I've caught a few items on the news about this pair. They seem to be ramping up their public presence in a rather strange way. Salacious and attention seeking. What is going on?

No family has colour coordinated coats to emergency whisk out of the wardobe. It took more than a day's planning.

They had a week to plan it – Meghan’s claims were 8 December, the carol service was 15 December. In any case I know the royals aren’t bright, but hopefully even they can manage “let’s all wear the same colour coat” without too much planning.

I really like Zara. I have no idea why, I really can't put my finger on it, but MT gives me the full on creeps. Actual bile rising revulsion. No idea what's that all about.

Agreed. I was shocked on ‘I’m a celeb’ how he had zero personality and very little sense of humour. Most rugby players tend to be piss takers and quite at ease with themselves. He just came across as dull and a bit cold. He only made friends that he thought would be strategically beneficial.

Not a nice guy.

newroundhere · 16/01/2023 22:07

I really like the burgendy coat Zara was wearing - does anyone know where it was from?

<misses the point>

The fangirling over Zara is a bit odd..we don't know much about her do we? What makes her particularly down to earth or interesting?

MrsSchrute · 16/01/2023 22:16

Getamoveon36 · 16/01/2023 21:41

A) Zara is not a working royal
B) her mother declined any royal status or hrh styling for her children, so whilst part of the family, are not really ‘royal’
C)they don’t earn anything from the uk taxpayer so why can’t they earn a living doing tv if they want?

Yep, all of these things.

Well he has completed his sporting career and she is coming to the end of hers, so her sponsorship deals will be tailing off, he is doing a good job of moving into broadcasting and I assume she has a plan as well. It’s called earning a crust.

Not sure about the 'fangirling' but the OP was certainly odd.

Anyone that can ride a horse round Badminton has my vote.

She's always lauded on these kinds of threads as being so down to earth and posters are queuing up to say how much they like her. I have no strong feelings either way. I just find it very odd.

Leadbypencils · 16/01/2023 22:21

I presume Liz left something to her daughter Anne. Who I am sure even without any legacy is not falling into the gutter with hunger or want of much. I doubt Anne would leave any of her kids wanting, so the hunger for money and "fame" in order to make more money baffles me about any of them who hustle.

I doubt they will ever see a poor day in their lives.

MonsoonMadness · 16/01/2023 22:29

I’ve always really liked them but they seem to have decided to change their public image . It’s all a bit try hard.

Bit bored of him posing in her hats in was funny the first time. Not so much now.

Getamoveon36 · 16/01/2023 22:32

@Leadbypencils so because they might get a fat inheritance they shouldn’t try to be as successful as they can in their own careers because…other people are poorer? They aren’t selling their family arguments for cash or anything quite that grubby.

Both of them were world class athletes, all the money and connections in the world alone cannot gift you a career at that level, hard work and talent need to be present too. As with plenty of athletes they pursue tv work once physically that career comes to an end. We don’t pay for them so what’s the beef?

Sugarfree23 · 16/01/2023 22:37

Purely my guess, they are slowly increasing their profile to become working Royals.
William & Kate cannot be the only working Royals of their generation.
Harry has done a runner.
Charles, Camilla & Anne are all in their 70s, the issue isn't just now, its 5-10 years time, as they start hitting 80s Edward and Sophie will also be aging. And Andrew has made the York name Mud

Nanalisa60 · 16/01/2023 22:37

Seem a really nice happy in love couple . And we don’t pay for them, so they can do whatever they like.

I read the news all day, every day. Haven't read a thing about them.

Gossipy/BS 'royals' stories can be easily avoided by not looking for them, thank God.

honeylulu · 16/01/2023 22:46

@newroundhere

From Karen Millen (I think Kate's was too)

Argh why is that bold?

Hellybelly84 · 16/01/2023 22:46

Really like both of them-they come across as very normal and unbothered by the whole royal thing. They are definately more in the public eye now but they earn their own money, so why not be more visible if they are popular?

OhMonDieux · 16/01/2023 22:48

They do have a very nice, privileged life.

They were handed their house on a plate from Anne. A cottage in the grounds of Gatscombe Park which she was given by the Queen.

M will have earned money as a professional sportsman.
Z earns money from JL and other companies she is an 'ambassador' for.

The fact they don't have Royal titles is a blessing because they benefit from a house provided by the royal purse, but don't have to do any tiresome duties.

Z gets to do her hobby- rising horses - and wears a watch (or whatever) to promote a brand.

Sounds blissful to me.

I don't think sticking your tongue out at the press is good behaviour for a 41 year old, even as a 'joke'.

Everyone says (on MN) they seem a nice family. That's based on pics of them watching Z riding horses, or watching horses, or anything to do with horses.
We don't know them.
They certainly have a very carefree life, will never have to worry about money, or getting a job.

SleepingStandingUp · 16/01/2023 22:49

@MonsoonMadness what have you seen thsts inappropriately sexual? I've seen a few articles about her short dresses but they're not that short, it's jsut a bit of lower thigh on a 40+ woman, and him wearing her hats. She's not flashing her fanny whilst he poses in her thongs

Stoic123 · 16/01/2023 22:49

His income massively dried up in lockdown - hence the jungle. They are now capitalising on his appearance which seems a sensible thing to do.

Attention seeking - yes, that's how they make their living. Not seeing anything particularly salacious going on.

This is the type of comment that puzzles me.

All we know of them are photos of them having fun days out, with their kids in sometimes scruffy clothes and M being a 'fun dad'.

That means nothing.

They have a very easy life indeed being able to indulge their hobbies, and having money available to do that (thanks to the Queen and Anne.)

Life seems one long jaunt for them.

Who'd not look happy and 'normal'?
