Why doesn't he get in his car and drive to the furthest remote place in the UK and stay there? He is a horrible excuse for a human being, makes me want to vomit....feeble apologies, because he's now thinking about his finances.......he should never be allowed to be on TV or write in newspapers again....why isn't he made an example of? ....

Yes something has happened to him he has released that you have to think before you wright horrible things about people , even if you think you are being very clever and whitey with your words. I expect that he has had a very big shock at the reaction to his article.
But if you think the the whole county is up in arms and wanting his head then you are very much mistaken. I will bet my bottom doller that he also got lots of well said , that what I was thinking from a lot of people.
I have always taken Clarkson with a pinch of salt he is a man of his time, a bit of a dinosaur.

But sorry I will be watching Clarkson farm. And I’m sure my dh will be watching the silly car show as well.

As I said won’t be reading the Sun, but I doubt many of there readers were that upset by his article.

It’s not in the sun it’s in the star.

It's a completely pathetic non-apology, only done so because Amazon have cut him off. Good call, Amazon.

It's the kind of apology you do when your parents force you to apologise for something you did wrong. He's a complete joke of a grown man.

They haven’t cut him off. Everything is still going ahead as planned. They’ve said they have no plans to renew his contract after 2024, that’s all, but we’ll see…

StormzyinaTCup · 16/01/2023 20:19

His contract with them runs out in 2024 anyway

Ah ok, so just Amazon possibly wanting to look like they are doing something but actually not really doing anything - all about the optics.

I'll continue watching Clarkson's Farm and Grand Tour (I quite like James MayBlush)

I can’t get that worked up about him. I loved what he did for UK farming and he’s apologised. People need to be allowed to make mistakes, it’s a dangerous path we’re going down.

And this why we have failed to get rid of racism and misogyny after decades of trying to cos of people like you who think like this.

On this day and age you have to being extremely stupid to say stuff like he did. It is not okay.

Are you going to tell me the men who made racist comments to me in Bristol just daring to walk down the same road as them were just making a mistake. People have a choice do I say this or not.

Nanalisa60 · 16/01/2023 20:20

The Star , even worse then the Sun, I really can’t see many of there readers being mortified by his article.

ssd · 16/01/2023 20:23

His apology was utterly pathetic.

So? It’s a link to one of the only papers talking about it. Assertions were made on this thread and that article counters them.

Maybe you should read it? I bet they know the difference between there and their…

Butwhytho · 16/01/2023 20:25

his apology was, frankly, shit. He isn’t really sorry, he’s trying to wriggle out of any responsibility for saying what he did. Why is it so hard to have said, yep hands up, I said what I said, it was shit and the reaction to my article has made me reflect properly etc? Not ‘I typed it in a hurry, no one checked it, I couldn’t believe it when I read back’ etc.
I am actually doubly annoyed because I loved what he did for the image of UK farming but now this. Ugh.

See I just don’t get this. People aren’t all Goodies or Baddies. It’s still ok to appreciate the good stuff he did. It’s not cancelled out by the stupid shit he says another time.

obviously I can appreciate people are more nuanced than being ‘goodies’ or ‘baddies’, I’m not a child but let’s not be naive, if you fuck up like that, it’s going to have a knock on effect into your other work. He is an arrogant twat and always has been. I do think that’s always been a part of his appeal in a roundabout way, but it’s unsurprising that it has, again, come around to bite him on the arse.

It was pretty horrible ref to game of thrones I am guessing he has had a few drinks writing it and why the sun editorial printed it was bizarre. However Harry said some very cruel mysogynistic commends about the matron at his prep school snd he really should apologise to her too

Clarkson has apologised obviously under pressure but cancelling people you don't agree with isn't on in my opinion. His farm show is funny I hope he carries on

Thats the problem in this country everyone assumes they know everything about everyone circumstances , I have had to point out countless times on MN that I am dyslexic , and no I don’t really know the differences between there and and their, so unfortunately I do make mistakes in my grammar and sometimes spelling mistakes. But it always make smart arses like you feel very happy to point them out.
When I was growing up I nearly stopped writing anything, because of teachers and people like you who thought it was acceptable to keep pointing out how stupid I must be not do be able to understand grammar and spell

ScribblingPixie · 16/01/2023 20:42

I was surprised The Sun published it without toning it down. Maybe he's pissed off the editor there because anyone could see it was unacceptable. I think, however, that the Sussexes' response to his apology, essentially critiquing his whole body of writing, makes clear how at odds Harry is with the role of the Royal Family. That's something they just don't - and shouldn't - do.

See I think there’s a huge lack of nuance around these kinds of discussions. I think what he said was deeply unpleasant and I thought less of him for it, but I don’t think he deserves to lose his career over it. Natural consequences, people who don’t like him or what he said will no longer watch him, they’ll vote with their feet. But no that’s not enough, he has to be immediately ruined, removed from public life, destroyed. Well not everyone wants this kind of pernicious, non redemptive “Social Justice”, many people are disgusted and apprehensive of just how far it might go. I’m glad he hasn’t lost anything. I hope it’s a turning point and that he cannot be “cancelled”. I’ll see a glimmer of hope if that’s the case.

You can't not employ people because you don't like their opinion. Believe it or not, we do still, allegedly, have freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech just means you don’t get chucked in jail for saying whatever bollocks is in your brain. It does not mean freedom from consequences and it doesn’t mean that people who find your views abhorrent have to give you a platform from which to spout them. Everyone has freedom of speech and if I think Clarkson has said something that I find vile and disgusting I am perfectly entitled to say so, and to not buy his books or watch whatever sub Top Gear boy’s adventure crap he’s flogging to death these days.

No. You can force people to think like you. How arrogant to try to.

BethDuttonsTwin · 16/01/2023 20:45

Can’t

Delectable · 16/01/2023 20:46

No. Amazon are not renewing his shows. So he emailed Harry and marked it private and confidential so they can't make it public. Then he Twitted that he's emailed both H&M an apology. He's a liar.

H&M spokesman it was to H and marked P and C.

Clarkson's chum is on holiday in India with friends and Royal staff at a wellness retreat in Asia in prep for the coronation. No one is asking who's paying or why such a huge entourage when nurses, teachers and train drivers are on strike and everyone's bill is eye watering. We're told the Royal work hard and deserve it. Yet there was no money for Meghan. She bought their furniture etc and even her employers provided her security until she had to quit.

Maybe you’ll know the difference between there and there after this thread? 😉

Anyway, I do apologise. I have a child with additional needs myself so do have understanding of the challenges 💐

They can do whatever they like and when he lies about apologising to Meghan, why should they pretend otherwise?
