I think he was pissed as a fart when he wrote that and hit send with his sad old bleary eyes. There's literally no other reason for it because, even though he's a terrible tosser, even he would have known sober what a backlash it would have caused.

Poor old Jezza needs to get some help.

See I think there’s a huge lack of nuance around these kinds of discussions. I think what he said was deeply unpleasant and I thought less of him for it, but I don’t think he deserves to lose his career over it. Natural consequences, people who don’t like him or what he said will no longer watch him, they’ll vote with their feet. But no that’s not enough, he has to be immediately ruined, removed from public life, destroyed. Well not everyone wants this kind of pernicious, non redemptive “Social Justice”, many people are disgusted and apprehensive of just how far it might go. I’m glad he hasn’t lost anything. I hope it’s a turning point and that he cannot be “cancelled”. I’ll see a glimmer of hope if that’s the case.

He should never have written it and the paper should never have published it. It did nothing but prove Harry and Meghan right about press vitriol, and show himself for the misogynistic twat he is.
The apology is almost certainly because his contracts are not going to be extended. It's so insincere.
But I'm also intrigued that he knew Harry's email address!

And that is precisely the point I am making. People like you feel entitled to make huge character defining accusations towards people you know nothing about, yet I have said and done nothing to warrant it, except disagree with your subjective perceptions and opinions. As one person you’re easy to deal with, as part of a social media mob it’s a real problem.

Thats the problem in this country everyone assumes they know everything about everyone circumstances , I have had to point out countless times on MN that I am dyslexic , and no I don’t really know the differences between there and and their, so unfortunately I do make mistakes in my grammar and sometimes spelling mistakes. But it always make smart arses like you feel very happy to point them out.
When I was growing up I nearly stopped writing anything, because of teachers and people like you who thought it was acceptable to keep pointing out how stupid I must be not do be able to understand grammar and spell

I genuinely don’t think Clarkson is a misogynist and I genuinely think he was very clumsy and chose his words poorly. He’s been rightly condemned for it, but totally cancelled? That I don’t agree with.

Clarkson wasn't sexist or racist to Harry. He was sexist and racist to Meghan. It's incredibly mysoginistic to think it's okay to say vile things about a woman based on how her husband had behaved. She's her own person not her husbands chattel.

I like his shows, on Clarkson’s farm he’s come across as actually an intelligent environmentalist. He loves birds and conservation, he’s compassionate and cares about farmers and the tough deal they get, and it’s clear he adores and really respects his girlfriend.
I think people are more nuanced than ‘good’ and ‘bad’, as someone else on here has said.

I have no sympathy for Clarkson (I haven’t my watched anything he’s done on tv since long before he punched his producer and got sacked from Top Gear) - behave like a boorish idiot, reap the consequences.

But yes, reading the Sussexes reception of his apology leaves me in little doubt that Kate’s apology flowers were indeed thrown in the bin! Their past PR advisers’ reactions would be meme-worthy.

I agree with this about Clarkson on that programme which is why I was so shocked by him writing that vile article.

He has not been cancelled by Amazon, Clarkson farm will be dropping early February, and I for one will be watching it.

Feel free not to watch it, and don’t read his column in the Sun or Star or what every rag it was printed.

He has apologised , that’s as good as it’s going to get.
