:18

Also the Queen gave them 12 months grace so they could come back if things didn’t work out. People manage to forget that as well, so to say they were ousted is just not true.

hoooops · 25/01/2023 19:24

if you hate it thst much, get out. H has done just that

By H I presume you mean the Duke of Sussex who hates it so much he still insists on using his title?

I think he just pointed out the disconnects and a finger up to the media ... that's all.

Yeah that's all. He certainly never revealed private medical information about his father and brother, did he? Or suggested his niece and nephews were not being properly looked after by their parents, or that his brother had not married for love. Or described a member of school staff as being "not hot" with greasy hair and mocked her for her disability? Or handed the Taliban a prime propaganda opportunity and made life less safe for British military personnel? Or misrepresented his pilot training to the point where his instructor had to correct him publicly? To top it all off he then goes and massacres a perfectly good song with his dire attempt at singing. How anyone can defend him defeats me.
