I've caught a few items on the news about this pair. They seem to be ramping up their public presence in a rather strange way. Salacious and attention seeking. What is going on?

I have met Zara, looked after her (among other guests) at Rugby World Cup in 2015.
Yes, she's very pleasant, down to earth and fun.
Or at least she was that day!!!

Aussiegirl123456 · 17/01/2023 00:07

I saw them recently in a restaurant (in Australia, less than 2 weeks ago). She seems very sweet and very beautiful. He was a cunt to the waitress.

She has muscly legs and while that is good for her career, she doesn't look great in tiny mini dresses and towering high heels

Serena Williams also has muscly legs and is partial to a short dress and high heels.

good on both of them. They are two top class athletes and are rightly proud of their bodies and what they can achieve. and they are rightly body- confident.

I'd swap my jelly legs 🦵 for either of their muscley ones?

Being visible and talked about and attention is lucrative for the RF. They may just be wanting to cash in a little on their easy to get publicity and make a buck or two. They see Harry getting 100 million to whine about his family. I am sure they are thinking, we should do something fun and make a little money.

They may be actually allowed to get out a little more now. Nothing like having some other non working royals doing the rounds too.
I am sure the Firm is endorsing the move. Smart strategy

@Leadbypencils so because they might get a fat inheritance they shouldn’t try to be as successful as they can in their own careers because…other people are poorer? They aren’t selling their family arguments for cash or anything quite that grubby.

Both of them were world class athletes, all the money and connections in the world alone cannot gift you a career at that level, hard work and talent need to be present too. As with plenty of athletes they pursue tv work once physically that career comes to an end. We don’t pay for them so what’s the beef?

You also need a lot of money to breed good horses, a lot of money that not a lot have. Horses are crucial in jumping. So she may have been an athlete and have the determination but having the best horses takes you a long long way.

Oh was he? That’s really disappointing, I’ve always quite liked him.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 17/01/2023 00:24

He’s obviously now able to have the more face-on media post-rugby career that was stalled when he was married to the Queen’s granddaughter.

She’s now that step removed again and will be able to have more freedom in things they do.

They are local to me. Both are just like the rest of that upper class, rah rah rah Hooray Henry cadre that they inhabit, and of which we have a lot round here. No nonsense, no not much about feelings. Which is fine, but wouldn’t make them my choice of friends.

I doubt that charities will be clamouring for them to take over Princess Anne’s patronages. They LOVE having Patron: Duchess this and Prince that on their letterhead (or website, these days), and I suspect Ms Zara Tindall won’t have the same attraction for them. I suppose Zara could start using her HRH , which would help a bit.

Neither Zara nor Peter have HRH or any titles. However it wouldn't be beyond possible for them to be given titles especially if they were going to step up as working Royals.

Having loads of cousins as working Royals wasn't really part of Charles plan of slimmed monarchy, but he has 3 siblings (even if one is in the sin bin). Without Harry, William is going to really struggle, he was 35 before becoming a full-time Royal, he will want to give George the same time to be 'normalish'

AnotherSpare · 17/01/2023 00:29

"Purely my guess, they are slowly increasing their profile to become working Royals.
William & Kate cannot be the only working Royals of their generation."

It's quite well-publicised that King Charles wants a slimmed-down working royal family so Zara stepping up to join in will not happen.

Sugarfree23 · 17/01/2023 00:37

Cross posted.

Charles wants slim, without Harry it's anorexic, he wouldn't have anticipated Harry walking away.

10 years time Charles's generation will all be 70s or 80s and George will probably still be in education (school, uni, military). Making it incredibly tough on William and Kate.

I actually think that is likely the reason William is so put out by Harry leaving.

Not only will George not get that time in the same way, it’s likely that Charlotte and Louis will be required to be working royals.

In 12 years when George is 21 Charles will be 86, Camilla 87, Anne 84, Edward 70 and Sophie 69, Duke of Gloucester 90, Duke of Kent 99 and Princess Alexandra 97.
Only Edward, Sophie, William and Kate will be full time at that point. There’s no way The Wales children will get to be private until their 30’s unless the number of engagements is dropped vastly.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 17/01/2023 00:40

Andrew, Harry and Meghan would have been expected to cover around 900 engagements (minimum) between them a year. It’s a lot to cover, and a lot to just drop.

MysteryBelle · 17/01/2023 00:42

Have always kind of liked Zara and Mike. Saw pic of them though, one of them had their tongue way out in a kiss. And Mike’s joke about Anne seeing his underpants. I don’t know. There’s a point where public sharing becomes cringey, like Harry’s cream Diana used on her lips that he put on his ding dong while he thought of her 😳 we don’t want to know!

Still got the Wessex children

Canthave2manycats · 17/01/2023 01:24

Some of the things they've said/done recently have been a bit cringey. I think they have found more freedom to be themselves since the Queen's passing. Yeah some of the posing is OTT but you know, they aren't harming anyone!

They seem to be so well-matched and madly in love after years of marriage and three children. It's all so natural between them too unlike her cousin Harold and his clingy wife who is always hanging off him, with that smug grin on her face!!

Moken · 17/01/2023 01:46

unlike her cousin Harold and his clingy wife who is always hanging off him, with that smug grin on her face

...and here you are, prepared to make yourself sound absolutely fucking horrible and misogynistic on a public forum.

People, eh?

SleepingStandingUp · 17/01/2023 01:49

Nanny0gg · 17/01/2023 01:11

Still got the Wessex children

They'll be 25 and 28 in that decades time. Still young to become ful like working royals for people who've largely been out the line light

StClare101 · 17/01/2023 01:51

I generally like Zara, and I most definitely don’t like Harry and Meghan, but I thought Zara’s face pulling at the wedding was disgusting. It was not a look of discomfort.

Fair bit of internalised misogyny on this thread though isn’t there? Apparently women with muscular legs shouldn’t wear mini skirts. Who knew?

Purely my guess, they are slowly increasing their profile to become working Royals.
William & Kate cannot be the only working Royals of their generation.
Harry has done a runner.
Charles, Camilla & Anne are all in their 70s, the issue isn't just now, its 5-10 years time, as they start hitting 80s Edward and Sophie will also be aging. And Andrew has made the York name Mud

I dunno, grabbing your husbands' nuts seems to be a pretty crap way of increasing your royal profile!

I'm guessing they just got really drunk together, had a good old laugh at the time and woke up seeing the photos and were like, "Nooooo!!!" We've all done it.

I don't think it will be tough on William and Kate though. They will continue to be full time working royals, but the royal family as a whole will just do less in total. The three Wales children don't need to become full time working royals until William is King if the family is slimmed down and doing less. That model is comparable to royal families around Europe, which I imagine Charles had in mind when he was making his slimming down plans.

EconomyClassRockstar · 17/01/2023 02:10

But if they're so slimmed down that they don't really do anything, why do we need them?

I will be SO happy when the British public finally have this discussion for real.

AnotherSpare · 17/01/2023 02:14

Well, we don't need them at all! They generate a lot of tourism, and they keep people entertained. They are symbolic and ceremonial and popular with many. But we don't need them.^^ Slimming down and scaling back is a wise move in that sense.

HollaHolla · 17/01/2023 02:15

I like them. I've been at a fair few 'do's' and weddings with them, as my ex played rugby with Mike. They are pretty down to earth, and good fun. Yes, they're wealthy, and have media careers/sponsorships, but, given that she could have a Harry sized chip on her shoulder, she's just a normal (fairly posh) young woman.

pelargoniums · 17/01/2023 02:29

Making it incredibly tough on William and Kate.
Unlike William and Kate, “incredibly tough” is doing a lot of hard work in that sentence. Why, they might have to do something! Several times a year, even!

nettie434 · 17/01/2023 02:37

I see Zara and Mike as the nearest to ordinary citizens in the Royal Family. They don't actually get any money from the Civil List so they live on their earnings from their sports careers, sponsorship, I'm a Celebrity and presumably a few trust funds and inheritances. Of course their family links must help in getting sponsorship but I think they can legitimately expect more privacy than the 'core' Royal Family.
